THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
It's not a bad episode, I like the part where everyone sings there Christmas songs (which ended up badly).

Another part that I like about this episode was when everyone was literally scared of one single worm and depends on Gankyou to get rid of it.

As far as I know no one else wants to pick it up because of the Japanese references and how hard it is to make it local. I don't know any other languages so I'm stuck waiting.

Ode singing part was just hilarious xD i mean Kigurumi trying to growl/scream and Kukuru being ''possesed'' by high tension were just epic win.
I want to rub Marii nipples too (?)...but first Marii, PLEASE EAT THIS GODDAMN CREPE ;_;
Grating wasabi on Kukuru skin xDD.

5/5 Gan-chan! take care after graduating! *sheds tear*

Do you mean the ED theme or the OST playing in the last scene? The OST hasn't been released yet and the ED theme is called Nippon Egao Hyakkei (ニッポン笑顔百景).

This episode was hilarious. That's all I gotta say.

A couple of things I missed that I hope others can clarify.

1) Why does Tetora wear Gankyou's glasses during the second story?

2) During the first story, to prevent Kukuru's self-depreciation, she is ornamented with "don't rub" tags on her chest. Later, rubbing the devil Marii's chest brings good luck and fortune to the rest. Both are set with a Christmas theme. I've never heard that rubbing a girl's chest (in RL or in a picture) is supposed to bring good luck during Christmas or any other time. What is up with this?

Finally, I'm surprised that I am understanding more jokes with each passing episode of Joshiraku. Are the jokes being dumb down for the non-Japanese population or am I getting used of Joshiraku?

Hilarious as usual, although I think a bit more went over my head in this one, as opposed to the last few. Will read translation notes somewhere.

Don't know about the jokes but there are some obscure little references. For example towards the end at the graduation scene. Susan Boyle gets a mention and then they play a piano version of the famous Japanese song "Tsubasa wo Kudasai".

This is because when Susan Boyle released her album in Japan she recorded an English version of Tsubasa wo Kudasai called Wings to Fly.

I wonder how many people got that?

The masked girl is just called as "The mask" in original comics.
There is a rumor that she is very beautiful and sexy pro wrestler...

They play a piano version of Auld Lang Syne, not Tsubasa wo Kudasai. It's one of the tracks from her 2nd album The Gift, holiday album with about 5 different Christmas songs on it.

Still random as hell, but I liked the Harajuku scene with Kyary Pamyu Pamyu reference and the super sentai parody.

Mutta is the ultimate moé.

1. Those aren't Gan-chan's glasses, hers have thin black rims...I think those are probably Teto's, I believe I saw them when they were all trying on glasses in another episode. To be honest, I somehow missed this whole thing until you mentioned it though. :o

2. I'm sure it's just a thing meant for Japanese / eastern cultures to understand. It's probably also just a joke or something... not something they take seriously. Might've been some old Japanese legend.

The busback soyblast tongue twister reminds me of Chiyo from Azumanga Daioh :D

Gokusen reference then Marii ends up with a Takeo from Ore Monogatari tattoo on her back XD!

Here is a quote referring to the Power Rangers, apparently even in this anime series, they could do without it, heheheh! Comedy as usual, is never visceral, but always based on lexical reasoning, on references to purely Japanese works and on idioms. However the narration remains quite gobible, even without real fat laughs, this is the mere dissertation.

The level of pun disjunction, each one leading to the next, is simply awe-inspiring. It's like having a chain of precious metal being forged and assembled in mere second under your eyes.

1) Why does Tetora wear glasses during the second story?

was asking the same thing, and meanwhile Gankyou seems to wear contacts at the same time (not that i'm complaining)

"it's a paradox to save money during crisis" and then Virtual Boy and Sega CD 32x are clearly shown, damn, they both unceremoniously failed and became lavish kind of purchases

Obviously, Yoshino Nanjo and Nozomi Yamamoto have the best singing voices (and they would have reunited in a idol anime some months later, even if Nojomiy just for a supporting role)

Thank you, i was afraid some of them were hiding real tattoos... i can't state enough how much i agree with japanese common distaste for them

"Skin Arrangers"... but there is no place for Gankyou, poor her.

Mario Kart stand-in in the next episode? Interesting.
