THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
A pretty standard episode, but not bad. It's interesting that the man's life didn't exactly improve this time around, it mostly stayed the same except he got a plant.

I do like how the animation quality has been steadily increasing, and I also appreciate how they sometimes mix in live-action shots to add to the realism.

Also, whoa! At the end, Moguro-san turned around and walked towards the camera before walking off into the distance. Wasn't expecting that! :O

This is "Moonlit Orchid", right? I wonder about the order of the episodes as encountered in various places, Moguro-san seems to be introducing himself as if this is the first episode.

I dig this series because it's so culturally indicative. Having a plant grow out of you might be just kind of weird for you and me, but it seems to be a truly horrific thing for the intended Japanese audience.

Also, I wonder about the cultural meaning of Orchids. In the USA, for example, Roses suggest romance and Daisies indicate innocence, I wonder what the equivalent is for Japan.
...but then again, I unironically like Warau Salesman.

Ah, you know what, I think I totally didn't realize the flower was growing out of him at the end. I thought it had just bloomed like it was going to.

Not sure about Japan's history with the flower, but... the word 'orchid' is derived from the Greek word orchis which means testicles. In Greece, they named it this because of it's shape, but the flower also became believed to promote virility.

In the Victorian era, the flower then came to represent luxury.

Nowadays, Orchids can represent beauty and strength as well as luxury.

There's a lot of different meanings for orchids, many of which depend on the color.
The pink orchid in the episode represents an innocent joy, which goes along with the theme and the character this time around.
The fact that it's a cattleya orchid also means it represents a mature charm.
