I'm thinking about getting the DVD box set from Funimation. Should I watch the dub or stick with subtitles?

Check them out and decide for yourself. But Hilary Haag as Becky is great!

Be warned, if you're going to turn on full captions, prepare for LOTS of reading (and pausing), as per the usual SHAFT craziness. Well, the signs are usually pointless, so minimal captions may be best. Up to you.

I think the dubs are superior. The Japanese voice actors are more subtle with their delivery of the gags. To me the English version, though great, is too straightforward at times in the delivery. Some things just do not translate very well and that messes with the timing.

Since this series relies heavily on timing, I strongly recommend the original Japanese.

Don't you mean the subs are superior? You seem to state one thing, then say the exact opposite in more detail later.

Anyway, I got the boxset, so I'll be watching it soon. From what I've seen (courtesy of Oyasumi and qq), this show is brilliant.

Funny, I actually thought the opposite... It sounded like the English voice actors gave everyone way more character than the Japanese did.

» For the record, the dub's the better version.
