| High School DxD is popular because it's plot isn't half bad, throw a lot of fan-service, comedy and action in there and people will love it. It's not the most thought provoking show, but it's enjoyable to watch. If you don't like the show, that doesn't make it 'sad' that so many others do. |

| TLR is basically fanservice for fanservice sake, Maken Ki kind of as well; but DxD while mainly a harem comedy does actually have a really fun and interesting plot. You honestly could get rid of the harem and still have a good show, if you got rid of harem on the first two, well you would have nothing. |
| Truth be told, I haven't read the LNs so I can't comment on what goes on in that department. I personally love the show, I'm not really against fanservice if the plot is good enough and at least DxD has a good one. |
