| Without spoiling anything: the show focus is not exactly about collecting the said cards, despite what the show makes you think. There are more plots and things that are far more familiar to watchers of fate/zero and fsn. I'd say cards are merely a tool. If to go via very light spoilers: |

If the 4th war never started or it happened earlier wouldn't Kiritsugu still be some what cold to achieve his goal? Since he never got the "vision" near the end of the 4th war? Though if the 4th war was earlier things would be very different such as Kiritsugu never saving Shirou. No.Even during the 4th war Kiritsugu wanted to run away with Ilya and Iri..LN readers know that he wanted to even before he summoned Saber.The vision doesnt matter.Just think that the conversation he had with Iri in the castle just before Caster's attack happened just after Ilya's birth,but this time both him and Iri where able to follow that will. | And Rin is still in Mage Association. And Luvia and Rin are still bitter rivals. And Rin's personality is still pretty much similar to FSN-Rin's (despite that being majorly shaped by 4th heaven's feel events in FSN). Waver's stuff can easily be explained through the fact that 4 heaven's feel was just "catalyst" for his growth - the qualities and personality traits that made him who he is were always there, but subdued by his personality. By that we can argue that other wavers in other timelines could ALSO become El-Melloi II, just via different catalysts. So people with inherent personality traits will end up in similar positions as always, but via different means and catalysts. Shirou, while above also applies to him, on other hand is simply fated to play a role in all of that stuff, one way or the other. In canon FSN he already is sort-of, a fate's answer to Gilgamesh and Kirei, so any universe with holy grail war will have one or another form of Shirou. |
