I just wanted to show my praise for the excellent OST of this unfportunatelly forgotten film. The OST is done by no other than Kintaro himself and is very beautiful, a very nostalgic ambient music. Unfortunatelly it has been sold out since ages ago, but you may find it if you search well.
Highly recommended.

I downloaded a R2DVDrip expecting the movie to be subbed... but I guess not, hopefully I can get the version from BOX, assuming they have complete subs for it.

The [Henshin] (DVDRip set) did have a "trailer" though and I watched that, and I was completely caught off guard by the music. I just recently went through the Harlock series, Arcadia of My Youth, and the GE999 movie, so it seems like excellent music is everywhere within Leijiverse stuff... but this OST just sounds incredible.

I found a download and am listening to it now, it's pretty mindblowing. I'm even getting some Blade Runner vibes too, and that's pretty much impossible to replicate.

I hope LE can finish the series sometime soon. The Leijiverse is huge, but I'm even more interested in it since it's an older 80's series, so it probably has a charm a lot of the newer stuff might lack.

Well, the OST is different in the series and in the movie. Kintaro only did the music for the movie. Leiji anime movies are good, but his old series possesses some very high quality OSTs.

So, is that BOX file any good?

Hmm, was going to PM you, but I guess we can talk about it here (and who else is going to read this? ... lol)

Well the BOX file seems pretty good, the subs are there and they seem fine. The quality I can live with, but the quality of that DVDrip I got is pretty insane (pretty big leap over the BOX release). So now I'm kind of looking around and seeing if I can maybe just find an .srt subs file and then just use that with the DVDrip. You know of anything?

I've actually found downloads mostly called "Queen Millennia Deluxe Edition" with the movie and a sub file but no seeds anywhere.

And kind of curious about the movie since it looks awesome, is it kind of comparable to the GE999 movie, Arcadia of My Youth, etc, and kind of its own thing even when compared to the main series?

We can talk about it here without a problem :).

I'll download that BOX version because I don't own any at the time. And sorry, I don't know of any subs around.

Th movie as with any movie of Matsumoto at the time is awesome. As you may know, it doesn't relate directly to G999 and Harlock movies as both interacted with each other, but it's amazing in an individual way.

Yeah that's why I'm pretty interested to see how it compares to Harlock and GE999, and if it's kind of its own universe, that'll be really cool too.

And I just can't get enough of the character designs in Leiji related stuff, especially the females. They just look so majestic and unique.

Absolutely, there's magic in there. The characters designs with that peculiar animation and colours of the time and it's music makes those works unique pieces of art.

Any luck with the BOX release? How'd you see the movie before anyways? (unless you watched it raw?)

And man, been thinking about it lately but there really is a certain magic behind these older shows based off Leiji's works. I am a 110% classin anime fanboy all the way, but the Harlock series, GE999, etc, this stuff all feels so timeless, like they haven't aged at all in any area and that won't change no matter how many years goes on. Really classic stuff.

So, here's to hoping LE finishes the series someday... and maybe some good subs or a quality translated video on the movie, lol. I might watch the BOX release this weekend though, the quality isn't that bad at all, but that Henshin DVD rip is truly top notch.

I still haven't checked BOX release. I have watched a old fansubed VHS rip years ago, but I don't think you can find that one available anymore.

LE are slow but they did finish Harlock didn't they? it was worth well the wait during all those years, but Harlock was initially a project of another fansub, corn pone flicks, but that fansub fortunatelly joined with LE staff to keep the project going. So that might mean that there are people inside the fansub now that will not let Leiji's projects die. Or so I'd like to think. :D

Tell me later which one is the best rip, Henshin or BOX.

Henshin is drastically better and I've got even better news. I was able to extract the subs themselves from that BOX release, so I'll be able to upload that file that you could use with the Henshin rip. I'm not sure if you've done it before, but all you have to do is put the subs file and movie file in the same folder with the same exact name (excluding the filetype name of course), then the player should read the subs.

I just need to edit them real quick and make the timing match, then I'll probably post it tomorrow.

So yeah, just grab the Henshin rip, should be easy to torrent. And I'll post the subs. :)

LE did finish Harlock but sadly right afterwards, Toei USA licensed that and GE999 to crunchyroll.com for official streaming (with subs). LE thought it would be "right" to take down the project then. This happened right after they finished it so that kind of sucked. You can still find torrents of their Harlock set though, just not officially through them. I'm glad I got it, it's a really well done.

Many thanks for the sub file! I'll download the movie now, it may take a while as there is only one seed, but I'll post somehting as soon as I can check the movie.
