Natalie making it to a storage building began to unlock the door when she heard heard noises coming out from the shadows across the street. She turned and kept her eyes behind her while she tried to find the correct key.
Don’t tell me they've been here this whole time waiting for me. She struggled with opening the door so she turned back around to the door. “Come on.” She yelled in frustration. “Now is not the time to get jammed shut.” She heard moaning sounds relatively close behind her. Turning around she found several zombies coming out from the shadows. In a bit of a panic she shoved the door as hard as she could to end up flying through it as it opened. Getting up, she hurried and close the door as the zombies pushed back on her from the other side. With an arm or two through the crack of the door she reached down to her boot and grabbed a dagger. Cutting off a couple of arms she was able to shut the door and lock it. As they continued to pound on the door, Natalie had moved away from the door and pulled down the second set of reinforced steel walls and latched them to the floor. Now in the complete and total darkness she rummaged around for candles. Finding them she lit them one by one she lit them for some light. The inside appeared to be a refurbish apartment with most basic necessities.
She pulled up a tiny generator from one of the boxes and set up a laptop. She sent out a radio broadcast system from there to anyone that was a possible survivor who could meet up with her or if there was anyone out there who she could reach. She then walked over to the cabinet and restocked it with the things she had just brought back. As she walked back to her laptop, the sounds of the zombies could still be heard. She looked over at the arms that she had sliced off, now sitting in a pool of blood. Putting on latex gloves she picked them up and took them to a mini lab in the back compartment of the storage house. She began to study the arms in search of a way to prevent becoming a zombie and a possible antidote to help others who had been turned. The pounding from outside got louder and louder, then suddenly stopped.
I wonder where they are going? Natalie thought for a moment when the arms started moving. Reacting as quickly as she could she took a candle and set them ablaze. She watched as they twitch while burning till they were just a pile of ash. “So much for trying to study them.”Leaving the ashes there she walked back to her computer to see if anyone had tried to reply to her message. Seeing no one she sighed. Looking at the blood left on her floor she took a few samples and examined them figuring the blood couldn't attack her. |
