THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

Damn, Io and Claudia's relationship really has hit a rocky way now.

Not bad, I definitely enjoyed the classic action in space for the second half. Really liked the epic clash at the end but shame it's a cliffhanger. I guess the final episode will decide it, can't wait for that.

Yeah...I hate being the person that asks about where it is or if it's subbed but I literally don't see it anywhere yet.

"Crunchyroll US:
its official website announced that the third episode will be available at noon on March 18 (JST).
Same as the previous episodes, members of the Gundam Fan Club will be able to watch the episode two weeks earlier, from March 4, via the club's smartphone app. The sell price for the 18-minute third episode with a 18-minute bonus content "Documentary of Thunderbolt #3" is 800 yen and that for rental (episode only) is 400 yen."

Can honestly say that I seriously don't even think any of these people who reviewed it even watched it. You'd think with the whole US gundam fandom wondering how the fuck to get it, those reviewers would actually tell them how.

The year is 20XX. Gundam Thunderbolt episode 3 was never shown outside of Japan. Gundam fans starve on the streets, begging for someone to show them where to watch episode 3 of Gundam Thunderbolt, to no avail. All hope has been lost. Tomino, disgusted by these turns of events, set out to space in his personal RX-78-2, in search of Thunderbolt Episode 3. He never returned.
Most people have given up on waiting for Episode 3, and have moved on from Gundam, becoming hardcore Ginguiser fans. However, some people, such as me, still believe, that, one day, Tomino will return, and show us to the promised land, where we can finally watch Thunderbolt Ep. 3.

Raw is finally out.

Animation seems a step down from the previous 2 episodes, hopefully they are just saving it for a mindblowing episode 4.

I found this episode to be far more by the books than the two previous ones. It felt as if they were really trying to make us feel a lot of emotion, but it was paced too fast and far too predictable.

This is too bad, because I loved the last episode, it stuck with me, and it was legitimately powerful, but this episode just seemed to try and mock those feels.

Hopefully the next will be a superior and satisfying conclusion, but by this episode, this potential gem has fallen a bit flat.

Well that was grim. The scene of all the kids taking pictures just rubbed salt into the wound. How the hell are they going to wrap everything in up with only one more episode?

Being burdened to send soldiers and children to their death then being shot by your own vice captain that's just sad. BTW what's the deal with the thunderbolt sector, Why are they trying to get it back? Is it a good strategic point or is there something valuable there?

The fact that they're using cripples and children is to show just how desperate they were to win this engagement and how vital the area is to the overall war. Reading the manga will give more background, but pretty in summary yeah the area is really important. This video kinda explains it.

Anyway loved the episode, that fucking final clash was so intense. Characters just dying like nobodies business. Gundam hasn't been this good since 08th MS team, the early eps of Unicorn were alright though.

Wasn't it mentionned in the beginning? That they are trying to secure an alley to for the main forces (seen in 0079).

Shouldn't the beam/laser of the saber simply cut through the metal of the heat axe?

Still pretty but it feels every time emptier. (4 ONAs with 60% mecha action scenes in it, I find it a bit light)

Really loved the battles and music great as always, my one and only complaint still will be these are just far too short and feel kinda rushed because of that, still enjoy it but could have been so much more like @Rei366 mentioned.

That was pretty good, but it makes no sense that the Federation is using child soldiers. The Federation's whole deal during the OYW was "we have reserves". They had a shit ton of disposable adult soldiers, so why use children, who tend to be more emotional and less reliable? It makes sense if what i've heard about it taking place in an alternate UC where the OYW ends up lasting longer (as such, both sides get super desperate) is true, but no such thing has been said in the show, has it? Did i just miss that?

Aside from that, i found the episode really great. This might just end up on my favorites list.

While it never made sense, it has happened before (in WitP, for example), so this isn't something the ONA started.

God damn shit hit the fan HARD this episode. So both flagships get taken out by their aces respectively, and both ladies of the show potentially going MIA/KIA there.

Anyone got a link to direct me to the 4th episode?

Heh, the implications of the dreadful One Year War... Children pitted against cripples. This is the anti-war sentiment we know and love in regards to the Gundam franchise.

I rather enjoyed the brief glimpses in to the background of the Federation trio, presenting an unseen perspective of Io. In regards to the horrors of warfare, Claudia's fate was an unexpected shame. So much for her mental fortitude...

As indicated by the slight drop in animation quality (still, the overall impression was excellent), we are in for one heck of a finale.

Kids in war it is not a new concept WWII and many more (past & present) have kids participating in wars that is a sad but is part of our human history… This episode was brutal both sides taking heavy casualties and both main fleet getting rekt by the enemy. Cant wait to see who wins the fight (win in the sense of emerging victorious but is pretty clear that both MC have lost more than enough {family, friends, lovers, themselves, etc.})

I really wished this was a 10 - 12 episode series to get more depth for the side characters (not that this ONA didn’t get any {for a 4 episode I think it did a great job letting us the viewers get into the personality of characters}) but I always want more…

I never really comment on something because I think is wasted time doing so, but, in this show, I can't hold my feels. Fuck this show is amazing, the animation quality did drop a little bit, but nevertheless gets high marks above all other shows currently on air.
Characters dying like it's going out of fashion, the feels every MC gives, I just can't describe this shit.
Fuck it, when the fourth episode gets subbed, I'll watch all the episodes again, just to witness the horrors of war.
One thing for sure, and I believe almost every fan out there will agree with me: Gundam has never been so good (or awesome).

I'm not quite certain of this myself (especially since I don't read the manga), but it seems he never truly liked her and was eager to point out her shortcomings as a Captain whenever she was too emotional to act as their leader. I assume he is fed up with her upbringing? Correct me if I'm wrong, anyone!

He gets to the heart of the battle, and he sees the cruelty, not so much in practice, as in the words of the characters, the narrative is clear even the internal dynamics of the two sides, but now he understands the true entity of when it happens in the ranks of the Federation, watching what happens in the final to the character of Claudia, that coward, that Graham. Drawings and animations, very good, ditto for the OST.
