I'm not trying to bash on Konosuba, I think it's an entertaining anime, but i wouldn't call it a ground-breaking experience. The humour was not particularly clever or mature. Most jokes revolved aound characters having some sort of perversion or obsession, and i don't know why i'm supposed to laugh whenever Aqua gets eaten by a giant frog. The animation is whatever, it's nothing spectacular for 2016 and i don't see much of a difference with season 2.

So, what i'm really trying to wrap my head around is why so many people set their expectations so high for season 2 and ended up being disappointed when they got the exact same thing as season 1. What were they even expecting? And what's more baffling is that the people who complain about season 2 are the same people who loved the hell out of season 1. They say things like "Season 1 was a MASTERPIECE, but season 2 is pure GARBAGE!" You usually expect these fanboys to get really defensive about their show and overlook most of the flaws that might apear within it. But for some reason they went the other way and started complaining about everything instead of being happy that their dumb comedy is getting another season.

It's only been 2 episodes. Geez, give it some time before you spout your BS.

Don't know about you but the only real complaints to speak of that I've seen for S2 thus far has been about the art, which admittedly probably was worse than ever in ep 1 of S2, but seemed to be back to what it used to be by ep 2 again so it should be fine. Not that it was ever a huge problem considering the comedic nature of the show itself anyway

+1, Konosuba is overrated and not funny. Only people into Japanese humor and weebs/otakus can really get into it. Winter 2017 anime, ANIMATE something!
Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen

I have to agree. I wouldn't say the anime is 'great'. Instead, it's 'okay' or 'decent' at most.

It's an alright anime tbh. Rated both seasons as a 7 so far. The first season was trying to figure out what it wanted to be for like half of the season. The story and comedy has a lot of lows but there are some moments that I liked. Funny animes to me are more along the lines of Gintama and Saiki. People were anticipating this to be the comedy of the year, but tbh I find myself laughing more from the other animes of this season. Well, no hate from me intended. It's just from my point of view/personal opinion.

It's not really my problem. I just saw someone not finding KonoSuba great and I agree with it. Besides, he used the term 'great' so it was a more reason for me too think the same. And you shouldn't really mind other's opinion, there is no point to it - that would only waste your time ^^

it's not entertaining and people that like it have shit taste. People that like it are as much of a problem as people who don't!

It's kind of ironic don't you think? So you're saying that the jokes are not "mature" and it's "repetitive", yet you love One Punch Man. Don't get me wrong, I love OPM so much, but their joke about Saitama's one hit kill or having straight face bored is pretty much repetitive in the manga too (so much repetitive that he doesn't even get much screentime). What constitutes as a mature joke? Who or what determines that? Are you saying that this is not your type of comedy? And you're condemning those who loves it?

What you're basically saying is "Your Anime is not that great according to my taste, and you guys should feel bad" which applies to everyone, but who are you to judge? Why do we care about your opinion? Why can't we enjoy something without being bashed about it? Is it so wrong to enjoy something we love? Are you saying that our masterpiece is not our masterpiece? Should I also bash your shit taste? Is that how this works? Won't you also get defensive about protecting your "masterpieces"?

No one even complaining about the comedy. They're only complaining about the art, because Kikuta (Chief Animation Director of the odd episodes) is bad.

Seems like you dont know what giving an opinion is. I wil not explain, being ignorant in today's world is an option. You there sir, stated a fact, saying that whomever watches knosuba is an otaku/weeb, which I dont understand on which evidence you are stating this. I find knosuba funny, entertaining, its hilarious, but of course for me, and somethings that happen are not funny to me.
In conslusion, you should have just written "I dont like konsuba, I dont find it funny" Thats it, you dont have to say what other people are for just watching an anime that entertains them.
Hopefully you are capable of understanding

Sorry if I offended you because you are a weeb, but I also said people into Japanese humor. Unless you fall under that category, then I found the right guy to blast liking Konosuba. There's my opinion, good sir, anyone that likes the humor in this show is undoubtedly a weeb, as the show is FOR weebs/otaku.

It's just my opinion, so take it however you want. As i said, this post isn't about the show itself, but rather about the unjustified reaction of the fanbase towards the second season. If anybody's trashing the show, is it's own fans. They can call it a masterpiece, i don't really care, but when they give it a 1 or 2/10 just cuz the art is a bit worse, it hink that's kinda far fetched.

And about me liking OPM, i don't think it's ironic at all. Comedy works different for everyone and people prefer different types of jokes. I'm not saying that the jokes in OPM are mature, i just prefer the characters, story and action of that show. I'm more likely to get laughs out of an anime that has a lot more going on than just the comedy, because i'm more invested and i can relate to the characters better. Konosuba doesn't really have much going on besides the comedy, and that's perfectly fine, cuz that's the kind of anime it is. The characters kinda fall in the range of light novel tropes, which is a bit of a turn-off for me, but overall, as i said before, it's entertaining, and that's what matters most.

I think you didnt get what i was trying to say but whatever. The fact that you categorize people as "weebs" for just watching a series (anime), which in this case is konosuba, is what I find insulting. You most likely dont know the definition of weeb.
"Weeabo: Someone who is obsessed with Japan/Japanese Culture/Anime, etc. and attempts to act as if they were Japanese, even though they're far from it. They use Japanese words but usually end up pronouncing them wrong and sounding like total assholes. You can find alot of these faggots clogging up the forums of Gaia Online, hanging out in the international aisle of the supermarket, or crowding the manga section of your local bookstore. Synonym of wapanese. "
And here is the source: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Weeaboo
I solely watch anime for entertaining reasons, as many of the community, and still live a normal life, so please learn the meaning of a word before using it.
I will not respond after this, I will just read your answer towards my post. Not mad btw, just trying to make a point.

lemme put a say to this.. you guys maybe hate and say "oh its my opinion" oh i am not bashing on hating it *takes time to create forum* oh i am not hating it its just my opinion *takes time to type a comment and posts it*

yeah your not hating it... some people don't understand that actually season 2 was good its developing characters and people are just judging too quickly the expect the same feel as when konosuba season 1 was released and that my friend is the wrong way to approach any anime.. their "unique" taste of anime is what drives them to hit a mix of "Masterpiece" and "Well Perfected" they do not side on one thing too much but also gives this cringe feeling that you get when watching it..

Lets take a character for example "Chris" or "Megumin" they both had screen time but Megu was in the Anime a lot more than Chris was but when you start watching you develop an set "oh its that character Chris!"
without even thinking you already know the characters and things don't get mixed up they properly organize and hand out anime..

For the war on if the show is FOR weebs/otaku no the show isn't for just weebs and otaku, my dad likes to watch anime and he is a normal functioning human being he doesn't use MAL or etc. he enjoys comedy of anime and he enjoyed Konosuba season 2 and asked me to show him when the season is airing or a new episode released. He pointed out a really good subject that you brain maybe missed was that our MC is an otaku shut-in NEET as said in the anime they are making fun of our MC and technically also showing what our MC would react or how his team of air heads would act. They represent each character well and exponentially well thought out, they make each character represent even a lifelike characteristic of my friends "Darkness" being one of my sadistic and masochistic friend , "Aqua" being me , "Megumin" as the start up i will fight you and trouble comes to me friend and lastly our MC who is an otaku and will never get laid but is also a loli pedo. Unless your more of that drama kind of person Konosuba is also not for you and you shouldn't be talking crap about it cause they were never targeting that way.. What they want is their Past Viewers to keep watching + some others so they can generate more profits from making the show.

~Only the MOST TRIGGERED WAIFU AQUA OUT THERE "Chikosei"

It isn't overrated. For people that like fantasy and comedy it is a great show. There aren't many other shows funny like this which make you laugh. (Most so-called comedy shows are boring.)

If it were scored like 9.xx it would be overrated but 8.xx is fine - if you consider that even total bullshit like Re:Zero can get 8.xx (and is even higher than KonoSuba).

A score between 8.00 and 8.50 is okay. (Lower than 8.00 would be too low, higher than 8.50 too high.)

It was great in the first half of season 1...then they decided to only tell the same repetitive joke that already got old at the time while also proving why Aqua is one of the worst and most hateful female anime characters in existence.

I heard this season is even worse...*shrugs*

That's not unusual for comedy-based shows, it either caters to your sense of humour or it doesn't.And since that's the main element of it of course that aspect will define the overall quality of the anime for many folks.

There! You should stop right there xDD It was good decision by you to drop KonoSuba. It is not for you. Also, you might want to avoid any LN adaptations if the adaptation itself has less action frames and more dialogue-based series.

Light Novels in general are more portrayed by its dialogue so I can see that you can't enjoy yourself watching a show with people talking. I can respect that. In fact, I think it was the reason why you can't appreciate KonoSuba as much. There are barely any actions and the comedy is using the tropes and using mostly character interactions as basis for their comedy. There are not much visuals from the LNs to keep you entertained.

I hope this helps to your understanding of your own entertainment standards. xDD

Lol who said i dropped it? I'm gonna keep watching it, cuz it's fun. I don't think it has to do with the fact that it's a light novel (i'm a Re:Zero fanboy myself, so that kinda defeats your point). Pure comedies just don't appeal to me as much, i need some suspense and drama to keep me pumped. And it's not like i'm an action junkie who just wants to see action frames and no dialogue. Romance anime are dialogue-based, and i'm a real sucker for those XD

Crap. I thought you are the same person as the guy who said who dropped it. You guys have the same avatar lel.

I am talking about LN who is more built upon dialogues more than action. Looking at your list, the LN adaptations you have watched have alot of good actions being produced by the studio. You have low score on Baccano/Durarara who is more focused on dialogues and character interaction. You did not seem to like Fate/Zero either due to the less fights. Re:Zero have more actions to keep you entertained and the story was truly good. SAO was there but it was shit but there are full of actions. So yeah, I am basing to your list to see how come you can't enjoy it as much. Of course, it might be wrong because I don't really know your taste and I am only looking at the surface. You understand your taste better than everyone else. xDD

I also see you did not pick Oregairu, Bakemonogatari, etc. because those LN adaptations are VERY dialogue focused.

The only difference is the art which doesn't matter considering it only adds to the comedy. Everything else is either the same or better.

You must be pretty oblivious to say the comedy is about fetishes. The main source of comedy is the RPG and Isekai parody. Also Aqua is being eaten by a frog is not funny because of that itself but because of how Aqua and other characters react to it. Seems you don't get comedy or at least Japanese comedy.

Just drop the anime. Why watch an anime you hate?

But Konosuba is absolutely hilarious for me... (esp. Aqua and Kazuma)
In fact, IMO, Konosuba is one of the best anime I watched so far..

And Konosuba isn't even THAT overrated; Konosuba S1 only has a rating of 8.05... that is too low to call it overrated; (it is high, but not that exceptional) All anime sequels generally have higher rating than its prequels because people who hate the first season stop watching. (with exception of some horrible sequels like Haruhi 2009).

Even if you hate Konosuba, its overratedness doesn't even come close to some of more popular anime.

+1, Konosuba is overrated and not funny. Only people into Japanese humor and weebs/otakus can really get into it. Winter 2017 anime, ANIMATE something!

lolwut I don't even.

If watching an anime made someone a weeb, wouldn't everyone be one? try again though, i liked the attempt
Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen

i don't really find Konosuba "funnier" than any other funny anime and i don't think it "saved anime" or anything like that, but i do agree its at least somewhat unique of a show and i can see why theres a hype train for it

i mean, Aqua not wearing panties was definitely something you don't see too often ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

anyway, i fucking love it... but if you don't... as people are saying, you don't have to watch

We're all forgetting that all this is for entertainment. If it ain't your thing oh well, if it is awesome! I mean in my opinion season 2's jokes have been better and I find myself looking forward to burning my brain cells every week for this show for no reason. I mean it isn't a masterpiece in my eyes, but it definitely is above average and gives me the entertainment and laughs I need.

I guess we all just have our own opinions regarding what we consider to be amusing or not.
Personally I find season 2 to be on the same level as season 1, rendering it immensely pleasant to watch.

I'm not trying to bash on Konosuba, I think it's an entertaining anime, but i wouldn't call it a ground-breaking experience. The humour was not particularly clever or mature.

Great is relative, is KonoSuba timeless humor? Of course not. But relatively speaking, there has not been a lot of good humorous shows (anywhere) during the past decade so KonoSuba is superior in this context. But it's anti-PC humor, despite being immature, is very appropriate for the times. So I disagree that it isn't "clever", the writer timed the change in mental landscapes very well.

So, what i'm really trying to wrap my head around is why so many people set their expectations so high for season 2 and ended up being disappointed when they got the exact same thing as season 1.

The disappointment is with the Studio, not the content. Hating Studio Deen is a requirement it seems on MAL.

But there is another factor: like many people who enjoyed season 1, I binged read the entire series between episode 4 and 5, this I believe is the best way to enjoy the humor of KonoSuba since you can see the characters develop much faster than the animation. The end of season 1 was a disappointment, now I can objectively see why the animators did it (there was no promise of a season 2), but the chronology of the series has been disrupted, so it is easy to understand why some fans were less than enthusiastic.

You know an anime is great when someone starts a dedicated topic on the forums explaining how the anime isn't good.

Doesn't this make you hungry?

The only difference is the art which doesn't matter considering it only adds to the comedy. Everything else is either the same or better.
I couldn't disagree more. The art for the first episode of season two is abyssmal. I honestly can't recall seeing anything quite as bad. I see amateurs on youtube with less time and money crank out better animations. It's insultingly bad.
