know that in some realeases they added chapters from shin devilman (for example prior to the 1st chapter) which is a manga that came out decades later and, i found, ruins the feel of the original devilman.

it's super gory, i almost stopped reading the whole thing without knowing it's not even the manga i was aiming to read.

so if you hate gore you should know the real manga is not at all that detailed.
and the same if you like gore. hahaha

Shin Devilman came out 7 years later, not decades later. The edition you're talking about is called Deluxe edition and it features a lot of changes besides adding Shin Devilman. It was released in 1987 and if you come across the Japanese bilingual edition that one is based on it.
