I'm torn. I want to know more about seiyuu (why not just translate it to "voice actor"?) work but the first episode felt like a half-baked Shirobako episode. Characters are not natural but more "archetypy" and obviously moe (high school girl and kawaii ichigo girl, come on), segments with the talking puppet also lack in narrative flow. It feels like someone at Gonzo watched Shirobako, then realized it sold and decided that's the way to revive the studio. Throw in some Evangelion and huzzah, we're ready to get those BDs selling. It's not bad, but I think I'll also wait for more episodes to come out and read more reviews about this one before deciding to hop into story.
Obviously inspired by Shirobako... but oh gawd they tried way too hard to make the characters moe.. chibi, klutzy, and all that cutesy crap.
Not so much cute as it was annoying. And semi-forced dramatic scenes...
It does cover some aspects of being a seiyuu that I like (greetings, seating, variety of people), but it makes me kinda cringe... We'll see where this goes.
Zankoku na Tenshi was a nice surprise. Best part of the episode imo. XD
It was alright, but I'm not continuing.
The characters are too "fluffy" for me and uninteresting. I started skimming around the 7 minute mark.
One thing I really liked though was that Masako Nozawa played herself. That was a nice touch.
and for those who does not know this was a manga created by the voice actress of Risa Asakaze of Hayate no Gotoku and Hata Kenjiro the mangaka of Hayate no Gotoku before Shirobako was out.
I'm not sure why it has such a low score from this first episode. It was fun, interesting and although it resembles Shirobako a lot, it focus on voice acting and I'm sure a lot of us are interested in that particular side of anime. Ichigo is such a cuttie and Futaba's senpai is just gorgeous.

'just get over yourself already' was all I could think halfway through about futaba, she really was annoying...I kinda agree with that collegue of her if you can't get one line right (let alone one single word before that) you shouldn't be doing the job....
The doll does explain a lot about how the seiyuu work goes though, yes (like the Shirobako bear & goth loli doll did), but I wish she wouldn't have spend pretty much half the episode greeting people...
Goku's seiyuu was a pleasant suprise though, I quite liked that :D I love that old lady voicing the strongest in the universe xD

The ED with evangelion zankoku na tenshi remix was awesome.
Definitely loved that Evangelion shout out. I wasn't going to watch this series but the first episode was much better than I thought. I like that the other seiyu aren't all nice or all mean but have different personalities.
This is riding a bit too much on Shirobako's success. I mean, a doll... just like in that anime. And it monologues... Wish it could be more original in that aspect.
Apart from this, I pretty much loved it. It got such a good, realistic atmosphere. I am in. I am definitely in. Ichigo is waifu-material btw, so cute.
The ED is very different, so many different genres. Love it. The OP is very nice, too.
*Extremely* annoying episode and characters. I knew she was going to yell her line and spill her spaghetti everywhere and I still felt disgusted when she did.
This show will be good, I found some similarities with Shirobako. For example at the episode 23 of Shirobako when Zuka came in the "studio" to introduce herself before the audition, the same thing happened here but in the other side.
I will love this show, nice first episode.
That guy is an ass but he got a point. But don't let it get to you and don't give up!
It doesn't matter if this anime is following Shirobako's footsteps, in fact I like there's another anime that's about the anime indusry in a less serious tone.
That was highly amusing. As a somewhat seiyuu otaku this was awesome. Loved the middle schooler nailing her lines perfectly. That Evangelion ending song.
Pretty decent and watchable. I like the fact it isn't about a bunch of girls going to school and their everyday life or something similar that's already seen a bazillion times before. Anime about lives of voice actors is, if nothing, refreshing and a nice change from many unoriginal slice of life premises.
The MC is also likable, as well as Ichigo and that little girl. This has some potential.
I respect your opinion as long as you respect mine.
It was a nice start although the excess of comedy the used regarding Futaba's nervousness felt a bit annoying for moments. But that aside, I really enjoyed it.
The extra information about how things in a recording studio works was also nice.
And the ED with them singing Evangelion's OP was unexpected but great nevertheless :D I hope they sing a different song each time an episode ends.
Too much moe for me. However, after seeing a few VA radio shows, I can see why it's so fluffy.
The ED song is actually about the three of them doing a VA radio show. Apparently, in these radio shows the VA's take requests to sing songs, and that's how the Evangelion theme ends up in the ED! :
"Let's read our letters!
'Hello to everyone in Earphones!
...
"Okay! We have a request! Oh, this one's a well-known song.
From Neon Genesis Evangelion, A Cruel Angel's Thesis!"
"OK, let's keep going!"

The episode did not convince me at all even though there was a considerable effort on the part of the narrative to make people laugh with funny moments and situations, but they were not entirely sufficient; maybe it's my fault that he wasn't in the mood, or it was the character designs I didn't like at all, but the element that convinced me to continue it was the ending, perhaps because during it the protagonists sang a piece of the opening by EVA, fantastic!
Just watched this today and I like that they included that Seiyuus have to actually choose clothes that do not make a lot of noise since the mic picks up on it.
Nice reality touch there. Actually, a lot of this episode is quite true int he industry. I wonder why the score is so low... They even made some of the characters look like their seiyuu...
As much I like Rie Takahashi's voice normally, the energetic nature of her character made this episode a real struggle for me to make my way through. I just about managed it, but this is as far as I'll be going with it as I can't bring myself to stomach 13 episodes of flustered Rie Takahashi obsessing over being respectful to everyone and panicking every 30 seconds.
Well well what a curious anime
Back in 2015 before takahashi rie and to a less extent kono marika became famous, we have this anime
In a sense its also pretty important, im surprised the anime isnt more famous
well thats a introduction
i have no idea how famous or otherwise the anime is
a curious op
so yeah. much
back in 2015. nowadays it feels like most seiyu, the industry is really crowded now so they're all like 25 or 30 now
like good luck naming any seiyu that are 20 or below 20
but yeah here we have uhh. one of our main girls, talking to herself. it is fascinating in a way
a good question. what happens if they are sick during the day of recording? sounds like a deezastah
im not like an expert on takahashi rie or anything but uh, i mean it definitely sounds like her, though its quite surprising since she's usually voicing like. its funny because here she's voicing a mascot character and it doesnt sound like her at all.
i wonder how many times they'll say seiyu and sore ga seiyu
i mean if the cast is huge isnt that a lot of introductions. though i guess thats part of work
so yeah. one of the gimmicks of this anime is that every episode or so has like a famous seiyu showing up.
i dont actually remember but
so yeah, lots of introduction...sort of. one sided introduction that is
like futaba is fairly normal ish, while the other two? hmm
for certain anime i guess there'll be 10-20 per episode. though if they're doing multiple episodes that could be increased by the number of characters. some anime have less though, some have more
its still the first ep, but one thing they'll have to do is figure out how they actually get the roles. since here we already start at ep 1
the question is are they professional enough to do the entire scene in one take, or are they gonna need more takes?
the anime does feel more like im watching a documentary than an anime though. hmm
director vs seiyu really. what is
so here what we see is basically they do like one run and then a second one later
i mean in the end the director has to decide which line is being used
ah yes. sometimes especially in the bigger projects/anime, the main/existing seiyu will have like minor lines here and there.
though sometimes they might not even credit it separately if the line is minor enough
sometimes they have completely separate seiyu though
serifu. im not super sure about the japanese but welp
does futaba have a thing where she overthinks all the time
so yeah. success. what is success. because we the audience only sees the finished result its not super obvious whats the difference in the amount of time and effort between newbie seiyu and more experienced
well here in this ep they did show that rin was more experienced, while futaba and ichigo both needed to redo their lines a few times
also is rin wearing her school uniform to work? uh. we'll see i guess
im not sure honestly. i think the youngest seiyu start at around 10 or so. morohoshi sumire started around 12 or 11 or 10 maybe? and kuno misaki possibly but i didnt hear of her for some time
hidaka rina and ogura yui both started around 14 or so. there's a few others as well but 15 is still really young when the others are like 20 or 25
wow futaba has to have the most strangest backstory. i think almost all seiyu has massive competition soo uhh
not that i know that much. like how do you even get started at age 15, while at age 20 there would be huge competition
there is also an anime called koe de oshigoto, but its like a 2 ep ova only
how does futaba forget ichigo's name? oh well. hopefully she starts to remember
i was under the impression that anime usually did anime in groups. but i guess they can record it any way they want as long as they finish on time
So yeah that was the ep
Ichigo is really cute.
Rin is not the usual but it sounds like kono marika so that means ichigo is nagaku yuki? quite fascinating actually
We didnt get much rin this ep, and as a whole the ep was kind of like jumping into the deep end of the pool. im assuming next ep will be fascinating
.....uhm. the ed. this is some next level of.
Is every ep going to have a different ep where they feature a different famous song?
Uhh
I mean they're cute i guess
While its only one ep its an anime for sure...
I'm curious though if each ep is gonna map exactly 1 to 1 for each episode. Though I presume they'll need to introduce something because they cant just keep repeating the same tropes every ep
The op/ed is kinda weird, its like...some curious
...shiodome is nabatame hitomi? Damn....people sure do show up all the time
