Could her sister be her? Or rather could the dead one be her sister? Cause I really don't think someone as scheming as Magata (as we were shown in the end in ferris wheel) would die so easily

I thought as this as well, the way they keep emphasizing that the sisters look very alike makes me wonder, too. I am sure the little sister will end up being very relevant to the plot, whatever her role might be. Or she could be a red herring.

Magata's past is like a nod to Utena. The car scene was already hinting in that direction but the Ferris Wheel pretty much sealed it for me.

Also, I think that Nishinosono has been portrayed rather negatively (or at least as an egotistical rich girl) to give her depth and contrast when she ultimately becomes a character that the audience sympathizes with. If she were easy to like from the beginning, she would be pretty one-dimensional.

Regarding the child theory: Be honest -- can you see that 13-year-old deliver her own baby... then care for it (alone) without any access to things like medical care and baby food/clothes?

You're right. There could be, though it seems pretty clear that no one went in or out of those doors in 15 years (P1 excepted). I don't suspect it would anyone other than the director (who now, convenient, can't shed light on anything). It seems that if any of the other staff who were present knew anything about a child, they certainly weren't talking about it, but it's also possible that person is the culprit as well.

Also, I didn't see anyone else mention it, but it looked like, in episode 2, the door to her room was a double door (like an airlock) where the outer door opens, you go in, the outer door shuts, and then the inner door opens. Though I don't know what significance this will have, I feel like it's too important to overlook.

omg omg omg what the fuck she actually ended up fucking her uncle. The car scene may have been circumstantial...but that Ferris wheel scene went way past the implication stage. Holy shit.

There are a lot of theories going around the internet right now:

1. Moe is the killer because she's possibly a split personality or something and has been shown to be just as mentally weird as Magata. (highly possible)

2. Magata had a child and the child killed her in the room. (highly possible)

3. Magata is actually her own child. She fucked her uncle on the ride when she was 13. She killed her parents when she was 14. Child would have been born by then. Perhaps the child was sent there and locked up; explaining why she looked so young. Meanwhile the real Magata is loose.
- On top of that, also heard the possibility that Magata's sister is actually Magata. She would be 29, so she would look her sister's age. This then raised the theory of whether her sister was actually locked up and killed, or Magata's daughter. (somewhat likely that either ends of this theory are true).

4. Magata is actually Red Magic. Being the genius she is, she could have found a way to upload her conscience into the program like a sci-fi movie. This explains why the system went down, and how the P1 bot could get in; if she had access to all of the systems, she could control camera feed, robots movements, things that could be shipped to her, etc. She might've murdered herself as the ultimate murder (not likely).

Because she was never actually charged with muder...and she's a genius who's making scientific contributions. By keeping her isolated from people and keeping her in a high tech lab, people get the best of both worlds.

had a feeling the director was dead when i saw his first expression... feels a little odd at the end considering she was only 13, but its actually understandable what happened there.. her mind was probably of someone 3 times her age.

Cant wait to see what happens next... the pacing is slow, but deliberately so, and for a mystery novel, its usually the case. What im glad is that all scenes have a purpose to them.

Though for some reason I'm inclined to believe that all this might have been planned by Magata herself and Magata's sister might actually be her xD.

She was pregnant when she went into isolation.

The wedding dress hid the kid, who slipped out when the P1 reached the corner.

I have thought it this and it still does not seem very logical, why would this kid kill her mother is such brutal fashion. Also its not like she had to hide the kid in the first place. It would raise a ton of questions if this turned out to be true. Still a legit possibility though.

Excellent episode. The plot thickens and the mystery develops. I appreciate the fact that the whole series isn’t over-dramatic. I still love the fact that this is a continuous mystery, and not episodic. Again, the pace is good for this type of series. Faster pace would just ruin the atmosphere.

Anyway, once again, great way to end it. The bad: waiting for the next episode. Waiting until the whole series is done will be the best way to watch this, but I doubt I will do that since I pretty hook with what’s going on right now.

The problem with the child theory is that in the flashbacks she has 13, while she killed her parents with 14.
The kid would've born at this time.

I go with the theory that Magata and her sister switched sides and the dead is actual Miki.
Just before Nishinosono being call Magata was going to say something like "I've never had somehitng like this" (referring to Nishinosono's family) so being the sister who never got any attention and being forced by her sister to accept the prison sound legit to me.

Since this is the 3rd episode and usually people drop stuff after three episodes, it might be a good time to say this.

If you are interested in the mystery but one or more of the following applies to you:
- You find Moe unlikeable due to her being annoying
- You find Saikawa unlikeable due to too much pretentious dialogue and chain smoking in-your-face
- You find the depictions of paedophilia disturbing
- You find the pacing boring

PLEASE TRY THE DRAMA. This case is in Episode 5 and 6 if you're only interested in that.

IMO the mystery is cool so even if you're giving up the anime you can still watch it in another form.

For the rest who are loving this show, ignore this.

So our mysterious murderer has killed a pedophile and a woman that killed her own parents. Well if that really was Shiki and not

I think our murderer is actually a vigilante guys. Until we get to know more about Shiki's past of course. Or the murederer kills someone that hasn't done something illegal or morally questionable.

Hello Shiki, do you need a hand? Shiki it looks like you got cut a little short. Shiki don't look at me with those dead eyes.

Shiki I always thought you were a little cold, but this is ridicolous.

Something tells me the wedding will be cancelled.

The ferris wheel is a pretty wild ride.

Don't worry Shiki it's just a flesh wound.

No one wants to see that obviously.

For Saikawa it could be medicine for his eyes, I'm not sure about Moe though.

Moe is annoying.

So everyone, except you and few others would actually drop the show, if they listened to your advice, good that they don't though.

Also why should people drop something just because they find something disturbing? Such a thing also has value in the experience you have of the show, it can actually enrich your experience if done correctly.

Heck if people didn't wanted to get disturbed, I don't think horror would exist. Personally I think the pedophilia is used incorrectly and makes the whole thing overdone.

Pedophilia is disturbing, no matter how much some people would try to deny it. Sadly it hasn't been used for anything in the show, except making us hate the uncle and showing how messed up Shiki was, but sadly we didn't need it being told she killed her parents was enough. Though until it's shown she killed her parents because of it.

We didn't need the ferris wheel scene it was obvious from the car scenes in the last episode, but somehow this show thinks we're a bunch of idiots and need to press the point further. Heck it even showed us Moe and Shiki's conversation, which we saw in episode 1 again.

Yes, Moe he asked you three times since you didn't react that's a pretty normal thing to do, oh wait I forgot you're not a commoner, so you wouldn't know about such things.

The wedding dress could maybe symbolize new beginnings? In Eastern culture brides often wear red for good fortune as well. (If they’re being traditional with it). Also, I don’t think Magata is dead. She might have just cut off her hair and is impersonating her sister. No one’s seen her before right? (I’ve got a terrible memory sorry if I’m wrong…) Besides, we see her sister on the ferris wheel in the end anyway. I'm not entirely sure how to put pictures in forums, but Moe even says, "but they really do look alike."

About the child theory - Moe calculated that a normal (adult) person couldn't pass through the small passage in the guards' room, but what about a child? They could certainly fit through that, at least up to 10 or 12 years old.

Anyway, I think that an important hint was given to us by Saikawa - that everything was planned a long time ago, and that Red Magic seems to have been projected with a bug to begin with.

Pretty sure Nishinosono killed Magata. It was stated that Nishinosono was angry at Saikawa for being smarter than her, so having Magata figure her out so quickly during the video call likely sparked the same anger in Nishinosono. Likely Magata "liked" Saikawa as well, and given that Saikawa is so obviously fascinated by her, it gives Nishinosono 2 main reasons to kill off Magata:

1. Saikawa likes Magata (=Nishinosono's interpretation of his fascination with Magata)
2. Magata is smarter than Nishinosono

And maybe a third reason, given that the video call is being revealed to us bit by bit, is that Nishinosono is a murderous basket case, which Magata also figured out despite (or because of) Nishinosono's airhead facade.

-------------

This is a crazy theory, but there's a chance Magata=Nishinosono. I keep remembering the parallels drawn last episodes, where Nishinosono was literally repeating word for word what Magata was saying. Now what are the odds of Nishinosono knowing the exact wording? If the pedophile who molested Magata is Nishinosono's dad, maybe she could have heard it from him, but why the heck would her dad talk about the affair with his daughter? Unless Nishinosono tortured and killed him, which draws another parallel with Magata killing her own parents...

I don't even know where I'm going with this, but there must be a reason the show is drawing parallels with Magata and Nishinosono. Either Nishinosono is Magata's successor, daughter or is Magata herself.

As expected, a locked-room case where the killer may have planted him/her/itself inside from the start...at least, that's what I was inducing a few minutes into the episode (before Saikawa echoed it a few minutes later as well, in regards to the no-exits room and the theoretically perfect security system). I half-hope that I am right in this regard, but I also half-hope that the show pull the rug from under me and give me a completely different answer; as long as its coherent and makes sense.

Moe is really growing on me...her attention to detail is astounding and she's able to percept what she observes in amazing ways...dat cigarette deduction took the cake; such a tiny moment, but I was clapping for her at that point.

Intriguing show, hope the 11 episodes will provide a thrilling mystery.
