Whats crackin everybody? Skulls I trust?

Anyways I guess I'll give this a shot even though I'm not entirely sure what to say, so here goes nothin. First and foremost I am a metal head, if anyone knows any anime that is about metal besides Detroit Metal City I would really like to know. If you look at my anime list I don't bother rating them because I think its too much of a pain in the ass, if you would like to know what I think of an anime ask me and i will tell you. I believe that the chick from NGE had it right, that an ice cold beer is the best way to start the day, and I also believe that we should all aspire to be more dude like. As in the dude from the Big Lebowski, we all can learn a thing or two about takin 'er easy.

So how was that?

Nice! I myself am from Chicago! I actually run/ran a review site for music. "RhythmReviews" and I dabble in everything from Pop-rock, Metal, and Dubstep/Psy trance. I use to host a radio show in Australia called The Pit FM with some pretty cool Aussies. Music/Anime/Gaming is essentially my life. My favorite bands are Silverstein and Bayside.

I'm a gamer... If you guys play wow, or ff14 when it comes out, I will be getting that as well. I also play a lot of shooters. Xbox gamertag is "BanzaiBulbasaur" MMORPG-Shooters-Puzzles.

last but not least, I've always been an anime fan and am always looking for good Action/Comedy types. :) I love talking about games and music just as much as anime.

I too am a Metal head and my knowledge of 1980s thrash is quite high. I heard Detroit Metal City is based on the metal band Seikima II who is really big in Japan and even had their own videogame. Also the Anime Bastard!! has a lot of Metal references I believe. Also if you like Testament they made a song named after Urotsukidoji.

Anyway I am the nostalgia guy who is largely more fond of the classics but likes anime of all eras. I just watched Steins; Gate which I quite enjoyed. Anyway my favorite anime is Ashita no Joe and my Favorite Manga is Lone Wolf and Cub. My favorite movie is Seven Samaurai, and my favorite band is Black Sabbath.

Herro everybody!
My name is lily, not really though, just my screen/nick name.
I like anime. And my favourite anime is One Piece, been watching for 4 years :).
I am from Vancouver Canada, and will be going to a private school! a lot of people in my school and class actually watches anime, which is really awesome. I can talk about anime even outside my cozy bed! i like to draw and all that stuff. I am also very lazy, and usually don't bother dotting mu I's.
I have an older sis that also loves anime and is currently living in Chicago studying Architect and design.
I also love video games. Though my X-box was recently stolen. So everytime i go intomy basement, i see a stack of games, FOR SOME REASON HE DIDN'T STEAL, laying there and making me depressed. What is even more sad, is that all the games are european version. And i won a free x-box that is from NA xD.

But yeah, looking forward to this club!

Sweet we got a metal head in the club. I enjoy a pretty wide range of metal, everything from the classics like Sabbath and Priest to thrash and death metal and power metal, black metal, folk metal. You get the idea. Also I was interested in checking out Bastard!! (mainly because of the name) but I heard it wasn't all that great. Have you seen it?

I've seen a couple of episodes a long time ago. I can't remember why I didn't finish it but it's basically one of those cheesy 90s anime with plenty of violence so it depends on if that's your thing. Yeah love all types of metal from Black Sabbath to Bathory to Carcass to Fates Warning. I've actually made freinds with a few bands members after uploading their material onto youtube.

Good enough for me to give it a shot. I like a lot of stuff, plus if theres a metal reference or two it will make it worth it for me. I have a good feeling about this club and I look foward to the discussions to come. Also I don't know what your signature is but it looks awesomely brutal.

I'm Glad to see a few more people who enjoy metal. It's nice to have people to talk about music you like. :) If I had to pick what i specifically listen to, it's more or less stuff like Parkway Drive. So I guess I'm more along the lines of Metalcore.

My sig is from I believe a Kazuo Umezu manga ( Hes known as the master of Horror manga ). I do believe it's from Left hand of God, Right hand of the Devil. I'm not 100% sure but i'm going to finish reading the manga and find out. It's a very good read if you like craziness and gore.

Hope I don't sound rude but I honestly am not a fan of metalcore :P.

I'm not good at introductions but here I go hehe...
You can call me Aze-kun...
Actually, I started watching anime more than two years ago, but it's about a year since I really started to watch a lot.
I don't have favourite anime. BUT I think of all anime I rate 9 as my favourite.
My favourite manga is Pandora Hearts.
The music I listen to is mostly Punk Rock, and fav band is MCR. About 75 percent of my class listen to Pop, and I get into a fight quite a lot about this matter.
I'm fan of MU, if anyone here is interested in soccer...
Recently I started learning playing on piano, and I'd be pleased if anyone told me some good soundtracks from anime besides Elfen lied and Yosuga no Sora(already learnt)

Ah, I see. Theres just one thing I don't quite understand about Metalcore, and its those weird mosh dances. The music is fine but I just can't seem to get that aspect of it. If you check out brian posehn's video metal by numbers theres a scene where theres a bunch of change falling on the floor and a bunch of dudes are doing the "pick up the change" thing. Pretty funny. Also I'm not sure if its metalcore that does that stuff but I've been to a few shows and thats what the pit has been like at them.

haha yeah. I don't do any of that stuff. I'm not that active. I don't go moshing or any of that. It's usually seen in the Metalcore and all the hardcore stuff. When I was going to shows I was reviewing a lot of local bands. So I just kind of watched everything. Good times though.

I've been in a huge piano mood lately. SAO has some good songs, Dragon crisis has an amazing soundtrack, along with dragonauts, sword art online. Also check out a guy named Nekomata master on youtube. he did most of the soundtracks for IIDX games and Suikoden, stuff like that. :P I like some of the Bakemonogatari covers people have done as well.!

Hey everybody! Throwin' my own hat into the ring.

I'm 19 and in college studying environmental science. I'm interested currently in human security resources, as in allocating resources such as clean water and energy so that the very poor have access to them and can increase their standard of living.

I'm really into film; my favorites are Silence of the Lambs and Lawrence of Arabia. Gotta love the classics. I'm trying to read more, recently, but can't get into anything...

As for music, I prefer stuff like the Shins or Sufjan Stevens, for example, but to be honest I have been trying to get into metal or at least give it a try. If anyone has any stuff that would be good for a newb, I'd appreciate a rec.

Kame_kazi, if you're looking for some great piano tunes you should take a look at the 5 cm per second soundtrack. It's got some really beautiful tracks.

Alrighty then. Well if you want to try to get into some metal any of the classics are a good place to start. Iron maiden, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Van Halen, Sammy Hagar's solo stuff is pretty awesome, Metallica, Deep Purple, AC/DC, you can't miss. Metal isn't for everybody so if you can't get into it then whatever thats just not your cup of tea, if you have to try to get into metal then it might not be for you. Metal is something that grabs you by the balls and says " hold on tight your in for a ride mother fucker." or at least that was how it was for me.

Take into consideration that their are many different types of metal many of which are very unique from each other. That's one reason I like it is the variety the musicians seem to grasp. Just remember Black Sabbath is king of this domain. Though not everyone agrees that is most respected band in the genre without a doubt.

If I'm going to suggest something, I will pick something that will ween you into the metal category. If you start off with pure screaming you might not enjoy it that much. I enjoy clean vocals as well as a good beat/melody with my metal. Try theres out
All the remains - Two Weeks
Parkway Drive - Sleepwalker
Trivium - In waves
In flames - crawl through knives
After The burial - Pendulum

I may get bagged for this but, I also listen to Screamo/hardcore/techno stuff like Attack Attack! and Asking Alexandria. It's just where you'r tastes lie :)

I actually haven't read it either but I plan to being a big fanatic of gore and what not. It was written back in the 1700's by Marquis de Sade the guy sadism was named after. It deals with sexual torture in a very cruel and unforgiving way I am told.

Let's see... I'm going to try and be brief since I tend to type way too much at a time. Ask any questions and I'd be happy to expand on it.

I'm 21 and currently working at a small clothing company where I silk screen shirts. My plan is to become a Preschool teacher. My older brother is my best friend and we often watch anime together. I'm very sociable but also quite introverted and I don't really tolerate stupidity.

My first exposure to anime was Pokemon back in 1998 but didn't really know what anime was until 2005 when I watched Fruits Basket on Youtube. After that I watched off and on until about three years ago, which was when I found MAL and my "addiction" hit full swing.

My favorite anime is One Piece and my favorite manga is Yankee-kun to Megane-chan. Because of my Dad, I grew up listening to Ozzy, ACDC, Judas Priest, Dio, etc. Nowadays, I mostly listen to swing, folk metal, and techno. I love reading. I own more books than I can shelve and mostly stick to paranormal horror fiction. I grew up riding quads in the desert and being very boyish in general.

I'll stop there for now. Haha! I have a good feeling about this club and can't wait to chat more.

Hello everyone.
There are quite a lot Heavy Metal fans in here. It's not really my cup of tea but I do like Motorhead and System of a Down. I'm rather a classic Rock or Jazz fan.

I'm 20 years old and study mathematics in Germany (from next year on economics aswell).

I started watching anime 2 years ago after I got forced to watch Elfenlied (I liked it more than I thought I would). I'm watching all kinds of anime but lately I got more into Slice of Life. My favourite anime is Lain and my favourite manga is Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou.

I'm also a big movie fan. I don't really have a favourite movie but if I had to name one than probably Brazil. I also read a lot because I have to ride a train for 2 hours daily.

At the moment I have to much time (had semester break for the last 2 months) and because of this **** snow I spend most of my time watching anime.

If you guys want to read something really disgusting/disturbing you should give "Ultra gash Inferno" a try. It's by far the sickest manga I've ever seen.

nice, i also play wow! what realm are you on? i'm currently playing on alliance sargeras with a fury/arms warrior and an affliction/destro lock (locks still about 30 levels from 90 though). oh and OMG i love your gamertag; bulbasaur was my favorite gen 1 starter.

yess, listen to bento. one of the bakemonogatari op's sounds beautiful on piano. i think it was staple stable? or something along those lines.

ChampagnePink said:

I'm really into film; my favorites are Silence of the Lambs and Lawrence of Arabia.

that's cool silence of the lambs is one of my favorite movies of all time, right next to pulp fiction. my favorite era for films was probably the 90's but i enjoyed a lot of 80's films that weren't just all cheese; that is unless i was in the mood for cheese hehe. havn't gotten around to laurence of arabia yet although i own it and have heard many great things about the film =/

so anyway on to the introduction! i'm 20 years old, planning on going to school this fall to study in the IT field. i started watching anime waay back in the day maybe 96 i believe? anyway, i started with sailor moon (lol) when i had just moved from cali to mass and my obsession started there. from sailor moon i went on to many of toonamis greatest like dragon ball, dragon ball z, yu yu hakusho, rurouni kenshin, gundam wing and the list goes on, but i didn't start getting heavily into it until i started reading naruto and discovered that anime (or i guess manga in this case?) was an art form of its own.

unlike anime though i've been completely obsessed with video games, primarily nintendo, my entire life. i have fond memories of playing super mario bros and donkey kong country over friends house from my early childhood and rockin' sonic and mortal kombat on my genesis at home, aah those were good times. my favorite IP of all time is pokemon; i've extensively and obsessively played every generation to date and am eagerly looking forward to the release of x and y. aside from that i do enjoy non nintendo-related games such as kingdom hearts for instance. oh and my favorite gaming genre would have to be RPG's although i play a lot more than just that.

so yeah since music seems to be the hot topic right now might as well finish up with this one. sadly, i'm not as into metal as a lot of the people here seem to be. i used to listen to a lot of it back in the day; mainly a few metallica albums (kill em all was my favorite) and iron maiden. nowadays i mostly listen to liquid DnB, jazz/funk inspired instrumentals, and rap.

My favourite films are The Shawshank Redemption and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly but I also like many others.
My anime favourites are Princess Mononoke and Fullmetal Alchemist
Music: I like to listen to anime soundtracks/ op, ed songs as well as game soundtracks. But also a wide variety of different music genres, including metal music ( a friend of mine got me into some Wintersun e.g.).
I play a lot of PC games. Mainly those which can be found on Steam (which I use as my secondary chat client after Skype), but also StarCraft II WoL (at which I suck) and some classics from GOG. I would find it hard to select a favourite game but if someone put a gun to my head I would probably say Fallout NV.

I actually have a kind of interesting story on how I debuted into anime. When I was 14 My uncle forced me to sit down and I got hooked and watched the Evangelion series all the way through. They started calling me an EVA Pilot that whole year because the pilots are 14 years old. After that I started to strongly love Toonami and discover Trigun and other animes.

oooh my.. illidan horde, must feel pretty good hehe. illidan is actually the first server i'd go to if i decided to switch to horde. in fact, i was planning on rolling an orc shammy on illidan when i decided to pick the game back up again but ultimately went with sargeras alliance because a couple IRL friends wanted me to play with them. here's my warriors armory if you wanted ot check him out: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/sargeras/Kabutopz/simple

i'd probbaly be around the 495-500 iLvl mark about now if i didn't run out of wow time a week before 5.2 released >.<

I've read some of Ultra Gash Inferno it's by the king of Ero Guro. Also classic rock and heavy metal are the same in my book. Also if you wanna become a true movie buff check out films by Akira Kurasawa. That got forever changed the way I look at film.

Hi, uh so let's see:

I'm 25 and I live in Oakland California, though only since this year. Previously I lived Worcester MA. I've been watching anime since high school. Some friends showed me Princess Mononoke and the first few episodes of Eva and I was totally hooked for life or well maybe so I thought at the time... I took a big anime break after high school and only really started to get gung ho about it in recent years. I absolutely love shows like Lain and Evangelion. Heady stuff with lots of complex metaphors and really interesting characters is what I always hope to find in anime. I also like some silly stuff too like Slayers Next, and G Gundam (it's cheesy I know, but it's probably the most fun thing I've ever seen). I kind of feel like the mid nineties were a high water mark for anime. I am also interested in indie comics (or comix depending on your preference), music (I'm not really a metal head at all though I do like some heavy stuff like Big Black, Sonic Youth, and Mudhoney) my favorite bands are Black Tambourine, the Pastels, and Dinosaur Jr., and a few of my favorite films are Apocalypse Now, Sans Soleil, and Antichrist

Also, I have a question for everyone. Is my avatar offensive? It the image on the cover of Big Black's historic album "Songs about Fucking". Now the album definitely has a sense of humor about itself, but I feel like if your not familiar with the reference it just looks a little tasteless.

Really awesome that we've got a lot of German people here; I'm actually taking German right now, haha, and trying to minor in it! Might end up using you guys for practice...

As for what I'm reading right now, I'm trying to get into the Golden Compass 'cause I never read it when I was a kid. My favorite book that I've read recently was Lord of the Flies, completely awesome.

Zerkalo, if you're a big jazz fan you should check out Emefe! My friends and I love them but they don't have that many fans. You can listen to their CD for free on their website. Anybody who's into jazz/afro will love it, or should at least give them a chance.

Kurselax, Pulp Fiction is fantastic but I would have to say my favorite Tarantino film is Reservoir Dogs. It blew my mind when I saw it!! And definitely check out Lawrence of Arabia, I recommend you split it into two nights though because of its length.

Suffocate, I love Dexter too! Never got into Breaking Bad, though. Will have to give it a chance one of these days.

MyLonesomeCowboy, holy crap, you lived in Worcester? I'm like five minutes away from there. Small world!

Anybody into comedy? I love Arrested Development and have been watching Louie on Netflix recently. Can't wait for the new AD season in May.

Dude wintersun is one of my favorite bands, I've only met one other person that even knew who they were.

Also I see we got some gamers here as well, I would play WoW but I kinda had a problem with that game. (failed a few classes because of it if you know what I mean.) anyone still play the old games? as in SNES and sega genesis? I still play those on a pretty regular basis.

one more thing. 3 MORE DAYS TILL NEW GAME OF THRONES! YIPPEE SKIPPEE!

that show is just awesome and I am quite excited

I just recently played through Chrono Trigger. Absolutely amazing, my favorite game of all time, I think. I've started playing Mother 3, if anyone is into Earthbound, and it's pretty great. If you like the older games, you should check out Cave Story, it's a game from mid-2000s I think but done in the style of an older game. It started a huge indie game revolution, if memory serves.

@champagnepink:

Where outside of worcester do you live? Before I moved to Worcester I lived in Berlin (you know the place where Spooky World used to be). Also, I fucking love Cave Story!

@Exmortus420:

I still have an SNES and I play it with some regularity, my favorite games are Tetris Attack, DKC2, and I guess FF3 (though I actually played that one on psx...) what games do you play?

Haha! One Piece is awesome! In retrospect, I'm relatively new to One Piece. I've only been watching since December of 2011. Before that, it was actually a series I had refused to watch. I thought the art was horrible and the character designs were stupid. It was actually a fanart of a picture of Shanks that made me try the first episode and I loved it immediately. It took me six months to catch up to episode 500 and I've since watched it through two more times.

Sweet Chrono Trigger is one of my favorites too, I think it would make an amazing anime. I'm also a pretty big Sonic the Hedgehog nerd, but I would have to say that the Mega Man X games are some of my favorites though.

I loved playing Mega Man X4 as a kid. I remember the bosses being extremely difficult. Granted I was little and I haven't tried recently, so it could be a lot easier now.

My favorite games are the Mother games. I swear i've beat Earthbound like 30 times in my life! I think the NES and Super nintendo are the best systems! Ive got the Megaman X collection and beat all the games except Megaman 6. I enjoyed Chrono Trigger but not as much as I think I should have though. Anyway I also love Zelda and final fantasy. A good older game I wanna recommend is Sweet home. An old horror Rpg for the Nes! Very awesome stuff!

@MyLonesomeCowboy Your worried about offending people after seeing my sig lol?

I still play them today and some of the bosses are still pretty damn hard, especially the last boss for Mega Man X, and I cant remember which game it was but there was also a spider thats a pain in the ass. great games though

that's awesome a lot of my favorites were made in the 90's; specifically movies like ninja scroll, end of eva, and ghost in the shell, as well as classic series such as dragon ball z, evangelion and my all time favorite anime cowboy bebop. i still don't feel like i've seen enough the 90's had to offer though so you should give me some recommendations some time if anything good comes to mind from that decade.

reservoir dogs was an amazing film. it's my second favorite terantino film followed by kill bill vol 1. i'll get around ot laurence of arabia one of these days just waiting for a day where i'm in the mood to sit down and watch it, but is it really that long where you think i'll need to watch it in two parts?

haha yeah i used to have that problem as well, i was completely obsessed with that game, nowadays i manage it much better. i'm still undecided if i want to renew subscription yet or not; been having too much fun playing fire emblem awakening to care about any other game. also, HELL YEAH, i love playing SNES and genesis games. sadly i have to emulate since i no longer have my oringal SNES or genesis.
