I couldn't bear to watch this anime tear down the goodness of the original manga (Negima will always be the best imo), god... I dropped this at Ep10 (only got half-way in ep 11 and I had to close the tab). What is EVEN this anime??? Not only did they skip two(?) arcs but also cut out SANTA?!? WHHHHHHAAAAAA????

I thought the Negima adaptation was BAD this... this tops that... I didn't think that was possible. I remember grinding through the first adaptation with nothing other than my love for this series to pull myself through that anime only to see this.

To be fair, this is my reaction after I watched this episode (And the whole anime):

PLS ANIME GODS GIVE IS THE ANIME REBOOT OF NEGIMA BY PRODUCTION I.G. OR SHAFT (the OVA they did was Godly- it's like this series was made for them to animate. fanservice and all).

I highly agreed with you, but I will rather have ufotable do the anime remake instead of Shaft since they already fucked up this franchise twice (Thought one of then was Akamatsu's fault to make a horrible story plots).

How could Touta be the first person she ever fell in love with when she openly admitted that she loved both Nagi and Negi?

Just read the manga or at least watch the UQH OVA and you will understand why Touta is the first person Yukihime ever love.

Someone explained it to me, so I take it that's what topic the OVA covers then? lol.

I've never really cared for the Negima universe, and this series hasn't really changed my opinion. This episode was probably the most disappointing episode of the season.

#1 Anime only,
#2 no idea why they put her there without any explanation. For now She works as plot device for season 2 / UQ Holder anime reboot and some other loose ends fix it.

As an anime only watcher, I can say i enjoyed this even if it felt a little rushed. I won't mind a second season but I doubt it.

I'm carving for more. I guess i will try the previous negima adaptations.

You're being deceived by the anime.

How could you drop a good manga cuz the adaptation suck bulls?
Seriously try the manga, it's like 100 times better.

Summing up I would say that it is not all to be rejected, but the moments not well chosen, are far greater than the best moments. The golden opportunities to do well were there, unfortunately it was wrong to adapt what you had in your hands. Half satisfied, anyway a sequel I would see it.

Like I said you're super mislead by the trash adaptation.

There's a training arc in the manga that makes the power level makes much more sense.

Fighting direction is not terrible in manga..

Like I said you're seeing like 20% of the manga material, and anime constantly skipping stuffs.

Sigh... Another good franchise got mislead by trash anime and people thought the manga is like that.. The manga has some of the best/ coolest battle scene/ penal in any shonen.

I think it's a Story for Touta, I'm very happy at the beginning of the episode that only tells about touta and Uq holder but at the end of the episode even be a bad story telling about negima, I always hope this story only for Touta and UqHolder

These last 3 episodes are about where I'm at in the translated manga. So I guess i'll see how badly adapted this whole section was.

I still don't understand what happened to the ending of the Negima manga. In the end were Negi and Nagi not at the school with all the girls and it gave an epilogue for all of their progress? Was that entire portion retconned to a dead Nagi, and Negi now possessed?

Screw the Touta x Eva plotline, was trash in the manga, is trash in the anime.

It's rushed as all heck, the anime skipped tons of arcs from the manga, and I have not read the story arc from the last few episodes and I've read about 100 chapters from the manga. On one hand I am glad they kind of omitted most of the trash filler harem romcom chapters from the series, but on the other hand we're missing out on some pretty good story sans the trash Yukihime x Touta storyline.

Aside from the lovestory between Eva and Touta which is a major reason I dislike the UQH series (I shipped Negi x Eva and Touta's cucking me, and messed up Eva's characterization to fit this timeline, and she's supposed to be his freakin foster mother), it's annoying that a lot of powerups/abilities were given to Touta just because he's got the genes of Negi and Asuna, magia erebea, lightning god mode (god damn I need the lightning god mode 2: Negi ver. animated from MSN series). A lot of it felt like he didn't really earn them, and that's also true when it comes to his connections with other characters, it's like he's gifted a really good pathway and he just had to walk on it. It wasn't quite the same in the original MSN series, where Negi had to work hard to achieve everything he's got despite being a very gifted individual.

Best part about UQH has to be everything involving the original MSN, from the classmates from class 3A, Negi himself, Fate Averruncus, Evangeline Mc Dowell, Jack Rakan, Nagi, Mage of the Beginning, and basically the main plot. I felt a piercing pain in my heart seeing Negi submit to Mage of the Beginning after the interaction with Asuna in this episode as the mark on his face became more apparent, so sad to see him in this state.. knowing that he had a big heart in the original MSN series.. I really hope they could find a way to save Negi in this time line.

pls gib me dat juicy msn adaptation plox

My first dip into UQ Holder and I can see why it's popular. It's really a wild ride! I would love it if like HxH it would get a new series at some point adapting the entire manga properly.

"Seriously WTF did I just watch?" was the first thing that came in my mind after completing this show. I haven't watched or read the other Negima franchise but if this is the core concept of the show than I am better off without them. I read some reviews that said the creators didn't adapt this well and so on. But I don't know what difference would it make since logic and rationality are not-existent.

The show is definitely rushed since half of the things are unexplained and pretty left up to viewer imagination like the who does Yukihime love or why is Touta so stupid. But then I stopped caring. The whole immortality thing is also as ridiculous as it sounds since half of characters are randomly immortals . And the main characters seem like masochists who enjoy being gutted by the their OP enemies instead of killing them. It feels like they are going to be in this endless loop of good guys don't win and bad guys don't loose till the end of the manga presumably. Well it is the same trend that has been going on in shonen anime. But what I hated the most was how it displays seriousness with all the blood/gore and then proceed makes a joke out of it with that lame humor. It just kills the intensity or excitement of the situation.

Anyways I thought this show was garbage or maybe this anime/manga is only for the shonen fans of the series.

OK, it was too rushed... Seeing again the full class was nice, but it was a weird way to end the anime.
The 3-4 last episodes were so rushed that some parts were hard to understand, especially the flashback with Eva. It's too bad because the beginning was entertaining and the animation is good.
One day, I should read Negima the story looks interesting.

not a very satisfying ending, in fact, it's horrible. I don't believe Ken Akamatsu would write something like this in the manga, so I would assume the manga should be better at ending the arc.

it feels so many development were left behind and they didn't animate them.

I mean, "look, it's our world hero, appeared in front of us, in the middle of Mahora tournament, who's supposed to be dead. and there's Eva and Fate too, our world hero best friend. let's get excited watching them interrupted the tournament."
really?
that's what comes to my mind when I watch from episode 10 to 12.

I was gonna rate at least 7/10 if they give a good ending in this arc, but it looks like I'm gonna stay at 6/10, that's only because of good battle scene.

The gore/suffering moments feel so forced sometimes, they even managed to do it ripping off the loli's teeth.. wtf....

Anyway, I was ready to give this a 7/10, but unfortunately the second half of this episode managed to decrease my score. Nice. 6/10

Just a note: Never read the manga, and I don't intend to.

As a fan of the UQ! Holder manga, this anime is complete trash. They tried so hard to pander it to Negima fans. I hope this never gets a S2 and maybe in 10 years they can try a re-make and actually do the series justice because it's much more than a "sequel" to Negima.

This is basically what The Last Airbender film was to the Avatar series. It doesn't exist.

Back to the manga to remind myself that the story and characters are actually amazing.

Two words......

Rushed af

Like seriously tho what was this? It felt like I was watching some side story episodes of Negima?!

First, what a shitty introduction Imo. I don't read mangas usually but I guess it would be easier for the manga readers to grasp onto the anime environment and characters quick.

Second, I've only watched it's prequel (the newer Negima?!) and what kind of a jump was that? I mean literally everything changed ffs I don't get it.

Third, there are so many questions regarding the characters and their lifestyles whomever they decided to drag in on this sequel from the first season.

Fourth, like the story consisted a shit ton of plotholes. They ran out of ideas or something? Combined negi's and all of his student's genes?(heres another question tho why tf did they even wanna make a child/clone like that in the first place?).

Im guessing here that JC didn't do a good job adapting the story looking at the angry fans here lol. It seems that shaft did a better job at introduction but JC seems to have put in irrelevant bits and pieces in this anime.

Im quite disappointed with the characters

First
Most of them are weak and lack skills and other abilities. I guess i just expected more because they give off the vibes of "strongest" within the organization.

Second
Why cant just kirie resets again and again to make plans so they can turn the tables more.

Third
Its just lame that Eva and Fate were dubbed as the strongest something but cant even put a fight.

Fourth
Lack of character development. I didn't see anyone improved, its like they just become like that in that episode. I guess i shouldn't demand much for 12 episodes. But the MC relying on his uncontrollable power is just too boring and its not even that uncontrollable.

But the scrubbing the back fifty times was actually funny. I just hope I could see more of UQ no. 2 and the glasses guy.

So glad to see the waifus of S1 again and naked, especially Konoka! She's so damn cute!

I really like that black sleeveless outfit of Evangeline. She's such a sexy lolita in it.

Anyway, it feels like 24 eps of content was cut and squeezed into 12 which is unfortunate since this series has a nice potential.

Despite all of that, I still enjoyed this anime thanks to the top level visuals. It was such a treat! The battles are quick and cool and the waifus are drawn so nicely! Overall a 7/10 for me.

The best way to describe this series ….

Great first couples of episodes and plot

Then it devolved into anime tropes and “because anime” logic

Ova usually don’t really affect the main story, but these 3 Ova actually fit after the main story quite well, and they were really entertaining.

Although, it made Yuki saying “your 500 years to late” even worse and even more illogical, as least in the anime, it is obvious from the beginning of the show that she loves him, so I don’t know why she is holding on him like this, especially what learn in the Ova.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.
