So Oda goes to Gide despite knowing that it'll kill him. He's given up on being a writer now after the kids were killed. And the fight between Gide and Oda was just too cool. They were fighting close range with guns. Normally at this range people would punch or kick or use daggers/knives at vest. But they're using nekoing guns at this range and even dodging those bullets. How cool is that?

Dazai comes to save Oda but he was a bit too late. I liked how he showed that badassery to the boss. And the boss was pulling the strings behind all that was happening for the sake of the business permit so that they can come a bit above ground. And Dazai leaves the Mafia because Oda said so. He won't find any reason to live no matter what he does so he might as well become a good guy.

This was pretty cool. We've learned stuff about Dazai so it's good. Now do they plan on linking this store to the current events in the show or is this completely unrelated to anything?

It is related , you will come to better understand some moments and dialogues in the guild/3 ways war arc that concern dazai and other characters despite the author throwing some hints .

Probably the best arc of the show. I really liked Oda's character. I'm sad for him =/
Now we know more about Dazai and how why he decided to leave Port Mafia (I really hate its leader). Background and music were great !

This was a really good arc. I liked Oda. Next week we see characters from S1 again.
"I lost all of what you could call feelings of love. They weren't sealed, so they can't be released. They weren't broken, so they can't be fixed. That which is lost, cannot be recovered." Shiba Tatsuya
"There are no regrets. If one can be proud of one's life, one should not wish for another chance." Saber

Oh my, this is legit the saddest ep for the series :( When Odasaku said good night to each children.... man, those Mimic and Port Mafia boss is seriously trash for involving the children :')

The fight between Odasaku and Mimic Boss is so badass, they're fighting with gun at a close range, that's seriously superb :o aaand so that's why Dazai end up where he is now, Odasaku sure is a great part of his life huh x'D

Looks like we''l be back to the present time next week, I kinda missed that doctor neechan haha

Didn't even realize the episode was out, Great episode nevertheless. Excellent soundtrack as well.

Gunfight between Gide and Odasaku was awesome.
So the Port Mafia leader was the one who set up everything, Just so he could get the permit.

R.I.P Odasaku, I really liked him. :(

Odasaku's final words are the reason that Dazai decided to leave Port Mafia, A job that saves people. Guess that relates to why Dazai saved Atsushi. :)
Nice to see Dazai back to his goofy personality at the end as well.

Overall, This arc was amazing. Loved Dazai's backstory and these last few episode have easily been my favorites episodes till date.
Looks like we're going back to present time now. :D

The one thing I never understood. Why didn't Gide just kill himself?
Suicide is a very valid option for him, no?

That said, I was right in guessing Oda's demise, though it was more artistic than I'd expected. Not too sure who those men in black were either. Which organization were they from and for what reason did they rush in on two people who already were on the verge of killing each other?

Anyway, looking forward to seeing the old crew again next week.

What was that? I feel like this episode is the best this season so far.
That black letter is what the Guild is seeking for?

The Rampo's debut in this arc was hilarious. And his gift is as cool as ever.

And Odasaku choosing to kill and give up on becoming an authour is a bit sad. I can understand why Dazai said to Akutagawa he can't beat him in 1000 years.

I liked everything in this flashback arc (Though I didn't understand the gift singuliarity thing).

The Boss dark side is also enjoyable, I wondered how is this pervert supposed to be a Mafia Boss if he stays all day caring of Lize-chan :p

Its so sad that the kids that Odasaki cared for all now all dead
Damm you mimic
The scene in the beginning though was touching

Lol a meeting between the government's spec ops abilities unit and
the port mafia. Now that must have been a tense meeting

Man the port mafia boss is still as nutty as ever
I can't begin to understand the grief that Odasaku is going through right now

This feels like a goodbye for Odasaku though sadly
That scene and the music for it though was well done

Hmm a nice move to put Rampo into this episode

Animation and combat scenes were just as strong
Hmm so the members of Mimic only wanted to die in battle eh

Its nice to see that Dazai actually cares about his friend and
that the boss is so readily agreeable lol

Hmm so this fight against Mimic was orchestrated by the boss all along
then

The fight scene between Odasaku and Gide though was really good
i love how they inserted the opening song in with that fight
especially that scene where they both reloaded their weapons at the same time
and when they both shot at the opposing soldiers when they rushed in
and that slow mo scene as well lol

So Odasaku's dying words is what prompted Dazai to leave the port Mafia
and save people instead of killing them eh
Sad that he had to die though
he was such a great character

Overall this was a great episode that put an end to this mini arc though its too bad that it ended with Odasaku's death. That guy really grew on me these past episodes.

But next episode will be back with the detective agency then
so im looking forward to seeing that

I believe episode 4 was by far the best episode we have seen so far in S2, although it ended in a really sad note. We all saw that coming but I DIDN'T EXPECT Mori to let Gide's side to know about the orphans. That moment was so sad when the van exploded.

Odasaku and Gide's shooting scene were so cool T_T and the way the bgm comes up fits the scenes very well!

At last, our questions have been answered e.g : why did Dazai leave Port Mafia? BECAUSE HIS FRIEND TOLD HIM THAT IF YOU CAN CHOOSE TO KILL OR TO SAVE.. CHOOSE TO SAVE!!

I really liked that Odasaku gave up on killing and wanted to become a writer but it all ended tragically. T_T This anime really knows how to get to our feels.

Alright, next episode we'll have our awesome team back again! Can't wait!! But nevertheless I enjoyed this arc and i believe everyone did too! YAY *_*

This episode was very powerful, the whole arc in general. The symbolism was strong. I decided to actually read the novel, someone told me that they cut out some really nice stuff (not that i blame them, they still need to focus on guild arc). Amazing character development for Dazai. Man the feels.

Odasaku......... ( ɵ̥̥ ˑ̫ ɵ̥̥)

Anyway, thoughts on this first arc.

Art & Animation: amazing as usual, even tho they didn't show very much in terms of "special effects", the character design is still top notch and the whole thing works super good.
Sound & Music: Loved the music, especially in this 4th episode, and the voice acting is, again, perfect.
Story: What a sad beginning to the season.. But hey, at least we know who's Dazai. Like, who he REALLY is. The other characters were super interesting too, even tho I didn't really like Gide's motives, they felt a lil bit over the top, but given the various plot twists, the story up until now felt really good. Wonder what's gonna happen to Ango.
Overall: Super enjoyed it. Definitely recommended. And again, Odasaku ( ɵ̥̥ ˑ̫ ɵ̥̥)

This was an amazing arc. Season 1 had terrible lows but managed to limp out on a merely OK note. Season 2 though...4 top notch episodes in a row. Utterly beautifully produced, animated and performed aka the complete opposite of season 1.

Dazai's character makes a lot more sense in context now. Always thought the suicide thing was a poor taste joke (which season 1's writing made even worse) but it fits the overall story now that it's been filled in.

Dreading how the return to the present will be. Never felt such apprehension going into the next episode of a phenomenal season as I have season 2.

This arc was great and I wouldn't have mind if the entire season was going to run like that. The dark, gritty atmosphere of the mafia world was well portrayed and Dazai's backstory was well explained. I actually got really sad towards the ending. It seems that Dazai is a really nice person despite his mafia history. I'm going to miss this prequel arc.

How can this be so much better than the first season by now? A surprise hit, indeed. But I won't get my expectations high for the next episodes. They will probably be filled with useless humour again. I really enjoyed the absence of it and the serious feels in the first four eps of season two.

RIP Oda, you were appreciated. For four episodes I'd say they did a fair job of establishing things. Pity that Oda and Ango weren't around longer.
Boss Mori is hot as hell, despite being a wretch of a person honestly. I really wanna see more of him in the main arc now.

That arc was quite shifted from the norm, far less comedic and far more dark. I wonder how the next arc will fair in comparison with this over. Now as someone who actually liked the first season and its oddball humor, I admit I wouldn't mind glints of the first season, but a little darkness in between wouldn't hurt.
