| This is Chaosemperor and this pick was mine. I chose this movie because 1) I like the world and main character of the Vampire Hunter D series and 2) Tainted Donut had yet to watch it. While the group didn't comment much at the end of the movie, I personally enjoyed watching this movie again, but sadly little by little I began to see the great animation start to become dated by todays anime standards. |
| Now that you mention it, we really didn't comment much on it. I think we got sidetracked too fast. I don't even remember if I said anything. Well, although there were a few flaws that bugged me I liked it enough to rate it good (7/10). The ending I thought was nice since D seemed more 'human' when he kept his end of the promise. I can't recall if he's ever done something like that or even if that particular scene was in the novels because the most I remember about him is he's usually cold to most people around him. |

| no one said anything, we barely talked about it, in that regard, i think it the movie was fairly good, i remembered it being worst, but watching it again, i can say it was that bad, female role was a bit lacking, but eh, what can you do its a vamp D movie, if the females actually played an important role in any of the movies, I'd think we'd have to call it Ann Rice's Vampire Hunter D. i still want to know more about that guy in his and, and the obvious his past... As for the animation, to many still frame kills , i like the instant deaths as much as the next guy but for every enemy, oh my god, i was wait for a nice actual choreographed fight scene, more than the occasional two sword lash + an instant kill combo. if your going to make an anime with a lacking story, you have to put something in it to balance it out. Not saying it wasn't a good story, it was just a bit more like a spin off to me than an actual story of the character, this movie could of been a side filler if it was a series.. Love vampire hunter D's characters, hate the animators. :) |
