| A delight! Volume 1 of the BD/DVD which was released for sale on December 25, 2014 comes with an "All-new Original Picture Drama" (新作オリジナルピクチャードラマ). They are not calling it an "OVA". That is because it is not animated. It is very simply a bunch of original still pictures which they combined with the voices of the cast to create a drama. Its length is 08:55. There is a long webpage in Japanese which describes everything. But if you scroll down, you can see six of the images. http://daito-anime.com/bluray.html The title of this "All-new Original Picture Drama" is 「大図書館の羊飼い 前夜祭」 Pronounced: Daitoshokan no hitsujikai zenyasai I think that this concept of an "All-new Original Picture Drama" is a great idea. It is more interesting than an audio drama and it is less expensive to produce than an OVA. It is better to watch a sequence of very high quality drawings rather than the half-hearted animation that is often seen on OVAs. |

| except this is hardly the first time picture dramas have been the bonus as opposed to an OVA or specials. Off the top of my head, Code Geass is famous for having a ton of picture dramas. |
| @justinefremlouw: Thanks for pointing out that earlier example. This is totally new to me. Upon searching for other examples of "All-new Original Picture Dramas", I found some for which the quality of the artwork was astoundingly poor, to the point of not quite attaining high school art class standard. However, the plus side is that it provides us with another opportunity to hear the voice actors. By the way, there is a plan to have one of these picture dramas included with each of the six BD/DVD volumes. In each case, it will feature two of the voice performers. But they simply called them ピクチャードラマ rather than also including the words "All-new Original". Back in those days they sold DVDs, but Blu-rays were not yet available, apparently. They are all mentioned on the Japanese-language Wikipedia page for the series. | From Googling around a lot and looking at various definitions, the title of this picture drama, "zenyasai" (前夜祭), seems to roughly mean, "the evening before the big day". So it could be the "eve" in "New Year's Eve" or "Christmas Eve" or "All Hallow's Eve". It could be the evening prior to a major event, such as graduation. After watching this, I really don't see what they are referring to. I was getting worried for Shirosaki-san. What a relief it was just a dream. |
