What, in your opinion, is the connection between Philosophy and Physics?

This is a commemorative thread dedicated to the joining of our new members(particularly @Tenoptimal). All perspectives from any times(in the future(or the past if you allow for time travel)) are welcome.

Did you know that Newton was a Philosopher? His most remarkable write-up was called "Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica (Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy)." Now, technically "Natural Philosophy" is what we regard to today as "Science." If we consider Newton's work in terms of what understand today as Philosophy, he wouldn't be a very good one(at least imo) because he came up with things like "Observations upon the Prophecies of Daniel, and the Apocalypse of St. John."

This thread is always alive.

In my opinion, physics is one of the many ways we can do philosophy. Physics relies upon the existence of an objective reality, and it considers us external observers who are trying to figure out the laws of this reality. However, that is not the only way to see the world, i.e. an objective reality may not exist. It might be that a conscious observer is necessary for this world to exist.

That's a pretty good answer. Consciousness can also be a part of physics. Physics allow for Chemistry which allows for Biology and Neuroscience. If consciousness is a product of the neurons, then it is a product of physics. It's possible to calculate the position of every water molecule from the initial changes of the first few molecules, so the complexity of the brain might also not be that far from our grasp.

But then we could all be inside computer simulations like in the matrix.
