This season is becoming the best one from Durarara so far.
I love Chikage, seriously, from his design to his way of talk and fight style, he is really cool. Dat fight with Kida was insane. And then Ran joins to the battle, this looks really good.
I'm also loving Kujirage for every episode she is starring. Her cold personality + her quriks about cute hings and cosplaying made her adorable. And Anri decides to not give her Saika for the moment...
Nasujima now owns a the power of Saika? I wonder what he is planning with Haruna. Mr. Niekawa can't catch a break, poor guy :(
And Shizuo returns again. Wonder why Vorona is planning...
dizzyur said: Chikage somehow survived that long a fall, oh, anime logic at its finest.
When you consider the fact that he was able to take several punches from Shizuo, it actually makes a lot of sense.
Honestly, the fact that he can withstand that much damage has me thinking he may be some kind of superhuman, in the vein of Shizuo. Maybe not when it comes to output, but certainly when it comes to receiving damage. For a skinny guy especially.
Really enjoyed the fight and the Saika stuff, but I'm confused as fuck and struggling to keep up with everything that's happening atm.
Nothing new there really. I've never been able to understand everything in this show.
Celty's story is the only one I fully understand.
Niekawa Haruna has become one of my favorite characters of this series. As a person, I feel it's been a mistake to define her by her instability, rather than by her sheer force of will. She's overcome Saika's control twice (if not her own's influence, she's at least overpowered the dominance of her "Mothers"), and she has shown herself willing to threaten and fight Izaya, Anri, and Kujiragi, despite full knowledge that the latter two are far more capable than she. She also challenged Kujiragi at most half an hour after an overwhelming loss, and mere minutes after both she and Anri and their Saikas were overcome with outright terror at her inhumanity. Haruna is without question unstable, and her singleminded obsession with Nasujima is certainly a strike against her, but usually, strength of will is framed as a heroic characteristic. It's refreshing to see a secondary antagonist with such tenacity.
The end-of-episode twists were all great, as well. As repulsive as Nasujima is, I'm now genuinely invested in his story; I want to know what has happened/is going on with Vorona; I'm excited to see Shizuo back in the action; and I was not prepared for Kujiragi to waltz right into Celty and Shinra's apartment. (I guessed at once they were mistaken about Anri, but I figured the "girl with glasses" would be Mamiya Manami, Izaya's ex-would-be-murderer/henchwoman who stole and ditched Celty's head, since she proved herself so unexpectedly pertinent.)
The thing about watching Durarara is that I get so engrossed in it, I don't even realize an episode is over until the ending starts rolling.
I seriously thought Takashi grew a beard to fit in with his whole creepy character, although it turned out to be fake. meh
I'm probably as excited as most are with the upcoming Shizuo vs. Izaya strife. That Chikage fall though. He's not "normal" in a non Durarara sense of normal. Hmm...

It isn't even the same color as his hair if you look close, from what I could see in the episode where he showed up in disguise to talk with Shijima at least. It's a smidge darker, closer to black, but Nasujima's hair is actually chocolately brown.
The other scenes it's not as apparent that the beard's fake because of the low lighting.
I honestly don't think he could grow one. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

The one thing I can give to Haruna, is that she is brave and very determined in her goal of obtaining Nasujima due to as you said, she was overwhelmed in a fight with Kujiragi and then outright terrified of her 'true' inhuman self, yet a few minutes later after this, she tries to fight against Kujiragi again.
Am I the only one who at least somewhat dislikes Haruna? She's an annoyance.
Well, given my preferences, I know nobody would suspect any less of me, not to like her. To an extent I'd say she's "interesting", but I also think to an extent Izaya qualifies as "interesting" as well, despite the fact that I honestly find them to both be rather insufferable at times (they basically occupy two of my "least favorite character" spots in the overall series).
Not going to lie that I feel a great sense of pity for the girl and what she's likely gone through, but I find it difficult to form any sort of fondness for her. So. Damn. Annoying.
Of course, why should I be talking, as the person who loves the King of Lacking Morals (lacking morals, more like, no morals whatsoever)? I don't know.
I just want her and Izaya to meet a painfully satisfying end.
Unfortunately volume 13 disproved any of my hypothesis or hopes regarding those two, and I wanted to smash my HDD by the end of it because some of the fates dissatisfied me greatly. Whatever. Fuck Narita for not giving Nasujima any development, because pandering. Of all the loose ends that son of a bitch could've tied or done something with, he continuously chose that ugly little flea. Aside from that a lot of the minor characters in a 13 volume span didn't really receive enough development either, but you know, he appeared to have had his choices, and I can't change that.
Which is why I've basically dropped SH (among other reasons), I'm thoroughly uninterested in seeing there be no development or even any further story given to some characters who could have had an interesting one, and watching new characters in the same dynamic as the Raira Trio just romp around doing blah blah blah like its the fucking first season again, except it's lacking fundamentally what kept me latched to the series. The point is, I am sour about the last novel, partially because of that I feel wronged going into SH knowingly about to subject myself to another ride that'll probably last another thirteen volumes with no significant advancement for who I really care about.
I liked the series best when it was at its darkest and dankest. To say I would've been elated to see Nasujima end up replacing Izaya as some awful new villain would not only have excited me, but probably would've sent me into convulsions of happiness. I just want to see some fucking development, Narita, not to be choked by my own hopes that were so often dashed.
I know this sounds all like I'm some peckish little child who has had something taken from her, and frankly, I'm not going to deny that I sound whiny, but is it wrong to be ultimately unsatisfied with an outcome and fraught with disappointment after you waited for someone to return for so long, only to have it almost instantaneously end as quickly as it began?
It's painful for me being seemingly the only one who cares about a pathetic loser in the first place, but secondarily it's also hurtful to feel the author's negligence slap me in the face after I've done a lot on my own to advance said character's development in my own free time. Like even the fucking creator cares less than I do. How novel. I have a dedication to someone empty and shallowly cast that even the author disposed of. It's revolting. And the thing is, even if I try my hardest it is not going to change my preference, because if I did, it would end up causing me worse strain than clinging to that care for someone so unimportant. He's not unimportant to me, meanwhile the rest of the world gawks, and shoots me with constant inquiry; where, what, why, how, who, when, and what is wrong with you? I'm real tired of fighting myself and others and constantly having to answer the same damn queries.
If fans of Izaya shouldn't have to fight a battle, why should I? If fans of serial killers and murderers shouldn't have to fight one either, why should I? Why should I have to keep answering to the man, and ridiculously heightened standards of morale off the basis that my character preference somehow translates instantly to what brand of person I am in real life? Have people dismissed the fact that fiction doesn't equate to reality and some of us like to wallow in morally ambiguous, if not outright nasty, content sometimes to try and account for the dullness of our actual lives, all whilst acknowledging that said content is wrong in a real setting? I just don't get it. Ever since… I don't know. Two years ago, I always brave myself for an attack every time I admit I do like Nasujima, but I'm not going to hide behind a curtain of falsehood anymore about it.
aaaaand THAT ladies and gentlemen is why you do NOT punch someone in the forehead...
A fourth saika??? this is getting ridiculous. I wonder how he got it.
Anyone remember How the girl in pink got saika?
I wounld like to see some more paranormal creatures get introduced (as long as they aren't vampires... I'm so freakin sick of vampires). I also hope we get to learn more about what kind of monster the villain lady and her pop star niece are.
so far, it was the best episode of drrr ketsu
they developed characters that are more interesting, at least to me.
It was pretty nice the fight between masaomi and the other dude
shizuo is finally free and obviously we'll see him destroying things hahahah
i also liked the end of the episode, when kasane got into shinra's place. This will be very interesting
I'm really at lost to this fucking Saika thing. How the fuck did that stupid teacher managed to control Niekawa's father? What he's got Saika in him too?
In this anime, they'd show a confusing question, for example, in episode 1 and then the answer to that in episode 7. Then there's an answer in episode 2 so you'll be confused because you don't know what to do with that piece of information and then you'd be enlightened in episode 9 regarding that thing. And what's more every episode is in the point of view of different characters that narrates the whole thing. And you know what? There's a lot of fucking characters in this show! And it's hard to keep track of them. Most of the time I don't even know who's point of view the episode is because they don't even appear in the episode, they just narrate it! Like hey this character haven't appeared in the past couple of episodes, let's make him narrate the next! That's fucking unnecessary.
Basically, the magic this show had with the tangled storyline and different povs has long lost its shine for me since season 1. It was fun and interesting at first but now I'm just pissed because I'm confused all the time.
Not sure why people are hyping it up in the comments calling it the best season when it's only been 4 episodes and the only really good one so far has been this one lol. I actually find this season's start rather weak compared to the previous two seasons. Granted, I could care less about Saika so that's probably why.
As for the episode, seems like the pedo teacher is back. Almost forgot who he was for a sec xD
Seems all these guys have super streght. I also like how a super serious convo was turned around with cosplay. well rapey teacher has come back though who is controlling her pops?
Ok, this was the weirdest big boobed reunion ever jaja. Seriousness aside of course. No, it was still weird. All those things about Saika and what Kasane really is.
Lol, Erika... Kasane even gave her a card too xD
Masaomi shouting "IZUMIIII" sounded really like Shizuo shouting "IZAYAAAA"
Wow, Haruna got herself in a predicament... I still feel sorry for her father.
BTW, how did Chikage survive that fall? Oh Durarara!!...
Masaomi gotta run on top of a car and swing on a pole just to kick Chikage.
lol at Chikage jumping off the building.
Pretty good fight.
DAT SAIKA CHAT!
Anri oppai on point.
So Kasane is a villain. Then she's a villain I'll fall in love with.
Loved how Anri separated Haruna and Kasane by touching their oppai.
Dat Erika cosplay. Would love to see Gothic lolita Kasane.
Shizuo figured out it was Varona. Hope he punches her lights out.
Izumii has arrived.
The bastard was Takashi. Sorry, Takashi That body is mine.
The fated meeting. Kasane and the Headless Rider.

If you see that my post is exactly 1 month old (or more) from when it was posted... Don't waste your time, especially when you want to reply with something petty & insignificant. Assume that I've moved on (because I have).
The stab in the butt as she tried to save Seiji :D
Varona now has Celty's head, wonder if Celty does eventually get her head attached back to her body and if she keeps the memories she's accumulated with only her body, considering she's scared she'll lose them.
So Anri has decided to keep her saika powers and not sell them to Kasane for now, keeping her number on hand could be useful in the future I guess.
The brawl between Masaomi and Rokujou doesn't seem to have really gone anywhere, now that Ran has arrived.
So now Takashi has captured Haruna he's going to be able to use her powers?
Kasane going to meet Celty and Shinra...wonder how this will go.
