Information (please read)
I am incapable of writing a legit review, so I decided to do things my way and post them here instead of as an official review for the anime. As I watch an anime, I write down thoughts I have about the episodes and then try to piece it together to make sense as one solid review. Because of this, there are probably some things you won't get unless you've seen the anime already. I try to avoid spoilers, but I can't promise that my reviews will be spoiler free which is one of the main reasons I can't post these as official reviews. But whatever, it's not really important to me haha Spoilers don't bother me because I'll just forget them in a couple days anyway!

Some Warnings
These are all personal opinions and shouldn't influence your decision to watch any of these anime.
I'm picky as fuck, and the only anime that I truly enjoy as a whole is Comedy, School, and Sports.
I'm a smartass and I cuss like a sailor soooo... if you don't like that, you might wanna see someone else's reviews.

When I first started this anime, I had the feeling I wasn’t going to like it. It felt above my intelligence level, similar to Death Note. But by the end of the first episode, I could tell I was slowly starting to get interested. It was a mystery just begging you to keep watching until the end. It was a riddle wanting to be heard. Once it’s grabbed you, there’s no turning back.

Honestly, I went into this anime on a comedy high. I made several jokes throughout the first couple of episodes. For instance, I was joking about the riddles and how much I wanted Nine’s glasses because they are blue. I regret that now, because it hit so hard, like a bass drop you didn’t think would be there. Or maybe I knew it was there, but tried to pretend it wasn’t.

The point is, this anime DID hit, and it hit hard. It felt emotional, sad - but it didn’t feel heart-wrenching until the last of the string began to unwind. You learned about the horror that transpired, what they went through, how they felt. And you cried for them. Those poor boys…

In the last few episodes, I got chills that took time to disappear. Honestly, I usually multi-task when watching anime, but this anime was so gripping that I couldn’t look away. When I did, I was compelled to look right back. I didn’t want to miss a single moment. I wanted to know what was going to happen next. Now, I kind of wish I hadn’t. They gave you a sense of happiness at the end, and then ripped it from your bleeding hands.

Three people were searching for a place to call home. They’d do anything to find it, to feel needed and loved. I feel like Lisa helped them find a bit of peace in the end.

Two boys wanted to be remembered, to be loved and to find a place to belong. The world just wouldn’t give them that, not even in the end.

Rest in peace, boys.

You’ve earned your wings.

You’re free now.

Damn this roller coaster of emotion anime! Honestly, I couldn’t understand half of the shit they talked about - it’s above my intelligence level, but I did understand some of it. I’ve been interested in the Butterfly Effect since I played Until Dawn, so that was a nice feeling when they mentioned it. I also appreciated the references they made - it felt like I was part of an inside joke and that made it more enjoyable for me.

Honestly though, this anime was so friggin’ emotional and taxing on my brain. I just couldn’t stop watching despite this, though. I had to know what happened next. I don’t know why humans seem to think otherwise, but let me tell you - fucking with time is NEVER a good idea (have none of you seen Doctor Who? Come on, now).

As for Mayuri… she’s just one of those characters that I really WANT to hate, but I just can’t bring myself to do so. She’s just too innocent and kind, the kind of person I want to protect. My favorite character, though, would have to be Yuugo Tennouji.

And don’t get me started on those goddamn plot twists! I was left speechless on more than one occasion, unable to string together words that made any sense as I babbled on to give my brain time to process what the fuck had just happened.

I can honestly see why this anime is so damn popular, and why so many people recommend it. Whether it’s your most hated genre or not, you NEED to give this anime a shot. I feel like nine times out of ten, you won’t find the decision regrettable.

“One year to experience how it felt to be young, full of dreams, and maybe in love. Like Ryou said, I’m just an illusion, but I’m going to treasure every single moment of it and make the most of my ReLife.”

I need to start by saying that the plot of this anime hits a fucking home run for me. So many times I’ve wished I could have a second chance to do the things I was too much of a damn coward to do, to return to school and have the experiences that normal teenagers do. I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way. Some may find this to be a bittersweet experience in that case.

For me, this anime fulfilled that wish, even if it wasn’t me that got the chance. It truly made me happy to see Arata get a second chance at life and see him make the most out of it. He’s an amazing person that reaches out to help people without so much as a second thought.

There’s a bit of drama - but let’s be honest, no slice of life or school anime is complete without at least a pinch of drama somewhere. There was a plot twist at the end, but if you pay close enough to the characters, you can kind of guess what it turns out to me.

ReLife is short, but oh so sweet. I feel like it was the perfect mixture of everything needed to make a good slice of life/school anime which, in my experience, is quite hard to find. Or maybe that’s just because I’m picky as fuck.

But I digress.

What to say, what to say about this anime.

Well, for starters, it was kind of disappointing to me. I was into it at first, but it just felt… too long without any real purpose. Every episode was basically the same thing rehashed - you know, same shit different day kinda feel.

To me, I think this anime would have prospered better as a movie or a short rather than an anime series. They kissed hella early on, so there was really no build or suspense for it.

Honestly, it was basically just drama after drama after drama UGH. It was way too serious for what it should have been, so it was easy to lose interest fairly soon in the anime. I think I lost interest right before the middle and was completely disinterested by the end. That’s not to say I hated it, though, don’t misunderstand.

The ending just felt… really fucking weird. Like it was such a strange place to stop.

Overall, I don’t think too highly of this one - it just wasn’t that great. I think the main reason I endured it so well is because I kept getting Kimi ni Todoke vibes - love that fucking anime, and I also didn’t really mind the main female characters. Although there were quite a few fems that pissed me off, but that’s nothing unusual.

I guess it wasn’t as bad as some other anime I’ve seen. When I first started it, I had the intention of rating it a nine out of ten on MAL, but as I continued to watch, that number started to toll down until I came to a seven. Honestly, thinking about it now, I should have rated it a six, but meh.

I physically COULD NOT finish this… this… SPIDER of an anime (because spiders are the bane of evil and deserve to die, so it fits).

This anime is absolutely one hundred percent HORRIBLE. It’s literally just softcore porn directed towards hormonal teenagers and pervy old men that get off on high school girls have orgasms from eating food. Sorry, but one thing I can’t stand mixed is food and sex. Just no.

I feel like the creator was a man that was simultaneously hungry, horny and high while deciding to make this. It completely baffles me how popular this is. I guess a lot of people have food fetishes? I don’t fucking know.

I really tried to push through and finish this anime - I hate the thought of dropping one - but I regret getting as far as I did. I cringed so many fucking times I physically started to hate myself.

This is honestly the WORST anime I’ve ever had the displeasure of witnessing and by far the biggest anime regret I have. It’s also the ONLY anime I’ve dropped and could not finish after almost 300 titles.

Why does MAL not allow negative scores? One is too good for this shit storm.
