This is kind of funny and also completely true, gieven the "quality" of the first episode.

It's fairly common for writers to be embarrassed by their own work.

In my literature class last semester, we had an author come in one day and talk about writing and stuff, he said he has multiple short stories that he refuses to even acknowledge that they exist any more, because he dislikes them so much.

This post is rather strange. Let me explain. You say that the article is "completely true" and then I will assume you are being ironic about the quality of the show which means that you thought it was bad. But this is a quote from that article that you "completely" agree with "He feels that the anime is fairly interesting, though, and is surprised at how much they have been able to do with the material.". I just thought this sounded peculiar so I pointed it out not that it actually matters much.

Anyway, I agree that this anime is severely lacking, but this article is highly sensationalist. First it makes it seem like he hated everything about the anime and after reading the whole thing you realize that he simply didn't take too well to the fact that his work was going to be animated which, let's admit it, is fairly common. Most authors feel pessimistic about adaptations of their work, especially when they aren't involved closely with the production which seems to be the case here. It just so happens that most of them don't voice those fears to not harm sales. Worse than how he feels about adaptations of his work is how unenthusiastic he seems to be about the story somehow.

that title is very misleading to what he actually talks about, the thing he was negative about was he disliked the idea of mixed media for not only his work but in general

Sad taste you have there kid you came up to me in the first place making you look more like a kid who got slapped without me even knowing it and start crying about it to me

Don't state the obvious, can't we just have fun talking bad about this anime?
Seriously, though: You are right and it's obviously a fairly common phenomenon many of us experience at work.

Well if I was the author I would hate this adaptation.

The first episode is all over the place, there next to no relation to the LN or even the manga.

The first couple chapters were focused on the MC, the girl and Miu, and progress to the point everyone has power, but what the fuck why does everyone have powers in episode 1... Where is the part where Miu gets knocked out and meets up with the MC in the principle's room before going to the crappy world.

I really liked the first episode, awesome sword fight and he must have been holding a gold bamboo sword to only break when it broke.

He hated the fact that his writing got an adaption nothing more. Although It makes me wonder about why I watch this when his favorite character is Miu based on the fact that she's easy to write.

I was always under the impression that the author's had to give permission before a studio would adapt their works. THat might not be true and just in my head, but if so, then he's partly to blame really.

But I'm not gonna get all serious business over this because I actually enjoy this show because of how generic it is. That may sound weird, but it's strangely enjoyable.

I haven't read the LN or manga but is it really that different from the anime?

I honestly have to say that the first episode was good with the application of the battles but due to that, nothing was explained properly and was very confusing and misleading at first but this was solved in episode 2 in my opinion. Things may be moving too quickly but it seems to be a good adaptation although I can't really say that as I haven't the original series as I stated. It does ponder to me that he liked Mui due to the fact that: "she was easy to write".

Guess not all authors are happy with their own work at times.

I like the show so far. Okay, it is pretty generic, but at least they did not try to make something unprecedented only to fail miserably.

All i remember was exposition dumps in the most unfitting places. Like ermahgawd dramatics about my big bro, then goes to exposition dumping, then exposition dumps 30 seconds later.

Indeed, self criticism is such a bad idea. It kind of shows that "quality" is objective in art and that the creator should have never wrote such a "bad" piece of work.

Just so you know, most normal artists look back to what they created and see that they could have done "better" from their point of view, as the authors words are not the word of God anymore after he released the work.

personally, I find that the show is jumping all over the place and does not seem to have a clear direction. However, disappointment in one's work is no unique occurrence as people tend to enjoy downgrading themselves- whether for humility or to lower expectations. Nevertheless, the work does not give me a particularly displeasing feeling, except for perhaps "how did they jump there?" expressions.

Just watched the first episode, and that was pretty bad. No idea if it was because they rushed it, changed something, or whatever. Of course Miu is easy to write, I've seen her a lot in other works.
