Would be weird if it was canon. If you look closely in the trailer at the end where they show the title, the two figures with wings closely resemble the designs of meliodas and elizabeth from the one shot.

So using old character designs for meliodas and elizabeth seems pretty far-fetched but there is a chance that they're new characters but it just seems unreal to me for an author, no matter if you're involved in the origanal or not to be real.
