I'm a gay/bi furry but I don't see what the appeal of this is outside of a shallow level of cute and weird.

Like that can work I suppose but it doesn't feel like it has much outside of that shallow base level of that. Where as 1 minutes shorts like Aggretsuko work this doesn't seem to work as well outside of the nice character designs.

Does it work for other people or what is it that people see in this short anime?

It's kinda funny (because of how ridiculous the situations can be), weird and strangely cute. This anime doesn't have the pretention to be more than what you said anyway so it's better to just enjoy it for what it is if you can enjoy this type of humor and fluff.
Plus the redhead waifu is great.

I pretty much like that it's a satyrical comedic anime. You see Japan is a country heavily set in conservative thinking, where gender roles are precisely defined and rigid.

So if you wanted to make a satire of marriage, typically you would just invert gender roles, which has been done before and isn't really funny anymore because it feels sexist. But by using the absurd intermediary of inhumans, you can switch gender roles without making it revendicative, add highschoolers because they usually don't get married and is closer to your target audience and voila, you get a fun absurd comedy on a subject otherwise touchy.

It may also be a satire of the boys love genre (kinda like Gakuen Handsome) where they tend to portray gay relationships as the exact same as (stereotypical) straight ones, and where the whole top/bottom thing is taken way too far, leading to male characters (usually the "bottom") acting the exact same way a girl protagonist would. It usually feels unrealistic and weird so it would not suprise me if this show tried to criticize this aspect as well.

True enough. I guess this aspect is lighter here because out of 4 inhumans, the twins are definitely female, bandage thing feels a bit female, then there's one Totoro-class and one pet-class inhumans.

Yeah you're right, but I think it can mostly be seen with the "main pairing"
