What I've watched of this season is the singular worst experience I've had watching anime

I've seen the first episode of this, and somehow it rendered me (Almost literally) painfully impatient for the relationship to progress when the 25 episode prequel left me devoid of such complaints. I don't understand how anyone could see this and be motivated to continue, when it's so thoroughly entrenched in the worst tropes of the genre. Misunderstandings as the sole source of conflict, distinctly artificial tension and the general obliviousness of the characters. It significantly decreased my fondness for the series and the genre it's a part of.

I just wanted to shout my opinions into the uncaring void, please don't get too caught up in the intricacies of my argument.

Yo,read the source material. You know maybe you might start to understand the story better if you just tried harder..
Is it really natural to expose yourself to more of what you consider the worst thing you've ever experienced. Plus, I have no reason to believe the manga is different, and I don't like manga, and I kind of do know how it proceeds.

Also, in what way could the idea I have be wrong?

You said you have no interest in manga, but you were posting your negative preferences for this anime so wholeheartedly. I just though you might change your opinion about this adaptation if you read the original content. It seems there might be a misunderstanding...
If there was, it'd be better for it to be explained than for me to find it on my own, because as I said. Kimi ni Todoke Season 2 is my least favourite anime of all time just from the first episode, so the risk/reward of reading the manga is incredibly low.

What you say is something I can completely agree on. This anime left a horrible taste at the end of every episode, even watching it in one run, it was the only that made me genuinely want to smash my own head into my table. This was the only feeling i could describe I had while watching the entire anime. Honestly I am grateful that you posted your thoughts on this as it was pretty much the same as what I saw in this anime, and I am thankful that I am not the only one who thought this, after reading through the forums about how people actually liked it, especially when they watched it weekly when it was airing. I felt like my life would've been better off without this anime, since I too, have lost fondness for this genre.

He does not have the wrong idea, he is judging it in it's entirety on the anime, in an anime forum for it, which the correct thing to do. For you to tell someone to read the manga to clear up a misunderstanding is wrong. If viewers have to read the manga to enjoy the anime, that is already suggesting that the anime is bad, since it is incomplete on it's own. An anime adaptation should be able to be enjoyed in it's entirety as a standalone, without a need to refer to the source material to understand something.

It's ironic how misunderstandings is the only thing that came out of this anime.

Don't worry, the fondness will come back after a while.

Kimi ni Todoke Season 2 ended my spree of exclusively watching high school romance anime. Now I watch them on a rare occasion.

Of the shows I dropped, it was the show I least expected to drop. The first season actually made me confident that I would enjoy the second, but somehow it managed to lose all of that hope for its success. I'm also really glad I'm not alone. It's the one's who like this season that should be alone, and that not being the case is terrifying. Well, Trump's president, so I guess people are just weird.

Personally I'm a huge fan of shoujo anime, and I enjoy a lot of tropes that KnT used, but it was too much even for me... I have no idea why this is one of the most popular manga series in this demographic, it's soooo slow and boring! The only decent characters are the supporting ones, especially Ayane and Arai-sensei. Main couple is so terrible ;_;

Honestly I can't agree more. I have been trying to get through the waist deep pile of trash they call season 2 of this anime and its so old. They threw every bit of character progression away episode 1 and now they are too awkward to talk to each other because of chocolate..... The entire drama of this season started because of chocolate. I would love to say it gets better, but my god the trash gets deeper and deeper. 90% of the season is them avoiding each other instead of interacting. They internally monologue for half of each episode about literally the same stuff, but don't figure out what to do about it. They pull random panning shots of the school and the locations they are at for literally 4 minutes straight. They had to add in a character who is there to just create drama for their relationship and he somehow manages to be the only character that is enjoyable. Every other character is moping around for stupid reasons and not attempting to solve the problems. I haven't finished yet but my god when they need to do 3+ confession scenes to get the feelings across, you know they are just trying to making it last as long as possible. Also, who thought of putting Jo in as a character, because he is the most annoying character I have ever seen. Jo and his gang of boys ruin every scene they are in and its so annoying. Like I can think and anime is great even if a few things bother me, but when the entire season is pulling teeth then there is something wrong.

And no, I haven't read the manga or source material or anything. I also will not because it is more than likely more of this trash. An anime should be able to stand on its own without making people having to read the source material to not see it as a dumpster fire.

Ugh its so bad that I honestly feel like bleaching my mind of this show by watching Oreimo's OVAs again, at least that trash had a story.....

Apparently the season gets good again for the last 4 episodes. I think I might watch the last 4 episodes alone if I ever decide to re-watch the first season. I don't care if it won't make sense, I'd rather not watch season 2 at all than sit through the trash that is the first 8 episodes of it (assuming the quality is consistent with episode 1).

Took 71 chapters for the protags to kiss iirc, and this isn't covered by the anime, which ends at chapter 46 according to mangaupdates.
I remember seeing someone calling this "Misunderstandings : the manga", which tbh is a quite suiting nickname.

But it was really cute and heart-warming to read I guess, mostly because of it's innocence.

I have finished the S2 anime and
It really was not worth watching whatsoever, it was not worth putting myself through 5 hours of what I could quote as "The singular worst experience I've had watching anime." What happened in the last 4 episodes should've happened on the second episode.
I am someone who strongly believes in the importance of a conclusion or ending of an anime, that it can even change my opinion on an anime that was bad thoughout the whole season, but KnT S2 was the first anime I've watched where my opinion has not changed whatsoever.
I will never recommend anyone to watch this anime, even with the ending it had. Guilty Crown and Mirai Nikki was able to change my opinion drastically with their endings, but this has failed to do so.

So, is it worth watching it if I skip over the first 8 episodes? I don't care if it doesn't make sense. I enjoyed watching the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya even though beforehand I hadn't seen the series itself. I just want to know whether the content covered in the last 4 episodes is strong enough to be worth watching blind.

It may help remove the horrible taste that it left in your mouth, although since you have only watched the first episode, the taste would have not been as bad as if you watched the whole thing. So I'd say that if you have gotten over the season and have no attachment or have already lost a sense of obligation to see how it ends, then it's not worth watching the last four episodes.
The last 4 episodes itself aren't that great, and I even feel betrayed by it since a lot of it is just filled with chibi scenes and comic relief, making rest of the series just look like it was for nothing (which it was).

Also, I have to say that The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya was just a movie excellent enough to make me think watching the tv series beforehand was worth it, even when I thought the series wasn't that good, so I think Disappearance of Haruhi was just an outlier, or rather KnT S2 was the outlier for how painful it was.

After completing the first season I was surprised to see that the whatever progress was made was bulldozed over. I was so dissapointed by the first episode, so much that I had to watch the second episode which left me thinking, "I could have skipped over both of these episodes and missed absolutely nothing." It was like watching a recap episodes of the first season then watching a recap episode of the first recap episode. We understand the characters already, we spent the whole first season going over it. So now I'm forcing myself to continue watching until anything happens in this anime so that I can find out how frustrated I can get at poor pacing.
