If you had payed any attention, it was clear from volume one (chapter two, in particular) that Fumi and her cousin (Chizu) used to have sex; this should not be a surprise at all. Chizu was clearly older than Fumi, and Chizu was the one who initiated it. If anyone was in the wrong, it was her, messing around with her younger cousin and then dumping her. Oh right, she didn't even have the decency to dump her, Fumi learned it was over due to learning that Chizu was getting married. And if no one was "in the wrong", I still understand why Fumi wouldn't want to go to Chizu's wedding, and why she had a tough time getting over it. It takes a long time for a lot of people take to move on from their first sexual partner. Not to say Fumi is perfect or anything, but in this instance I'm 100% on her side. ferruiz34 said: fumi finally confessed! what a great chapter I'm so relieved. There was no indication of this at all in the manga. Holding someone's hand and giving a pained smile doesn't mean that they are having sex with each other. The reading knows about as much as Akira knows, so being surprised is understandable considering Akira was surprised. This was intended to be a shocking revelation and it worked. The author also used a sleight of hand. The only relationship clearly shown was between Fumi and Sugimoto, and the heaviest that got was kissing. That set the understanding in the manga for what dating actually entailed. |
Sure. I take back "clear", and say it was heavily implied. The whole page was all black, essentially saying "look at this, this is important". Compare page 64  - click to enlargewith page 65 where the "handholding" happens.  - click to enlargeThis isn't just "handholding". Fumi is naked. Look how embarrassed she is. And read the actual dialogue: "Fumi-chan, do you want to do it with me?" Does that sound like she's asking Fumi if she's in the mood for playing some Smash Bros? |
