THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Fourth arc comes to a close. I hate to say it, but this was another mystery where the true culprit was painfully obvious. From the very first second Oki stepped onto the screen, he might as well have had a flashing neon sign that said "I'M THE KILLER."

I mean, who was only guy (THE ONLY GUY) in the entire story who was not inside the house when the father left his study to meet the killer? It was Oki. Every single other person was with Sakon sitting around the table. THEN we see the father killed. THEN Oki wanders into the house about two minutes later. From the very beginning, it could have been only him. Yet we had to sit through three episodes of "suspense."

And it was pretty obvious that Oki invented the phone call from the beginning. I mean, the maid answers the phone, there's nobody on the other side of the line. Then Oki, who is the local arms merchant, decides he needs to run real fast and intercept the call even though he's not part of the family. Highly suspicious. And he starts going, "WHAT? THIS IS KYOUICHI? YOU KILLED YOUR FATHER?" Saying all this stuff out loud. Did that fool anyone for even a second?

At least we got a cool finish with Oki going crazy and trying to kill everyone. The culprit in the first three arcs had sympathetic qualities, but Oki was just insane.

Overall though, I still didn't like these last two arcs as much as the first two.

I had come to understand all tricks and the murderer almost as soon as I saw the hints..
This episodes case was way to easy. I hate when they explain the motives in supernatural ways such as possesion. If it is supposed to be a mystery/detective anime they are not allowed to bring in supernatural occurrences cause that will change the entire view on the world that the story is set in.
