Yeah, so he's the bad guy in the show, the one who's going to shut down Amagi Brilliant Park if they can't hit the 500k visitor count needed by 9pm on July 31st.

He also doesn't show up very often either, and just seems to pop in once in a while as if to remind us that "Hey, don't forget I'm the bad guy!"

Then they start showing his background story some more and how it relates to the other characters. So since the anime doesn't exactly cover this topic very well, I had a question about him for anyone who's read the light novels.

The story went like this(or at least what Isuzu tells in the anime): dragon came, ruined maple syrup land, king called wizard, wizard killed dragon, king didn't keep his promise, king attacked wizard, wizard cursed Latifa.
So yeah, wizard man was betrayed by the king so he cursed the princess. Totally understandable in his situation.

You make it sound like the fact he cursed Latifa to a horrible, never ending existence, for doing absolutely nothing and being a innocent party, doesn't make him a bad guy. Sure her dad, the King, was a back stabbing ass, but two wrongs don't make a right and the Wizard is just as bad for what he did to her. Now if he cursed the King instead, that'd be a different matter entirely. I'd probably do it myself.

So from what I know just watching the anime, he doesn't really seem like a bad guy per se. Antagonistic towards Seiya and the others yes, but not "I'm a bad guy who's out to ruin your day muwahahhaha"! type stuff.

Lets see- he cursed the innocent princess instead of the king that presumably wronged him.

He cursed her to die by draining her Animus.

The only reason why she's even living is because they opened the park for her to collect Animus.

He's happy with the situation because he enjoys feeding on her hope that the curse may be broken every year before the deadline, and her despair when the curse remains. Repeated slow torture every year.

She can never have any sort of life or meaning ful relationship because she will forget everything after a year.

^^ Seems pretty evil to me.

As a litmus test, how would you feel if you were in Latifa's shoes?

Maybe I'm thinking too much but...
it seems to me that he just told them how to overcome Latifa curse...
