Japan's first Peach-boy seems pretty pro with his slams and submission holds, though smacking someone til their eyes fall out is pretty oldschool and frowned upon nowadays.

Didn't really follow the disconnect in the plot to his animal army, but apparently this (Momotaro) is an old folktale and this is exactly what happens in it (Wikipedia doesn't fill in any blanks).

I actually liked this one. The story got a little hard to follow at a couple of times, but not enough to mess up the story. The story was also quite long and interesting, it had good pacing. The art was great, I guess the animation was fine for that time.

Not bad, and it's always nice to watch these kind of "older" anime to see where anime came from and to be honest it wasn't that bad either! All in all a pretty nice story telling of the peach kid.

I was solidly impressed with this and loved seeing that old folktale retold so well. Solid pacing, the VA was done well and conveyed tone excellently, and the animation was was to my personal liking.

Vengeance of everyone's grudge.

So Momotaro tamed the demons and took their treasure, so that's what he's famous for mhm!

The fight scenes with the demons especially the one with Momotaro and the arch demon was a little off, but because it was an old anime I can forgive. I've always wanted to watch this folktale since it always referenced a lot in the anime I've watched and I must say it wasn't bad for my liking.

7/10.

I should've watched this before the others momotaro stories.

the birth of momotaro reminded me of beelzebub.

momotaro the oni slayer/tamer is another great title for him.

I think compared to Yasuji Murata works Yamamoto ones looks a little worse tbh, despite being from some years after (except fight scenes, that were above average). That being said the story is interesting and incredibly important for japanese folklore. Also Momotaro > Tanjiro both as mc and as a demon slayer (i'm joking don't get mad lol)

Someone should make a paper on the impact of Momotarou on Japan throughout history.

Thanks for sharing a vid.

I like the sound of "oni slayer". Hmm, so Momotaro is THE OG demon slayer... LOL.
