Can someone explain to me why Maria lost her power between episode 9 and 11 ?

It's confirmed that Galfa didn't rape her so ii don't get whyy she can't use her power ? The gas in the air ? The shock value of being almost raped ?

If you have a clear answer that would be great ( maybe it's explain on the manga ...)

I kinda understood that the steam Galfa used had something to do with it, but I may be wrong.
