I always thought his wish was to be a full demon and now I'm reading he wanted Kikyo's love/heart? Talk about a letdown. I can't tell if this was because of Onigumo's heart's or Naraku's own choice.

And why in episode seven did he need to take back his heart yet again for negative thoughts to kill her? Why is this chick a special snowflake?

I still think Kikyo didn't have to die entirely.
She could have been brought back to life, lost her memory and started a new life abroad.
