For some reason I just watched episode 26, titled sky (final episode) but there are only 25 episodes on MAL :O
I can't find any related special or ova that would act as episode 26 and no that wasn't summary, ova or movie, neither is it prequel - i double checked .

Yea, I just finished watching this series...and felt a bit indifferent about it. Overall, it felt like an average series of a futuristic setting with an enemy attacking the human races for reasons..I've yet to understand.

The Festum's designs looks okay I guess but lacks a deadly or brutal features. It's looks almost like a decoration at times tbh. I didn't like many of the characters much and hard to relate to some of time. This was ultimately a sort of disappointment for me..so 5/10. I might check out the movie but not a priority as of now.

Abstract series but it makes more sense little by little overtime. Tried watching the series back when it was first released in the states but the Festum design and their crystal Assimilation abilities creeped me out back then. I enjoyed the series very much and look forward to seeing the movie.

Since this is the episode 26 topic I can say this, Maya is one the luckiest Mecha pilots ever. After being impaled with extreme prejudice and haveing half of her Fafner erased from existence, she is lucky enough to have the Festum's attack stop just above where her cockpit is placed.

Yeah.. I just got this show and was naming the files and noticed I have the movie and special but I still have an episode 26..
Safe to say I am quite bewildered.

Is this real life?
Has mal made an error?

EDIT:
Okay. I went and did some googling.
Turns out the 25th episode was split into 2 episodes for the dvd release.
Case closed.

It's natural for a person to deny he's a failure as a human being. That's why he searches for somebody who is more miserable than himself. That's why so much animosity exists on the internet. Those who aren't able to find a more miserable person, turn to the internet and call other people losers, even though they've never met. Just to make themselves feel superior. Isn't that pathetic? There's a sense of security that comes from speaking badly of someone else. But that isn't true salvation. — Tatsuhiro Satou

Interesting story and characters but the story telling was really an average or mediocre for some reason. I can't feel the romance of robots battling alien lifeforms even at the end of this series.

It seems they focused more on that coexistence and slice of life atmosphere with a lot of death flags... lol

It could've been better. (´ . .̫ . `)

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Overall disappointing series. The biggest thing was it really struggled to make me care for the characters. Shoko's sacrifice just made me go, "meh." The only ones I had empathy for was Sakura towards the end, and to a small degree, Canon. Everyone else was the fodder they were setup to be.

They also went too overboard with the constant "Are you there?" & "I'm/You're here." Kinda ruined the power of the underlying theme of existence by overtly hitting it over the head with that.

Satisfying finale, though. These last few episodes were arguably better than the rest, so it gets a half-point bump to 7.5.
