| Sounds good. I wish more anime did this. Adds more incentive for buying the discs for new content rather than the common 2-3m specials added in most discs. |

| I will probably be keeping S2 on hard drive as i enjoy watching DxD every few months, so for me this is a great plus and definitively a great idea from the production team. Hopefully the sales will receive a huge boost so a S3 will be OK'd |

| Ah, so this is what's happening. And I hate it - comparing both versions makes it look a lot more like originally content was CUT, not genuinely new content ADDED later. I watched the first season on TV, and then the NEW from download. Now NEW is on TV (Germany, prosiebenmaxx) and Friday I watched episode 4 there, and it had extra content. The other version I watched is 24:00 minutes long, The TV-version now is 25:56. The "new" stuff is all when Issei is about to get magical-spanked 1000 times, in this extended version Koneko steps in and claims half of the blame - so she should receive half of the spanking. Issei tries to stop Rias from spanking Koneko - Koneko surprised by this gentlemanliness - but Rias goes ahead and ... touches Koneko's butt ever so softly. That actually was kind of sexy. Then Issei gets the remaining 999 slaps on his butt, you can see the first ones applied and THEN it cuts to Issei and Rias arriving at his home. In the cut-down version it cuts directly from Issei learning he is to receive 1000 magical slaps on the butt, Rias hauling out for the first slap, to Issei and Rias arriving at his home. It is this cut that made me think the "original" version was cut down - the cut is rude, it feels not "natural". And also everyone wanted to see Issei spanked, but instead SWOOSH! it is Asia with just an Apron and nothing else on. Bah. this sucks. Now I feel like i have to watch it again, on TV - but the German dub is not that good. I mean it is nice that Asia's German voice is not squeeking my ears apart and many voices are fine, but some others are just not fitting - Rias voice does not compare with Hikasa Yoko, Azazeel's Japanese VA is irreplaceable, and it overall sometimes seems a bit "lifeless" compared to the Japanese dub. But mainly it is that the translation often is gruesomly bad. For whoever is in Germany - maybe also Austria - the episodes are streamed for free through their website for one week (Thursday to Wednesday). Not HD, but so what. |
