The anime has enough to potential to be its own thing without its source material, imo. There a lot of interesting facts and aspects of the industry that have to be discovered in this show. They could also add more notable cameos than just one per episodes (maybe two or three). The anime showed mostly long-time veterans, but the second season could add new meat or well-known newcomers or young veteran. There a lot of potential cameos that can explore more of the world of seiyuus:

Seiyuus who are successful in the music industry, but don't appear that much in anime anymore (Nana Mizuki, Maaya Sakamoto)

Celebrities that work as seiyuus, but are not full-fleshed seiyuus (Shoko Nakagawa)

Seiyuus with eccentric personalities (Tomokazu Sugita, Mamoru Miyano, Yuu Kobayashi)

Seiyuus that may provide art (Marina Inoue)

Young veterans (Aoi Yuuki, Minako Kotobuki, Saori Hayami)

"Untouchable" seiyuus (Akira Ishida)

Seiyuus who founded their own agency (Daisuke Namikawa)

Seiyuus as freelancers (Daisuke Ono)

Frequent players (Kana Hanazawa, Miyuki Sawashiro, Yuuki Kaji, Yoshimasa Hosoya)

Newcomers with increasing success (Natsuki Hanae, Inori Minase, Rie Takahashi herself)

Veterans that prefer to stay in the background (Kaori Shimizu)

Veterans that aren't that successful

Seiyuus that mostly appear in hentai or in eroge (note: there are famous seiyuus who have played in hentai)

Seiyuus with scandals (Aya Hirano)

Other classic veterans (too many examples)

Seiyuus that mostly play video game characters rather than anime

Touching the tragic death series in 2014-2015 (not necessary, but it does show the tragic aspect of the industry, but as a positive side, the roles and achievements of the late seiyuus will always be remembered)

There are many shows where the majority of the cast, especially the main cast, are newcomers. But there also shows where mostly veterans are hired for major or named characters (e.g. Dragon Ball Super or One Piece). These aspects are also interesting to explore.
