I'm glad its not as messed up as some of the old shorts

Well it helps that this isn't war propaganda.

It's kinda funny, but the voice acting makes it sound more messed up than usual lol.

Pretty much comedy/fiction but with some real historical people like Oda or Hideyoshi. They are portrayed as animals Lol

As a huge jidaigeki fan i liked this and gonna continue watching. Sure they could have used right kind of kabuto and right surname(at the time) on Hideyoshi,but then again that kabuto and "Toyotomi" surname prolly is more commonly known.
I wonder if Ishida Mitsunari is going to be fox,if he is on the show.

Since I have a severe lack of knowledge of Japanese history (other than the Really Big Parts which involve 20th century wars), I am just watching this series at face value. I enjoyed this episode for what it presented me as humor and I really found the art style interesting. The nice thing about watching historical anime, is that it forces me to look things up and every now and then......I get smarter. LOL

Was this based on some old tale/joke used to present traits of those people or is it entirely original?

And does anyone know how the animals were chosen to represent those historical figures?

edit:
@Onbuu Thank you very much.

Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu are widely known for their nicknames: Saru(Monkey) for Hideyoshi and Tanuki(Racoon dog) for Ieyasu. Sadly i dont know why Oda Nobunaga and Mori Ranmaru were birds.

Well they said Nobunaga is a cuckoo, so I'm guessing because of the famous poem.

Ranmaru may be a bird because of the crest of his family-- And to match Nobunaga's character somehow.

...Nobunaga as a cuckoo was Pure Genius x'D

The not so serious voice acting, make this hilarious. The voice acting kinda remind me of the Mole and the Antlion monsters from Sunred

I felt like I didn't know what I was watching... lol. That's not really a bad thing but just kind of... odd. I liked the wood block ink style of the art and I've always thought Nobunaga was a little nuts so him as a cuckoo was hilarious. I think my favorite part was him saying they needed to play rock paper scissors and them passively freaking out about why he wanted to do that with a rifle in his hand (or talon... claw?).
I'd keep watching it just because I enjoy historical anime and taiga dramas and even though it's not straight up fact, it still helps to cement these names into my head beyond favs such as Fuurin Kazan (taiga drama) and Sengoku Basara (anime/live action/game).
