In the newest episode of Osake wa Fuufu ni Natte kara (episode 7), I feel like it's become increasingly apparent that there is honestly a bad side to Chisato and Sora's relationship. Before, there seemed to be some occasion, some slight celebration, and fair reasoning to Sora serving Chisato a drink. First episode was an introduction to characters and what we're in for, not much relevance to any plot, but it was honestly acceptable. Second episode was more of an excuse to drink something new, which is kind of odd. Though it could also be allowed to slide by, as she's a responsible drinker wanting more time for a relaxing drink with her partner, which is fine. Third episode was Sora capitalizing on a romantic gesture he did at her job after an upsetting incident, a great reason there. Fourth episode was a random romantic gesture from Sora after seeing Chisato oddly hungry one night in bed, not too good that she was drinking that late at night, but it was still nice of him. Fifth episode continued to show that Sora does try his best to work with Chisato and help her when she's feeling down, such as that day as cutting close to a deadline would be grueling and stressful. Sixth Episode was a celebratory drink, a common reason to drink, no argument there.

Seventh episode arrives and it detracts from the normal formula going on here. Sora giving Chisato a drink from her being scared by something on television is something the previous episodes would have us anticipate as way to introduce a reason to drink for the episode. It goes further on this by having her get so affectionate and attempting forms of intimacy with Sora, but Sora comically telling her that he's trying to watch TV.

The odd part about this is that Sora essentially just got her drunk to get her to stop being scared and did so because he just likes that side of her better... which he's entirely aware of since they've both discussed the topic of how she is when she's drunk in previous episodes.

My gripe is that this episode was both kind of out of character for Sora and if was intentional, displays an oddly controlling side of Sora in which he essentially uses alcohol as a tool to sedate Chisato when she's behaving in a particular fashion at home. Possibly extending from situations beyond just when she's clingy from a scary TV show.

That's the point of alcohol isn't it? Sora does it because he likes the dere side of her once she is drunk and just did it this once for fun. If you've noticed, he likes playing with and teasing her with alcohol (remember when he trolled her with a drink which she thought was alcohol?). Imo this is quite normal. You don't need a reason to have fun or joke with your partner or anyone

Jesus fucking Christ holy shit you are way over-analyzing this show. Good grief. It's a 3 minute rom-com about a bartender husband who likes making drinks for his wife because her drunk side is cute. What the fuck compelled you to over-think such a basic premise? Do you actually think the author is sitting there writing out these 4-koma stories thinking "muahaha, if only these poor foolish readers new that I'm actually portraying Sora as manipulative and abusive and Chisato as undesirable unless she's drunk! Bwahahahaha my writing is genius!!!"

If you have a bartender for a spouse then you'll get served drinks duh...
"Manga readers are annoying, all they do is complain or spoil the anime we discuss in an anime forum.
They should really do their whining at manga forums.
