So stoked for this!

I want to wait until the anime comes out and read the manga when after the anime is done airing, should I do that?

The manga currently has 151 chapters... If you don't have the time I'd recommend watching the anime first and then the manga. But if you do, read it.

I always recommend to read the source material first when the anime has one, so you can enjoy the full experience in the way that it's supposed to be enjoyed.
When you read the manga you will focus on the story, the quality of the writing, and the art.
And having read the manga first, when you watch the anime you will be able to focus a lot more on the performance of the voice actors and the music. You will be able to critically judge how well the series was adapted into anime.

Then you can watch or read the series in whatever order you want.
At least I, personally, prefer to always read the source material first for the reasons listed in my last reply, except when I also don't care about critically judging the anime, which is what I'm doing with Yu-Gi-Oh right now, since I don't plan to ever read its manga.
But it's also arguable that the anime is just an advertisement of the manga, especially since it's not rare for the anime to end up not adapting the whole story of the manga, or even changing the story. So when you finish the anime it will just make you want to read manga to continue the story.

Heard somewhere that the DVD/Blu-ray are going to be 3 boxes with 4 episodes each, which could mean its only going to be 12 episodes.

I hope its not true and theres more than that...

Unless it is some insane bloody violence on sound speed and supernatural (checks the frontpage) "historical" showdown, I will view it, in pursuit of values. The poster does make it look like Hellsing or some third rate glorified fighting/murder show. And I hope I am extremely wrong.

No mostly because how its all red and the guys behind him are looking as if they are going to die one by one each episode while confronting the two. But thanks for trying to dispel my fears.

There are some gory murders but they are not the focus and there's nothing supernatural about the series. It's a pretty multifaceted series, it's not only a action manga but it also has comedy, cooking, survival and hunting tips, history and ainu customs lessons. It's nothing like Hellsing. Also all the characters in the poster are important to the story, not fodder.

I hateth comedy. I will gladly see it, if anything, for the cultural dimension. But would be glad if it turns out to have more dimensions than that. I will greatly and loudly discourage unjustified and excessive violence, of course.

I just know that Kenichiro Suehiro is composing the music so it’s worth the watch just for that

Maybe, but I hope it does not come completely off the fact that the whole "Re:Zero" narrative is extremely popular. And in that everything about it, presumably, is great.

Nope, Girls Last Tour, which honestly is my favorite soundtrack of all time

I've swept the soundtrack a little, and found it somewhat generic. Hope the Kamui will dispel my initial impression. I personally cherish Hiroyuki Sawano and his student Hayashi Yuki.

It’s definitely not generic. Plain? Definitely. It doesn’t have many intricacies or unusual instrumentation. At it’s core the music is very simple, but at the same time it’s very effective. If anything I would call the soundtrack of Girls’ Last Tour unique because a lot of composers try and make things sound complex and hard instead of effective

madlads, expect some madlads
and the fact that all factions have their own greed and selfishness make this series have no "good guy" or "bad guy"
since they are all equally greedy and selfish except for the convicts

Insulting adaptation, it's full of QUALITY, a shame. They made complex character designs for the anime but they can't fucking keep up. Just read the manga.
