| "Yeah...right" he goes into the back room looking for anything useful that they could use |
| "Doesn't seem to be much around here. Find anything back there?" Natalie searched through shelves and containers near the front desk. |
| "Nah......a few canisters but they seem almost empty...." he says walking back into where natalie was |
| "Well there's one that's about half full, but I don't see any others here." She picked it up and stood back up. "Not enough to completely refill the tank but it get us a little farther." |
| "Yeah true....might at least get us to another city or town....anyway lets go fill up and get outta here" |
| "Hopefully there's some there." She started to walk back out of the station |
| He walked out with Natalie and look a final look around "Just me...or does it sound too quiet?" |
| "Now that you mention it." She stopped for a moment. "There was only one of them. Normally there would be more." |
| "Yeah.....Usually i see around 3 or 4 in a group....how...weird" |
| "Another incentive to keep moving." She continued on to the vehicle and open the cap to the gas tank, pouring the gasoline in. "But then again they have been acting weird in LA for a few weeks now. |
| "Hmmmm they've been acting weird all over then....Vegas was crazy......absolutely none of them inside the city, its like they scattered for some reason" |
| "Who knows what they're up to." She finished pouring and closed the cap. "Since it's everywhere, well probably find out eventually and it won't be good." |
| "Yeah most likely..." he says getting into the drivers seat and putting on his belt |
| Natalie climbed into the passenger seat and shut the door behind her. "For not being the brightest creatures, they seem to know what they are doing." She buckled herself in. |
| "Yeah.....kinda like animals if you ask me, going off instinct is my guess" he said as he turned on the engine and pulled onto the highway |
| "That's a scary part about them. Just the fact that their instincts seem to be good." |
| "mmmhmmm i agree.....damn terrifying how they act like that" |
| "Guess that leaves everyone else left in the dark about their plans. It also seems like they have a way of communication across long distances." |
| "hmmm yeah, like a hive mind maybe?" |
| "Maybe, wish I could know more about them. Be useful knowing what we're up against." |
| "Hmmm maybe we can think a way to capture one? know more?" |
| "You would attract a mob if you did. Trust me i've tried and it doesn't go to well." |
| "yeah i guess your right, not gonna get lucky i guess" |
| "It's a possibility if we find another one like back there all by itself. But I don't know how likely that will be. Oh and for your question about knowing more." She reached back into her bag and pulled out the book she had been writing and reading. "I've been doing A lot of research on them wrote everything down." |
| "really? mind telling me some of it while we drive?" he said as he looked forward on the road |
| "Well there's the already obvious stuff that if you don't know already then I don't know how you're still alive. Anyways my latest studies on them is on their blood and flesh. They seemed to be genetically altered from the disease. I think if I can figure how it was changed there could be some kind of cure for it." |
| "hmm i see......think thats a possibility? to make a cure i mean?" he asks, trying to concentrate on the road but intrigued by Natalies observations |
| "I'm not sure but it might be a possibility but it's going to take awhile with a ton of trials. If it doesn't work well then the world is just doomed to be inhabited by them." |
| "hmmmmm i see....so what if they can be changed? can it be used airborn to cure them all? what about the ones that have lost limbs or organs missing?" |
| "It would depend on what the cure needs to change back for them to revert. And for lost appendages there isn't anything I can do about those. Nothing in this world has really been able to do that for that many people at one time. To do that you would have to have a miracle." |
| "A mircale........thats one thing we need...." he sighs as they drive past a sign |
| "Agreed, but they don't seem to happen when and how we want it to. " |
| "Yeah pretty much our luck" he laughs |
| "I guess if they did work like that they wouldn't be called miracles anymore." She looked out her window for a moment. "Where are we headed to?" |
| "Dunno....wherever the road lets us" he sighs "i suppose" |
| "Guess i'll wait and see where we end up then. And quit sighing all the time, it makes you such a downer." |
| "Cant help it, but ill try" he says with a smile "why wouldnt i be down? not like its the end of the world right?" he laughs |
| "Well if it is the end of the world would you like to spend it sighing all the time or actually make more of it? And good that you're trying cause that's step one." |
| "Make more of it? how so?" he asks inquisitively |
| "I don't know. I'm sure there are more enjoyable ways to spend on what could be the last day of the earth then what your sighing all the time. Unless you get enjoyment from that of course. Then in that case you need to get more of a life." |
| he laughs " and pre-tell what shall i do for more enjoyable ways?" |
| "Well let's see, What's some of your favorite things to do?" |
| "Drink,Shoot.....ugh.......guitar...but i lost that a while back....umm......think thats it these days" |
| "I'm starting to see why you like to sigh a lot, but then again I think it's getting harder to do somethings especially with the lack of people. Looks like we'll have to make up new ways of entertainment." |
| "Exactly, but what" he laughs |
| "Let's see. We have a world filled with infected zombie like people, anything we can find in empty places and whatever else we can create. So basically anything you can do with those materials that you want to make your own entertainment. So to incorporate you're hobbies, target practice with the zombie like people, alcohol you can probably find at any of the abandon bars, and we can also find you a new guitar somewhere." |
| "Hmm....perhaps we should start our own settlement? for survivors and the like? have it well defended and out of the way" |
| "It be a great way to keep the human race alive. Where would we set it up though?" |
| "Hmmm would have to be somewhere safe......where barely any people go" |
