Heh, just when I thought an episode could of been normal, shit goes down again with the youkai and stuff.

I kinda like the background storytelling though considering the focus about the past of Ushio's family side. The suffering continues D:

I knew from how she was speaking to Ushio that she was gonna die.

I guess Ushio won't be going to visit his mom in the deep sea.
As expected the last successor revealed has much more plot relevance than the others, so he's the son of the youkai woman that fights Ushio in the op and that appears in the beginning of this episode. I'm guessing she will be the midway boss for these last episodes and Hakumen no mono will have the last cour.
Kirio sure is proud of cutting a giant floating statue, when he was just staring at Hakumen no mono's avatar
I find it kinda ironic that the 4 successors probably know a lot about the spear but the chosen one doesn't know how to bring the full extent of it's power.

Ushio's been facing the pain of losing people he's getting to know quite a lot recently. Good character development for him will hopefully be at the end of the line.

The human form of Hakumen no mono was friggin epic creepy at the start. And she's Kirio's mother figure? O_o That's Hakumen no Mono right? Or is it something completely different?

He's one annoying brat tho. He needs to get some nice beating into him.

That's what it sounded like to me to. The secrecy was well worth it.

I was a bit irritated halfway through this episode because they're few things that irritate me as much as the overpowered smug kid cliché. It really irks me. But with the twist at the end, I'm much more forgiving. The kid is basically Hakumen no Mono's Trojan Horse and his ridiculous strength emanates from her.

I disliked Kirio until I see that he was the "son" of that creepy woman (Hakumen no Mono?). I was funny how he think that he is strong for only cutting a sotne's monster, lol.

Too bad that the old lady died, I was expecting more of her.

Yeah, I was shocked at how much was completely skipped over. Granted it's not much for plot device stuff, but so much was completely ignored. I was really hoping to see one particular chapter animated (namely the beast spear attacking Tora whenever he tried to eat Ushio).

Ushio has been losing a lot of people that he's been getting close to lately.

I had a bad feeling about Kirio as soon as he was introduced and it looks like I was right.

"Okaa-san... Okaa-san..." And Hakumen no mono will creepy smile to him et eat him.
"You was finally so useless my child..."

Yeah, I hate him too. He is ridiculous when he kills the stone avatar xD

Unless Kirio is brainwashed...that tends to happen a lot in this anime.

Also there's only 5 episodes left I believe...that is not enough time IMO to wrap every thing up.

Unfortunately, the episode's big emotional moment felt a little flat to me. Everything was just so rushed. It's easy to understand why Ushio would have a break down(even if he barely knows the old woman) because that's just the type of good guy he is. But WE barely know her. Hard to sympathize and feel anything for her because of that.

Besides that, the stuff with the creepy woman seems interesting enough.

So they skipped the arc where Ushio removes the cloth on the beast spear for the first time... they skipped all of Kyoura... they skipped showing that the beast spear protects Ushio on instinct... and they skipped all of the stuff about the girls and two story arcs about Asako and Mayuko. I'm honestly going from lowkey to highkey bothered about this.

Please tell me Kirio eats shit. I'm going to assume Hakumen no longer has any use for him at some point and goes "you done fucked up bye" and kills him. It's been a while since I've wanted to punch a character in the face, but holy hell.

Best part of the episode was Tora happily eating a hamburger tbh.

I thought they showed that, though? It's heavily implied throughout the show anyway.

and they skipped all of the stuff about the girls and two story arcs about Asako and Mayuko.

Are they really all that relevant though? The anime seems to be focused on Ushio, so I guess they just cut out stuff about most of the other characters. They could always throw it in later on if it's anything important.

This.

I'm going to pick up the manga as soon as this season ends because some parts definitely feel rushed, though it's still fantastic. This episode was weaker because of what's in the quote, but yeah.

No, there's a specific story in the manga that covers it, that's what I'm talking about.

Asako's the female lead so yeah, I'd say she's pretty important to the story. They skipped the after party for all the girls that they planned (it's comic relief but gives them some more personality) and they skipped a story where Asako and Mayuko work together to defeat a youkai (which was sweet and gave them more character and a stronger relationship with each other) and another where Ushio saves Asako from a youkai just before the story this episode covered that was really important to Ushio and Asako's relationship. That story was pretty interesting too because it showed how youkai are changing their ways and developing to adapt to modern society.

So that mother of the creepy kid is the woman in the start of the episode. And if am not wrong that woman looked very much like Hakumen No Mono. If we assume that the fox is still deep down in the see then the woman is another avatar or has Hakumen managed to escape without destroying Japan?

King assumptions, that's what I'm going to call you from now on.

You judge everything to come based on one episode and seem incapable of something called foresight, or can even grasp proper storytelling.

That aside, I liked this episode. This is probably yet another Hakumen avatar that stole part of the sash and manipulated Kirio. This was obviously a flashback too, as she had just given Kirio his hat that he was already wearing.
Hell, since it was all in the past, it might've been the same avatar. I'm betting that, actually.

I liked that the old woman was revealed as Hizaki Mikado. You people didn't care about her? Hello, she's the one from episode 4 who sealed the Gamin originally. I knew her from her name and I was shocked to see that it was her. I do with the anime included one line about how Jie Mei only reincarnated one time as Yuki and then had children before the final battle and chose her successors among them. At first I thought she reincarnated every time, but I was mistaken.

It's all still there, but you gotta pay close attention. The subs don't help.

I like having, essentially, a double agent as Kirio in the series. Adds a level of unease and unpredictability. He's clearly not fond of the Beast Spear, has some interesting toys of his own that seem fairly modernized and is secretly carrying out Hakumen's agenda from the inside, unintentionally, no doubt, as his "mama".

I gotta agree with the other guy. The Spear protecting Ushio is already heavily implied and shown many times throughout; we don't need a full chapter on it. The whole Tora eating Ushio thing is old now. Tora could've eaten him 9000 times in just the last 3 episodes, so it's clear he's over it. We don't need to bring that back again. We all knew he was bluffing about it by episode 5.

And, while I agree some bits about Ayako could be important, they can probably be included in minor pieces later on and aren't worth a full story. They did that quite well in episode 10 with the angry priest guy.

I did want to see more about the spear's sash though, yeah, but, again, probably in due time.

Life can be cruel and unfair. At worst it can traumatize and cripple you. The desire for wanting things to return to the way they were can cost everything and changes nothing. The best way is to keep moving forward, struggle on.
Anger can be powerful but can only get you so far. Let people into your life even if some of them leave you in time.
