*Note: I have not read the manga.

The final episode of Kakegurui left me rather confused. In one of the final scenes, the young, childish member of the student council is shown talking to the student council president on the phone, telling the president about Jabami's gamble against the student council president herself. The student council president didn't seem to be at the school, and it didn't make any sense that the childish student council member would do this since the episode had just shown us that the gamble between Jabami and the student council president had resulted in a draw. There would be no reason for the childish member of the student council to tell the student council president about a gamble in which she, herself, had participated.

As I went back through the episodes, I realized something odd:

At the beginning of episode 8, the student council president leaves the school.

In episode 9 the masked student council member (who later turns out to be the president) is shown in the crowd.

Episode 10 opens with the president at a meeting which is apparently held somewhere outside of the school. Immediately following this, the masked student council member offers to be the dealer.

Episode 11 again opens with the president at the meeting away from the school. Directly after this, the masked student council member reveals herself to be the student council president.

Episode 12 ends with the student council president apparently somewhere outside of the school.

Up until the series' later episodes listed above, the entire show has been clearly presented in chronological order and it has given us no indication that the scenes in episodes 9 - 11 were not in chronological order as well.

If this is the case, does that mean that the masked member of the student council was not the real student council president? Did Jabami not gamble with the real student council president in episode 12?

Or am I somehow horribly mistaken?

They are probably twins or something. Not sure what you are so confused about, it clearly shows both characters in the same frame (the president and the masked girl which acts as the president for the final 2 episodes).

It is something like "The Prestige" if you saw that film.

The one on the phone was Ririka not Kirari(aka president)

I haven't read the manga either (but now that I've watched this awesome series I fully intend to read it). It seems to me that these two are twins but they don't want anyone to know it. They probably take turns wearing the mask and posing as the president.

This would explain why the president was so willing to make the bet to leave the academy forever. Both twins could still cheat the system by taking turns attending as the masked sister.

Indeed they are twins. Kirari is perceived to be the powerful President of the Student Council, while Ririka as VP behind her mask does not even talk.

It turnes out that Kirari stayed at the school, disguised with the mask. As such, she attended the Battle of the Stars, acted as the dealer in the game with Kaede, and played against Yumeko in the end, all the while her sister Ririka was the one talking to the other heads of the Bami family at home.

So the revelation is that Runa (the "childish girl") is the one who knows this secret (and acts as Ririka's informant), while not even Sayaka, the President's loyal and devoted assistant, is in the loop!

I think Ririka and Runa are close. Runa doesn't seem to side with Kirari but rather Ririka. More like neutral or rather the main antagonist . We have yet to see but Runa seems like more of a bad ass than the pres. If Ririka is the main antagonist I wouldn't be surprised. Is Sayaka is buffed it would be good. I am rooting for Ririka
