| Now is the time for Karin to make her move and make sure she is more than just a fond memory of his time in the big city! Well played by both Karin and Ran who is, as crevette said, a great wingman (wing woman? wingirl? wingbear?) This is absolutely one of my favorite manga. The art is fantastic and the characters, especially Karin but also Ran and Karin's friend from school, are outrageously cute. Yutaka is a fool, but for good reasons. He obviously has very little self esteem and has never considered himself a "good catch". Therefore he has no reason to believe that a girl like Karin, who really could have her pick of guys in any scenario, would be willing to leave the city and all of her friends and family, including her sick mother, to come with him to the countryside when he leaves to take over his family's business. Sure, she confessed to him, but she is young. No matter how much he loves her, it would be hard to believe that she would even consider going with him and he cannot stay in the big city. Since he is the serious type that wouldn't want to date a girl with no intention of a long term, lasting relationship (like, say, marriage) he wouldn't want to lead her on by dating her, only to leave her alone when he must return home... I get that... But I think he doesn't understand Karin that well and is wrong about her willingness to be with him, no matter what. I hope that this nice, romantic gondola ride will clear up that part of things. I am also really curious about Karin's mother. What exactly is her illness? or... I just really wish there was more information about her... Maybe moving to the countryside would be good for her health? Maybe that will happen after Yutaka leaves? I can see that happening! We already know that she has a friend with relatives in the area near where he lives... In any event, this was great chapter with the promise of an even greater one to come! |
