Too much drama queens and crybabies for my taste...

Also, did anyone count how many time they say "sorry"?

Loved that black dude though.

Psajdak's recommendation: rather watch Jordan Schlansky videos.

What are you even doing watching a drama, then? A drama.

One thing is a character in a drama, and another drama queen.

I am very emotional person, but over the top snivelling just made my eyes roll too much.

Can't complain about animation though.

Yeah, I did, and I did understood the "point".

I think it really has to do with Kyoani itself, and what they added as animators, because it reminded me of some of their previous titles, or rather how characters were directed, in a, IMO, forced way to provoke emotions...

Especially, certain scene in anime I was so disgusted with, I had to delete all of it from my list - Clannad, in this case Clannad AS.

Still, as much as they were annoying, I give credits to characters for not making me puke like Homura from Madoka series managed to do, but that's another story.

Sho-chan says 'sorry' a lot of times because she is kind hearted.. she loses her kindness when ishida starts fighting her in the class. I hope you know the scene. Sho even says in the scene with a strange voice that "I'am trying my best" which means she is trying her best to be friends with everyone even though she does not fit in there group/school.

Thats the whole point of the drama.. You will never know the pain of being a deaf person and the problems they face.

If you still think there is extra drama then its your opinion and it can't be helped. But do keep in mind that these things even happen in real life..

My opinion for you would be to try to relate the story to real life situations.

I don't want for anyone to be deaf, or blind, or mute, or being impaired in any kind of a way, but I have a feeling like many people who liked this title thought like deaf female MC was automatically awesome, because, well, she's deaf, and that's touching.

Like being deaf, or using sign language is something revolutionary in anime.

That being said, I just didn't felt sorry for her, simply because I kind, on a daily basis see families passing by beggars, or people don't have an arm or leg, like they don't exist; and you know they can't help them anyway.
It's just the world being cruel.

Also, there is the fact that I experienced Night Shift Nurses, Bible Black, and La Blue Girl stuff at the age when I was still a little boy, and believe me stuff that there happens to women is far worse than what anyone in Koe no Katachi experience, most of it being first world problems.

Oh and, that part where Shoko says she hates herself, oh dear, that part was so much Kyoani trying to shove feels and empathy down our throats.
No one her age is like that.

If nothing else, I promise you I will, never, ever give Air chance. :(

Already made this thread when it came online bro.

"This is disappointing" check it out why make a duplicate thread? And anyway yeah this was rather disappointing compared to your name.

The manga is basically identical (except for a few things that the movie cut out) so I don't think Kyoani are to blame for too much of it

I don't know why I even bothered reading this old thread, but i just want to give my opinion.
It makes me feel unwell seeing that this OP didn't just care and called it "over-dramatical", just because they have seen people in "worse situations".

A deaf girl needs as much care and friends just like any other, because if not, things can turn out terrible. And i believe it's a beautiful story of showing such affections, correcting your mistakes (that's why the loads of sorry's) to live a happier life. Something that everyone should learn from and OP definitely didn't understand that.

How the manga addresses psychology and social politics is unlike anything I've seen before(exaggerating a bit here) and the stuff you pointed out regarding shoko is what makes her so good and futhermore teenagers are petty they are stuck in their small world and consider the problems they have to be the most important to then that doesn't mean they look down on other problems of different people.
Maybe have an actual conversation with a real life person before brushing something off as being to dramatic and that there are "bigger problems in the world"

I wish you will get 100 killing punches by 100 people and then they will say "100 sorrys" to you so you can understand the importance of sorry.

So, a movie/tv series doesn't need to be special to be great. All it needs to do is get the right notes on the right spots (for the most part).

I understand you not liking it personally I think it really well reflects our generation where bullying is a huge concern. The movie teaches people how to change their past mistakes and it also teaches people to get out of depression. The main point of this movie isn't a love story you will understand if you change your view that it's not a love story it's about a boy who learns to love himself again!

Fully agree, most overrated anime movie. It's so excessive with the petty drama and bullying. Its not even fun to watch, just a slog to sit through.
