All this politics stuff and drama...

For what's worth, the news media always seems to get involved with this type of stuff. Hoshina needs to be reminded of who she is and her role. I think Shizuka did a somewhat decent job at reminding her of that. It's just too bad the media puts everything out of context like with their news of "Shizuka's steamy affair".

Those evil Rougai Party bastards! Using biased media, sleazy tabloids, etc...against the Idol Dietwomen! And now they even have their own evil idols! What can Shizuka, Natsuki and our girls possibly do now?

Looks like the media were being immature pricks this episode trying to disparage all the idol dietwoman. :(

Big Man politician has finally made his move, we got evil idols now?
Let's hope our idols can show the big bad politicians who's boss. xD

Wondering what they meant by "the culprit is among us." I guess there's a diet woman who's helping the Rougai Party?

Also evil idols enter the fray, wondering if this conflict will take up more than just next episode. It's sad seeing Natsuki so down, especially considering that she's one of the most positive. We need to get her back up quick.
Nice to see everyone (for the most part), it was nice to see Momo again~

Nice to see the Rougai party finally getting serious, they have been doing a bad job the last 7 episodes, they even hired idols themselves, fight fire with fire I guess.

Spreading rumors that the young ones still wet the bed, that was pretty funny.

It was nice to see all the idol groups come together like that.

What in the world was that?

From the premise to what it does to everything in this show I never had high hopes for it. But when I saw episode 2 my view changed as I saw a place where the Idols could make change with a populist message. They could be the arms of the people helping their spirits and fight for desires. Sure they may not have the knowledge and know how that seems necessary in politics but they could be true to themselves and they would have heart. For that silver of time it sounded like Idol Jihen might have something amazing on their hands. Until they didn't. Rather than tackle the issues with nuance, they opted to either go the route of wasted episodes with ridiculous conclusions. Even the episodes that did start to tackle this area were so hamfisted that they lacked the impact that they could have had. Rougai was so clearly evil and corrupt and there was no in-between. While it wasn't what I wanted the show could at least be accepted it has just a simple Idols = good, Rougai = bad plot line. It was simple but at least there was some merit in it.

Why am I saying all of this? Because even that silver of hope was crashed into and driven off the train tracks with this clustercrap of an episode. Were really all of their efforts for nought? Is this really the future that they're going to write. All of their progress being drifted down the drain with ideas like "well they can't dump in the dump so they dump in the town" or "the cats that were all fine being there before hand are now a hassle because SCREW LOGIC WE NEED ISSUES." Either the Rougai party made up some BS or this show has no idea how to handle itself. And then the tabloid, oh joy this show can't seem to get any bit lower.

Maybe I expected too much from a show about idol politicians. Well I know I did. I know I was dreaming way higher than this show would likely reach, but that said I didn't think it'd go this low before. As contrived as the story was before at least it fit in the basics of a decent story. But this just doesn't. This is mucking up old drama just for the sake of tension. It's not fun, it's not interesting, it's nothing but agonising and painful.

And they could have made it better. There were ways to portray those same issues by showing the nuances of the issues. The fact that they can have negative consequences. But at the same time their progress shouldn't be reversed. It should be fair and show the actual ramifications of what they do. That said the issue with a lot of the problems that they had is that they were made without downsides to begin with. At least the preschool one was fair. Maybe for the town you could have some traditionalists who dislike the more gaudy display there and who wanted the trash fully removed rather than repurposed. Or maybe some people could think the rocket was a waste of time and money. both of those are possible. To be fair the cat episode was so obvious that getting the cats back was the correct answer that's it's impossible to turn around. I mean not only is it part of the island's tradition, it's part of their tourism as well. The fact that there was a politician stupid enough to try to kill their tradition and tourism (basically the most important things to that area) in one pointless move for no benefit should have been a sign for the terrible plot decisions of the future. that there is no way that could be twisted. Politicians are always going to have people who hate them and people who like them. This episode could have been much better done if Natsuki's issue wasn't having to do with the failures of past efforts but rather having to overcome that she's not going to make everyone smile. No solutions are going to please everyone. (Except bringing the cats back because seriously... how did that become an episode?) That seems like a much better issue for an idol politician to have to deal with. As an idol she wants to make everyone smile but as a politician she's going to have to make choices, and sometimes only one side will be happy.

But no instead the show takes a dump on their previous work. I could accept the easy solutions and telling that happened in the show because at least the conclusion to each episode was nice to see. There was at least joy in seeing their populism to succeed. It wasn't the best writing (or even good writing) but at least there was a nice little message there. But now... it's just garbage. The one last thing that made this show worthwhile has been trounced on. And I can't even believe it. In the episode I wasn't sure why I was still watching at that point. In some ways I'm still not sure, but since I'm 8 episodes down and I'm trying to watch a lot of shows this season I'm still going to continue it. But that's the only reason why.

I'm not sure if this is the worst episode I've seen all season (Well since I saw an episode of Hand Shakers and Forest Fairy Five I don't know if it can claim that anyway) but it sure does put itself in the conversation. And considering the aforementioned Hand Shakers and Forest Fairy Five... that's something no show should ever get close to. And yet... they did.

Wait, you're thinking too hard. This series is already broken and weird as fuck from the start, don't use any logic to watch it. This series is so bad, it makes them so good.

Anyone else got Idolmaster flashbacks with the fake news 'n stuff ?

As for this episode well... It felt weird. More than usual.
Those evil idols at the end look anything but serious & evil. They just look silly.

I found the biased reporting spear-headed by the Rougai party pretty close to what we actually see in politics/news today. This may have been the first episode of the series where I was actually a bit intrigued.

The story isn't over yet so let's stay tuned. I think we're going to find out is why the Idols were truly needed in government. I expect we'll see some joy and populist success.

I'm still watching and hopefully they do something good with it in the end, but it all depends on how they pull that off and what they cast as the truth. A smear job is fine if it was a smear job, but hollow words of truth would be disappointing.

Fake news.

That Rougai Party is the lowest of the low. They are really doing their everything to ruin the reputation of all the Idol Dietwomen. Poor girls. :(

And now there are even some evil idols who are working for the Rougai Party. Things doesn't look really good right now.

"Next episode, the culprit is among us!"

Yeah, it seems so.
