Uh... ok.... calm down a bit there. I personally am loving this third season so far. The first episode was pretty good; it just showed that a girl misunderstood her sensei, I think (I've only seen the RAW so far and I know only a few words in Japanese). It's not unfitting for this series, because that's basically what Jigoku Shoujo is all about: We have wrong ideas on how other people really are. I mean, we've seen this before in this series: protagonist thought someone is evil, but really is not. As for the yuri scene... that wasn't even yuri. I mean, I was like "omgwtf" when I saw Koihime Musou, and I know that one scene was not yuri at all. It wasn't like they were making love or anything; Ai just merged with another person. And Yaoi? I must've totally missed it. I didn't see it at all in this episode (unless they said something in Japanese). |
Thanks, person who gave me this on another site a long time ago, lol. |

There might not be so much as you say but this show is about horror not this crap in the pic. Yeah the misunderstanding that I know, A BIG ONE from the one who pulled the strong now stupid girl is going to rot in HELL! LOL stupid girl....actually all who pull the string are stupid! In any case I have wanted to vent out big time on this series so here is my chance as long as keep it cool. |

Ai's back and sending more people to hell! I'm guessing that Ai lost the ability to go to the human world or something and need that girl to do so? I hope they'll do some explaining soon. angel999 said: Actually look the way Ren was reacting and you will see. He just looked surprised and asked "who are you?" nothing gay/yaoi about that. angel999 is right, there was a little something with Ren... Ren was turning red while watching the young boy naked ! And even if I watch shoujo-ai animes, I found the "kiss scene" with Ai totally useless, as well... WTF ?? But I'm really happy to be able to see Ai again. I really love her, and in this first episode, she was beautiful as ever, and a little more scary than usual ^^" What I don't understand is why Ai still needs to lead people to Hell ? Wasn't she free from this ? I'm happy to see Hone Onna and Wanyuuydo again but Kikuri... what a pain to see her ! ^^" |

Seems worse than the other seasons. This is becomming a soap opera. >_< I won't watch it! I just refuse to watch it! I only watched the other 2 parts because i tought there will be meaning and good reasoning behind all those stupid "send to hell mostly innocent people" episodes. |

Am I the only one who finds it odd that people are discussing episode 1 when we havnt even seen the subtitled version. It may very well be possible that some things might be explained in the actual text. All I am saying is wait till we have the text to go along with the visuals before discussing please. |

My point was this show was messed up already, why do they want to make things worse? Why didn't they just leave it how it was? This is like the Matrix, when they made part 2 and 3, the only diffrence is that in this show there wasn't anything good to keep watching it. Just the hope that it will all make sense kept me watching and now they are trying to ... wtf are they trying to do? Isn't this show bad enough already? Also it's not hard to indentify gay action when you see it. Or maybe you like to draw a line between bi and gay, right? What could the subtitles change? "we do soul transfer through a perverted ritual but it's not ment to be gay so don't worry! LUL!" >_> |

Second of all since when has Jigoku Shojo been "messed up" I find it to be a very unique and interesting psychological anime and it is in no way like Matrix. School Days was messed up, End of Evangelion (to a slightly lesser extent) was messed up, it would take a whole lot for Jigoku Shojo to come that close. Now as for the homosexuality, like I said I havnt seen it, and if it really is homosexuality (I do not draw a line between bi and gay, both are wrong) then yeah I fault the makers for that but I would really like to see the subbed episode myself before I actually discuss the anime, basically have all the facts. |

I swear to god, people are overreacting here. Ren asked the boy who he is. He said "Omae... dare?" which is Japanese for "who are you?" Jeez... as for Enma Ai kissing a girl, that was a bit yuri, but not really yuri. I've seen what was depicted in Koihime Musou, so I know right away if it's yuri or not, and I can tell you, it was not yuri. You might as well call anybody who performs CPR sexually attracted to the person he's saving. Enma Ai is in NO way romantically/sexually in love with the girl she kissed in this episode. And I'm also willing to bet, if the person Ai kissed was a boy, we'd have a bunch of perverts here proudly declaring, "bring on the hentai!" So far, I am liking this season way better than I liked the first two seasons. Of course, it's just the first episode, so it could change. I love the new opening and ending songs. |

I liked it, just like the others. To me, Jigoku Shoujo has always been a much more atmospheric show than anything else (the psychological play is a nice plus), and the soundtrack and art were just as excellent as usual. Not much of a fan of the new opening though. I liked the old ones much more, this one doesn't feel as fitting to me. |

But this scene is a little "odd". Between boys, there is no need to blush, no ? The scene was very short, I don't say the contrary. But it was what we can called a "fan-service" scene, and was totally useless. Where is the meaning of showing Ren blushing in front of a naked boy ? But that doesn't change that a love Jigoku Shoujo. Simply, the short scene with Ren + the seen with Ai, I think it is a little too much, since we're there to see characters dealing with grudge, pain etc... and not for fanservice... I would prefer to see more interactions with Ai and her team, than to see any useless scene like this. |

However usually when you reveal the contents you are supposed to be cursed by those who you did that ritual with. Depending how bad you reveal, if it should be bits only the punishment might not be bad but it may. Like us the paranormal have many personalities. |

let's just wait for the story to progress. I don't like this transformation thing, ai enma has to kiss her every time. maybe this is'nt what the makers originally planned.they might have had to bring ai enma back because she's the reason why people love the show. |

In the 2nd season, as Wanuuydo was talking to a girl, he adverts her that she shouldn't act as if no one notices her behavior and adds : "Enma-sama and Otento-sama are always watching you". So I thought that the spider was the said "Otento"... Then it is someone other than Enma and Otento. Originally if you take Diablo (hint hint....there are three demons lords there) then you can assume that might be the case for this season and maybe the boy works for him.....how else would he be assigned to Enma Ai right away with no doubts?????? I wonder. |

There are tons of instances of demons, spirits, etc... that use a kiss to exchange power, bestow gifts, possess, drain souls... It's hardly a new thing. Even more, I'm glad it was another girl, because it would has seemed far more awkward if it had been a boy in the bath. Moving past that, I speak a good size chunk of Japanese, (Hacing taken classes in it for going on three years) and not much seemed different to me than what you people have been suggesting. It appears that this school girl worked as a medium for her summoning, though I didn't pick up why she doesn't just have Wanyuudou take her as she did before. As to the stressing out over the girl sending the teacher to hell when he didn't deserve it.... This show has never -ever- been about right or wrong (at least from Ai and Enma's perspective. After all, there was that episode late in season 1 where the nurse who was a perfectly good human being was sent to hell. The show is about emotion. About what drives human beings to send others to suffer eternally, even at the cost of their own soul's safety. And the first episode seems to have done a great job of continuing that point. Humans aren't perfect, they make mistakes,(like the bride in season 2 made a mistake in thinking that sending her mother in law to hell would make her life less of a cage) and this is another example of one. Those are pretty wise words, and I completely agree with you there. And I lol'd about the girls kissing part. Seriously, what's up with people here? And imagine, what if it was a BOY who Ai kissed like you said? Then people here would be b*tching that this has become a hentai story, and I don't even want to imagine Ai in a boy's body *shivers* |

Look I agreed with your philosophy but reality gets i this bug time. Should you know how many people believe in the reality of this you would be surprised. Also there many references to voodoo if you have not noticed. There are people that have the basis to refer themselves for right or wrong and the bride thing was a regret but many as such in the season 1 and season 2 are full of regrets like the episode #5 or 6 when one of the friends wanted to send the other hell but in the end she does not yet the friend wanted to see what it would be like so she pulls the string anyways. Things like that prove that regret is also a reasoning that is shown. |

hmm honestly, i didnt notice ren blushing until i saw this discussion and watched the first episode again.. the quality on veoh wasnt that good ^^; well, i don't think it's really yaoi, but it does seem awkward.. about enma's kiss, i have to agree it's mainly fanservice.. but hey, it also makes the show special. nobody wants to see a lame boring possession. about the leaders of the underworld in jigoku shoujo, mainly portrayed is the spider, who is probably possessing kikuri out of convenience. i dont think enma ai is considered a leader.. the spider demon is just using her to gather his hell army. wanyuudon probably called her 'enma sama' out of respect, and at that time, kikuri was just a little girl enma picked up, never expecting the spider to possess her. thus, enma ai was her master. this explains the 'sama' denomination. other than this, we have hints of a higher power in the second episode, which seals the souls of enma's loved ones. anyways, let's just let the series explain the story. i dont think we have enma again just because the fans love her. she's the hell girl, and the series just doesnt make sense without her. i was sooooo disappointed that she died in the 2nd season, and thought there wouldnt be another sequel. i was thinking, if there was, kikuri might be the next hell girl, and that would really be hell on earth ^^; but then again, it's the common tradition in animes to have the main character all the way. about the summoning, i'm not sure about this voodoo or demonology stuff, but according to ren, the kid and hone onna's discussion, it might be just for a physical body that's easier to move. my inference is that enma ai wants yuzuki to act as a damper/passive force against her friends' hatred, to help them in their judgements, as did tsugumi n hajime in the 2nd season. fyi, mitsuganae means 3 person seated facing together, meaning there should be another main character other than yuzuki, or it could also mean the relationship and development between enma, the person who requests enma ai's redemption, and yuzuki in every episode. tsugumi is also not dead yet, so there's a chance she will appear this season too. |

lol you guys getting all hell bent about this.... i think i now see what this season is about. many times the grudges are granted by an arbitrary contract that cant be bent or changed in any way as a result, innocent people get sent to hell for no reason at all. the last season is full of that. the first season shows an instance where the contract could be interupted but that was incidental. enma still has to grant grudges, but this time, shes given someone the ability to see the process so that it can be stopped. generally speaking no one should go to hell because of some grudge when it can be resolved one way or another. you have to remember that the hell that people go to in this way is separate and different than the hell you would go to if you died naturally. this might be a streach but when this is all over, all the people who have been cursed this way will be brought back since they dont really die, they just get sent to hell. |

Yaoi? Yuri? ...You sure we watched the same episode? "OMG there was an (almost) naked boy and another boy looked at him which means they be gay and wanting buttsecks" And the two girls kissing part is nothing to freak out over, either. I mean, seriously, have you never seen two girls kiss before? Even in an Anime? It's no big deal, especially when you consider why she did it. But, well, all that aside, I did find Itsuko extremely annoying. But that's not a bad thing; I found many people in the previous season annoying as well. That's one of the good parts of the series, actually. You see how stunningly stupid and hasty people can be when they're angry and get the opportunity and power to kill someone. I honestly believe that if that site existed in real life, a lot of people would be dying just because they cut them in a line, stepped on their toes or something minor like that. Anyway, personally, I think that teacher actually should have written notes on that notebook. Listening to music during class, ignoring the teacher when he points it out and generally just bitching about stuff? Yeah, definitely worth a few notes. I honestly saw no need to continue Jigoku Shoujo after Futakomori, but, since it continued anyway, I'll be watching this as well. Though I still believe that they should've just left the series be, it might be that if they manage to explain this ZOMG SUDDEN REVIVAL, this could be good. Oh, and I would just like to point out that I loved the bee!Enma part when they were sending that teacher to hell. All in all, episode was pretty okay. |

Comments made while watching episode 1: -That new opening is going on my iPod! -Who gave "Princess" Kikuri a tricycle? -This episode is also entitled "Stalked by Blue Butterflys" -OH GOD! I wont be able to take a bath for a month now! -"No I dont want to steal the notebook, what if its the Death Note? You didnt think about that now did you?" -*Looks in the mirror* "Now I could have sworn that I didnt look like that yesterday!" -"What are you up to?" "Im listening to the theme of this anime series because its too expensive to listen to any other music." -"Yes I have been watching to many animes, but Im a third year student and this is the third season!" -Ai is a bee for Halloween?!? -Now if you had just told her that about 5 minutes earlier I wouldnt have this tatoo on my chest and we wouldnt have to find another teacher! Post Episode: Well Im happy to see the gang back together. I love the new opening too and Kikuiri...im sorry Princess Kikuri is back yay! I dont get what everyone was whining about earlier, nothing about that show was gay unless someone wants to look at it that way. The kiss that everyone was all up in arms about looked to me like it was just part of the possesion. I know that transfering a soul into a body through the mouth is part of some eastern mythology though id have to go back and look for it for details and I dont feel like doing that now. The part I thought was kind of wierd was the scene right after the string is pulled where Ai is "reborn" so to speak. That was a little creepy but hey, this is Hell Girl, she is supposed to be creepy. Im glad to finally see the subs and hope that they are done regularly from now on. Verdict: This is one of those tragic episodes where the guy really didnt deserve to go to Hell. Its not as tragic as that one episode where one girl tells the other to pull the string to prove their friendship, not knowing that the doll is meant for her but it is pretty tragic. Ah well at least now we may find out what pi is completely. A nice start for season 3. |

Interesting episode. There's a new recruit and the return of Jigoku Shoujo was nice. I like how she uses that girl to see the actions of other people. And wow, the ending was a twist. He wasn't even bad. What a shame for both. |

I thought the first episode was amazing. The new opening isn't as good as the ones from first and second, in my opinion. I think the whole Ai-possession thing was pretty epic. And the transformation scene where she came out of Mikage's back? Awesome! Also, LOL @ naked boy & girlxgirl kiss freakouts. XD |

There is nothing sexual about a naked kid so there is no need to make problems where there are none. On another note, has anyone else noticed that the girl Ai possesses doesnt really do or say anything terribly important to the plot. I would really like them to develop her character a bit more so she becomes something more than just a vessel for Jigoku Shojo. |

Considering that original creators don't have unlimited power over TV shows, it was probably some cynical producer who said, "We need SEX in the first episode! Let's have Wannyudo sex up the Honne onna geisha." And the original writer probably said, "I will drive this pen through your eye socket if you say that even one more time." So the producer says, "Then Enma Ai has to have sex." And everybody else in the room said, "No, not even if you kill us." And so on, back and forth, for an hour, until they came to a compromise -- two bath scenes, one kiss. I'm betting the original writer isn't thrilled to see his once-neat conclusion to the series dug up out of the grave and electrically jolted into Frankenstein's Plot Monster. |
http://myanimelist.net/clubs.php?cid=12350 Give Toyama Koichi one spiteful, malicious vote! As a half-baked, comedic kind of authority, I don't mind lending a hand in this situation. (Bakemonogatari, Ep. 8) I'm going to go and ignore most of what you've said... - Mawootad |

But there was no sexual undertone to either scene. Lets be honest here, nothing in either bath scene suggests that any of the parties involved were attracted to one another or that they derived some sort of pleasure from the "interaction". In one case it was simply a matter of "Who are you, what are you doing in here...and why are naked?" In the other case, Ai simply needed a body to possess since her original body died at the end of season 2 (I assume by now everyone already knows this who is reading this forum). Ai was a soul without a body and so she entered the other girl's body through the mouth which has mythological background. Now if someone for some weird reason wants to look at these scenes as sexual then knock yourself out but do not pretend that they are meant to be seen that way. |

Yeah, I know of of sexual rituals so I don't think I believe your opinion.....yes perhaps it was a sort of ritual. DOES NOT EXCUSE FROM BEING SEXUAL. It is sexual no matter how you look at it and I studied Satanism. THIS IS NOTHING compared to the shit they do with animals. LUCKY this is not as extreme as THE REAL WORLD. Anyways.......YES IT IS A RITUAL AND Yes, it is erotic although not that much it makes A HUGE difference if you watched the two other seasons. To me at least. |

I think maybe you and I might be looking at this with completely different reference. Anyway there is no harm in believing what you want. Its a series after all, its one purpose is to be entertaining. |

angel999 said: THAT WHAT PISSES ME OFF! Did not deserve it at allllllll! I think that's the point of Jigoku Shoujo, revenge and grudges aren't justified. Remember in season 1 that that nurse who was nice and did nothing wrong at all, but was sent to Hell anyway because of some lunatic wanted revenge on someone? And remember the whole town sending each other to Hell because they were insecure in season 2? Yes, people have personal grudges against each other, doesn't matter if they're right or not.. seekster said: Comments made while watching episode 1: -"No I dont want to steal the notebook, what if its the Death Note? LOL, yeah the Death Note came to mind as I watched it, and I kinda predicted that he's just bluffing when he's writing in there. Did anyone notice that Moku was humming the ending song to season 2 at the beginning? XD The cocoon was just.. weird... and Ai in bee costume is both wtf and funny XD I was kinda disappointed though, because they still had that repetition... it's part of the series I suppose, but I was hoping they'd do something different... and not so episodic and repetitive. And I hope they explain why Ai is back... I thought she was freed from her duties as Hell Girl.. and whatever happened to Tsugumi! I wanna know her story.. 'cause when she randomly popped up in 2nd season, it seems like there's more to her story, after the whole ordeal of finding out Ai's past... |
