Why do you like Shinji and Asuka?

Give you a topic. Talk amongst yourselves.

I like them because pairing-wise they're not you're typical pairing. I also like complexity of their relationship as well: both are afraid of being hurt so Shinji doesn't let anybody in while Asuka pushes everybody away.

I like Shinji and Asuka because the interaction between them is quite comical and because Asuka is my favorite character in the show.

Yep--the sexual tension (which has quite a bit to do with their relationship anyway) is so thick you could cut it with a knife.

And I dunno if it's a valid reason, but doujin and other fanworks show they'd be a good couple together. ^_^

Besides, Rei would be physical incest, Misato emotional incest and Kaworu doesn't necessarily love Shinji romantically (and vice versa--in Shinji's case he just has sexual confusion towards Kaworu but that's it).

Unless Anno decides to screw with us and have Glasses Girl Mari be Shinji's love interest in Rebuild (which I seriously doubt to be honest) , it does seem like Asuka and Shinji are the best match for each other since they both have the same problems but opposite ways of dealing with it. And even though they're not a couple, the fact that they stayed with each other time and time again (EoE's ending for one thing) seems to imply that they could work on their problems and be happy together as a result if they just accept themselves and each other first.

I like asuka and shinji because despite the fact they are almost polar opposites if they got together they'd be the strongest, dedicated pairing i can image in anime.

Shinji needs to man up and get with Asuka.

I find Asuka is to be sexier than Rei and support AxS pairing for various reasons: 1. His first real kiss was with her. 2. Even if she's only partially got his mom's DNA, Rei with him technically would be incest. 3. fanfiction.net has more stories of him and Asuka than with him and Rei. 4. Potentially biggest evidence they are a canon couple would be they are the last people left during the climax of End of Evangelion.

The sexual tension is probably the biggest reason. Then the kiss and masturbation scene come to mind. All the other pairings are rather odd as mentioned before. And there is the whole Adam and Eve camera shot.

like everyone else said, the sexual tension is one of the things i like about shinji and asuka's relationship. I think they have contrasting personalities, shinji being a wimp and asuka being dominant.

One is the typical snotty, self-overestimating Tsunderekko who's acting abusive and harshly towards the main character (supposedly to mask her REAL feelings for him), the other your average whiny geek with a potential harem he just can't put himself through embracing it... These two belong together, period!
