| Sarasa (Legend of Basara) http://myanimelist.net/character.php?id=4330  The protagonist, a 15-year-old girl who takes the name of her murdered twin bother Tatara, who was known as the child of fate. As Tatara, she wields the sword of Byakko and leads the survivors of Byakko Village. Even among her allies few people know she is a girl. Sarasa hopes to create a land that is fertile, full of flora, and free of strife. Though she is quick to cry and psychologically weak in some respects, over the course of the story she develops undeniable skills in leadership and swordplay, and becomes the central figure of the Tatara Army. Momoko Takanashi (Boku ni Natta Watashi) http://myanimelist.net/character.php?id=12278  The story is about Takanashi Momoko, a 16 year old girl. Her life is pretty normal, until her twin brother, Akira, disappears. Akira was supposed to enter a high class all boys school but he runs away to pursue his dream of becoming a photographer, leaving only a note explaining his actions. At first Momoko and her mother thought it was just a joke but he really didn't come back. Now Momoko's mother went ballistic and started cutting her daughters hair saying that she has to take her brother's place until he comes back. Not good for her since she has to disguise herself as a boy and what's this about being roommates with another guy? Will she be able to hide her secret and survive or will she be found out? Makoto Kashiwagi (Boku no Futatsu no Tsubasa) http://myanimelist.net/character.php?id=12712  Makoto was raised by her grandfather as a boy because she possessed male genitalia. However, with the onset of puberty, Makoto also started to develop breasts and so learned that she is a fertile and fully functional hermaphrodite. At the start of the manga, Makoto looks, when fully clothed, like a tall, beautiful girl, and she has adopted female mannerisms—although she continues to use boku for "I", which is usually used only by boys and young men. Makoto is unusually strong and athletic, but somewhat naive because of her sheltered upbringing. She is caught unaware when she first develops physical attraction to other people, and her attempts to deal with her sexuality is played for both humor and drama. She initiates romantic/sexual relationships with four individuals over the course of the story, but in the end seems to realise that her true attraction is to Hiromi. At the very end of the story, it is implied that the two will be in a relationship with each other. |
