A better ending for Leo (spoilers)

I enjoyed the ending to SP as it was pretty much. Unlike others, I was satisfied with what was shown and didn't really need any more from this world. A sequel would be a bonus, but not something I expect or need.

However, I think the way Leo's story ended in the show was a bit weak. I know they were trying for the light-hearted comedy note instead of more melodrama Yet, I can't help feeling it was at the cost of keeping Leo as the fool, which he was throughout the show. A little more character growth for him would have elevated the ending a bit.

For me, it would have turned when she breaks down after seeing the sauna token card and Leo tries to comfort her. He should have realized right then that he has no chance against a dead guy. I would like to have seen something where he comes to this awakening but still firms up and makes the confession ("Whatever may have been and whatever may be, I will continue to try my best to protect you, and even if that isn't good enough, I still want to be with you.And if you say no, well, I'll accept that but I'll always hope. I'm going to keep searching for what it means to be a real knight. Maybe I'll head out into the new territories to see what's out there. Even if it's not now, if you ever change your mind, I'll be there for you. And even if it's never, that's ok too, you've changed me into a better person already, so I deserve nothing more than to know that you are happy.") and maybe still have the slap, which was funny, but instead of him continuing to chase like a fool--have him laugh, pretending to be a fool, and chase for a moment, but his face turning with a solemn look, maybe a crooked smile, fading into a shot with him turning to look towards the sunset, his hand coming back down just short of hers as she bounces away.

The ending was made obvious that Pacifica will choose to marry Leo some time in the future, as a keepsake husband. There are many better ways to develop Leo's character and their ship Leo x Pacifica but this novice author just didn't know how to use the character he created.

- The whole thing with Furet was unnecessary and stupid, it slows the plot and gave him a dog's death because Pacifica still got captured in the end. Imagine Leo was the one who found amnesia Pacifica, it could be the trigger point to boost Leo's character together with his love to shine.
- Give Leo a Dragoon contract or one of those robot / gear / gundam that carry SWORD to use his sword skill, which was impressively introduced as his own sword style. Also to lessen the burden of fighting for the author's biased egoist Shannon.

Leo was written as a comedy character so he looks like an useless fool when things get serious - much like the poor forgotten Yamcha. Nevertheless, he did his role lighten the mood, it is admirable that he wears the headband from having treated by Pacifica and stay true to his feeling then to the very end.

Just one of those anime with a good start and pathetically awful end. IMO it felt like the script writer has changed in the middle of the Furet story, it was supposed to go drama and didn't fit the comedy genre of the series, so he's decided to get rid of him. Also the whole ending didn't make any sense and was so cliche I nearly cried.
Thought it would be 8 when i was about 10/24, what a disappointment
