Date A Live (light novel)
| So having read till volume 9 (with only vol. 7 on a "half-mode" do to full translation not being yet available) I though it would be interesting to hear all of your conspiracy theories regarding this story. So first the facts we know so far (till vol 9) and those spoilers that are already known from vol 10: - The first spirit appeared 30 years ago - Woodman and Westcott used to work together when the first spirit appeared. - Woodman and Westcott are the only ones that created the realizer technology. - In Vol 7 Westcott called Shidou by the Takamiya family name which implies he did knew Shidou was Mana brother. - Shidou ability to seal spirits is not normal. - The human spirits are created through a sapphire crystal. - According to Vol 9, the other world spirits leave a sapphire crystal when they die. - Phantom is the one giving this crystals to humans and creating spirits out of them. - 5 years ago when Kotori was made into a spirit, Phantom said that it would be bad if they remembered him, however the same did not happen with Miku a few years later. This implies that either Shidou or Kotori are special cases. - In Vol. 7, Kuromi goes to the DEM to search for the second spirit in order to find out the true identity of the first spirit (so she could kill it). This implies that somehow the second spirit was being held in the DEM facility which would mean there is a "plot solver" somewhere out there. - On Vol 9 it was said by Westcott many times that he will use the spirits power and that it was a victory to be able to inverse them. - Westcott also declares that he will use Shidou has the key to inverse all spirits. - Origami and Kuromi will go back in time 5 years in order to find Phantom. - Origami will be made into a spirit by Phatom in Vol 10. - While trying to kill Phantom she discovers that it was her that killed her parents when she was small. Because of that Origami will then Inverse into rage mode. Now that these facts are done, let's start the theory for the future story based on them (all of them are my own delusions, so please do not take them seriously): - 30 yrs ago while Woodman and Westcott were working together they saw the appearance of the first spirit. There was one more member to the team (Takamiya). - The first spirit came silently in order to create peaceful relations and even shared the realizer technology. The first spirit fell in love with Takamiya, hence Shidou and Mana were born. Being "half-blood" Shidou and Mana had no spirit powers. - In order to escape Westcott ambitions/to avenge Takamiya death provoked by Westcott, the original spirit took Mana and Shidou to the future to save them and after that the spirit provoked the big spacequake from 30 years ago to try to kill Westcott. - The reason Kuromi wants to kill the original spirit, is cause the sapphire crystals that Phatom has been giving they all belonged to other spirits that were present during the spacequake 30 yrs ago. In fact while trying to take take revenge on Westcott 30 yrs ago, the original spirit (and most powerful of them all) ended up killing many spirits at the time. - So 17 yrs later (?? - maybe 20 yrs since it needs to take in consideration their age when they were adopted) Mana was found out by Westcott while Shidou was found out by Woodman. - Westcott experimented on Mana due to her half-blood strong body being resistant to magic. Shidou on the other side was placed on care of the Itsuka family (which were already members of Ratatosk at the time - true reason why they spent a lot of time "traveling for work" - Seriously anyone believes a electronic shop owner couple would spend so much time traveling just for electronics?!?!). - Phatom is in some way blood related to Shidou, that's why s/he knew that Shidou was able to seal the spirits power (maybe even the original spirit, therefore Shidou and Mana's mother - since all spirits so far are female). Considering that Phantom sealed Kotori and Shidou memories from 5 yrs back and that Shidou himself has no memories from before is adoption, it stands to reason that these memories were also sealed by Phantom. - The reason Shidou is able to seal other spirits power can be explained as a half-blood issue, by not having powers of his own, Shidou is able to steal other spirits power, therefore sealing them. Eventually, he'll be able to fully control all the powers he stole, which is why Woodman is so worried and why he said it was "too soon" on the early volumes. - The reason Phantom is giving the crystal to humans can be explained in 3 points: in order to fight DEM ambitions; to awake Shidou latent powers, which is why Kotori was the first to be turned; and through Ratatosk to start building peaceful relations between spirits and humans (this was the original purpose 30 yrs back, but was later aborted due to Westcott actions). - Westcott wants to use the spirits power for himself, this would mead to be able to control and maybe absorb the sapphire crystal. For this purpose gathering the crystal is not enough, he also need the crystal to be in a fractured state, which would allow him to take hold of it's power. - Origami will definitely play a "joker" card in the end. Since she is at the same time part of JGSDF, part of DEM and Shidou lover (if it is one sided doesn't matter) she will most likely have a huge role to play, something like being saved by Shidou and have her powers sealed, and then called back to JGSDF. Then DEM will use her in order to catch the other spirits and inverse them. When all it's almost lost and spirits are being controled by DEM, she will then save everyone by having her heart speak louder (and of course just cause Shidou asked her too). - We will also find out later that the reason spirits keep on appearing on earth against their own will is due to the fact that DEM is forcing them to come. If a spirit comes by it's own will, then she'll come silently, however if the spirit is forced to entry this world against her will, a spacequake is then formed, which is good for DEM since it gave them a reason to attack in order to take hold of the sapphire crystals. Well for now this are all the crazy theories I can come up with... Anyway try to share your crazy ideas about the future of this story, all crazy theories will be taken into account as long as they follow the facts we already take for granted from previous volumes.
