| Meh. Another one of those mecha shows. Not really interested. Not mentioning, all of the designs for these things are the same.  Also, this girl has skill  The sound track is not that interesting for a robot fight scene. GO PLANET EARTH!!! |
| Awesome first episode in my opinion! The art was clean and vibrant; the animation was beautiful and smooth. The characters eyes are gorgeous and I really liked the highlighting, despite it being more than normal. Enjoyed the small bit of humor and found the whole thing very well directed. | At first I felt it just another one of those robot animes. The story the same. Art looks great. I really liked the design of the robots though. Felt Robotics;notes like. However, I started to like the story more towards the middle of the episode. Definitely will keep on watching for now. I feel the series will be less about mecha and more about him trying to live a peaceful life without war; focusing more on human interaction than sci-fi. Though, who knows, I could be completely wrong. Lol. I agree with you! |
| I agree that it picked up during the second half. I really like the culture clash so far and how they gave the main character a decent amount of character development already. I think they'll try to pack in as much action/slick animation as possible, given they're trying to reach a wide audience, but I also think that Urobuchi is going to send some curveballs our way. I read somewhere that he called this anime his masterpiece, or something along those lines. Whatever it is, I wouldn't write it off as a stereotypical mecha anime just yet (you can probably safely label Majestic Prince with that) and would expect some heartbreak down the road. I'm most interested in his development as a person. It also think a good chunk of the show will be devoted to him learning how to become an individual, and how to find his own values/motivation for living after having been handed them from what I'm assuming has been his entire life. My favorite first episode of the new season so far. |

| There was a lot of information presented in the first half of the show about the world the protagonist Red lives in. A world in which humanity is united in a self-proclaimed utopia called Avalon, judging by its appearance a space ship which tries to imitate conditions of Earth, where except for so-called "drifters" all of humanity lives, with a population of 470 million which has a very high level of technology and scientific development. Although I feel that this so called utopia may not be as great as it sounds, since our protagonist only now after several thousands of hours of service, putting his life on the line, against a threat to humanity. Also all the people we have seen from this world, the pilots of the mechs, have the same colour of hair, which to me implies that they have similar genetic material; perhaps humans with certain genes are chosen to fight in the mechs or the society of Avalon is overall very homogeneous. The enemy of humanity is called Hideauze and seems to be an array of different biological creatures; some of which look more like plants and others more like animals (snails, insects). These creatures seem to be able to fight effectively against the advanced weaponry of the humans. Furthermore in a few images one can see other ships similar to Avalon which seem to have been destroyed or abandoned, presumably due to the Hideauze. Our protagonist is thrown through a wormhole of some kind and ends up on Earth, which to him was only a myth, or rather a place mankind (those who live on Avalon) no longer knows the location of. What I want to know is if red was only sent to the wrong location through the wormhole or if he was also sent through time. Furthermore I wonder if he will try and get back to his combat unit, stay on Earth and live in peace or inform the people on Earth of the threat of the Hideauze and prepare them against it. (TLDR) All in all I am very much looking forward to the rest of the show. |

It seems to always be that way with "utopias". They're always corrupt or have turned all of the citizens into lifeless drones who are so-called "happy" but never do anything but their daily routine. It'll be interesting if we get to see a little bit of Avalon and all of the people that live on it. | I just watched the first 2 episodes. I not sure how I feel about this one. I know that one of the great mainstays of anime is it's proclivity to take esstablished tropes and mix and match them into new combinations (in fact this is one of my favorite things about anime) but, if writers aren't careful even a dramatic show can get pretty dull in my opinion. Suisei no Gargantia is so far a fairly compelling story (I know not much has happened yet, but it's got the blockbuster hooks that always seem to work out), but I'm seeing maybe just a little to much familiar territory in the character's personalities and designs. If they can make the characters mean something real this could be the next Code Geass, but it could also get boring and soulless in the way of like Eureka Seven or Guilty Crown. |
