| Light novel spoilers ahead! Be warned!! Seeing that the final volume is coming out early next month and the English translations are lagging behind (as always), I've decided to open up an early discussion thread for those who like to get spoiled. Get out now if you hate spoilers! I read volume 11 in Chinese so the translation may not be 100% accurate compare to the original source material, but it's the best I can do to understand the story since I dunno Japanese. First of all, I ship Kirino x Kyousuke but I always try to be as unbiased as possible. However, the materials at the very end of the light novel (epilogue aside) may disappoint all the other shippers out there that are not shipping for the siblings. Here's a bit of a background story. Kyousuke used to be a very capable man. But due to events between him and Sakurai Akimi, a classmate of Kyousuke when he was in his last year of middle school (so 3 years ago), he became the "useless" dude we see today. The story reveals that Akimi was suppose to confess her feelings to Kyousuke on their school trip back then, but an accident occurred and she ended up switching school and cutting all contacts with Kyousuke. That was when Kyousuke realized he's just a normal human being, not the super human his beloved little sister thought of him to be. This event caused Kirino to despise his brother and also started the "cold war" between her and Manami (who helped turn Kyousuke into the person he is today). Kirino was a super bro-con back then as you can guess. Anyway, a good portion of volume 11 is about Manami, Kirino, and her brother's past. Why they went from childhood friends and good siblings to near strangers as we seen at the start of the story. Now as to what I think of the ending will be based on the events in volume 11. It will be Kirino leaving Japan for model work/study but Kyousuke will eventually follow her. Why? 1. Manami tried to return the siblings back to what she would consider as "normal siblings". But the idea was rejected by both of them. Kirino does not want what happened in the past 3 years to be forgotten stating that if things went back to "normal", all those times would be gone. Kyousuke think that they are already chatting like they used to, so they're already back to "normal" hence there's no need to agree to what Manami suggested. 2. Kyousuke finally found Sakurai Akimi after 3 long years and the girl confessed to him on their first meeting. His reply was (beside thinking that Kuroneko would not have been the first girl to confess to him had the accident not happened) quite straightforward. "Whether it was 3 years ago or right now, my answer is still the same. Sorry, I have someone that I love already." After that, Kyousuke's thoughts are as follow: The story between Sakurai Akimi and myself finally ended after 3 long years. However... my story with Kirino is still not over. If there's a title for the story, it would be something like [My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute]. 3. At the end of the epilogue, Ayase and Kuroneko invited Kirino for tea. It's mostly about Kirino's decision to leave Japan after graduation. However, at the end both Ayase and Kuroneko declared that they will both confess to Kyousuke before graduation. But Kirino seems to have straightened out her feelings and declared that "Before I graduate, I can do things even crazier than eroge!" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ So from those 3 points mentioned above all gathered in volume 11 of the light novel, I am quite confident in stating that the siblings have romantic feelings for each other. However, Kirino has always been a tsun and never truly faced her own feelings. And Kyousuke is just too dumb to figure anything out. It should be noted that since Kyousuke got kicked out of the house by their parents to prevent further abnormal relationship development between the pair of sibling, it is also safe to conclude that they are indeed blood-related. My unbiased opinion would rank the heroines as follow in terms of their chances of winning the grand prize (i.e. baka oni-san): 1. Kirino 2. Ayase 3. Kuroneko 4. Manami The others really have no chance at this point IMHO. |

| Good observations and summary. Yes, I think in a way Manami is the "last boss" in vol.11 but then vol.11 is not the end of the series. In a way, the situation and its development since before vol.11 has become more and more desperate between Kyousuke and Kirino, as the siscon/brocon gets more and more prominent (the latest episode in the anime is already very clear about this). Assuming that indeed they are blood-related (I am sure an uproar will come up if after all the travails including even their parents they are shown not to be real siblings after all), I really don't think a LN would really go as far as giving an incest end - it is not a 18x VN like Yosuga no Sora after all. But since, as you summarized, they more or less get painted into a corner, the most likely result would be status quo, with the incest undertones being hinted as a direction for their future relationship, which means Kyousuke will not get a girlfriend after all, though all the girls may still keep hope of winning him at some point in future. An incest+harem end, so to speak. |
| So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old? I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them? I wonder how long people would put up with this. As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series. |
| I agree with the most likely outcome being a status quo (which will really suck)...like being trolled by the author after reading 11 volumes of excellent siscon story ;D The attachment the two Kousakas have for each other seem too strong to brush off in the last volume as a normal pair of sibling behaviours. So I just don't see a non-incest ending happening (unless it is a harem end). |

| @Salo_Heika To reach that route ending, Kyousuke has to be made not a blood relation of Kirino first, so unless the same thing happens in the LN.... Actually this is my preferred ending: although Ayase end is not bad either. |

| @Dragon_Slayer_X Yeah there is more than 1 game for sure. Not sure how many though, I didn't play them. @symbv Yeah I know that ending is a non-blood related ending. I just posted that there in case the final ending is not what Kirino fans wanted, at least there's something to make them (and myself) to feel better. |

| Oh god I really hope you read a fan fic by accident because that's really suck but it 's still better than a status quo ending. I am pretty sure the author will be threatened by thousands of letters if he decided to go with that route. 1. Manami ( never gonna happen :/ ) 2. Kuroneko / Ayase 3. any female 4. Kirino |

Hmmh I'm still cheering for Ayase route for now, but I might change my mind if Kuroneko show some spectacular effort to pay her action before (never going to happen, I think) |
