I really hope they will finish the anime, though. As the ending of the novel is really satisfying.

I agree. . When I watched Spice and Wolf I was just amazed by it. It's very unique and fantastic but when I realized their has been no announcement for a season 3 for years it got me quite dis-heartened. D;
Would love a season 3, we can always continue through the light novels but they only translate 1 of the books every 6 months and I think the latest one to be released this summer is actually the one where season 2 ended. So would have to wait til Winter to continue! Q_Q

I'd recommend you to learn Japanese.. as else you'll have to wait for around 6 years until the last novel has been translated. It is really worth it as the ending is really, really good. (at least to my liking!)

Right, let's learn the entire language for that. Sound like a pretty good fuckin' idea.

But really, having another season would be like a miracle come true.

It's been 3 years since season 2 ended. When it's been that long all hopes for another season are pretty low. Don't get me wrong I'd love a 3rd season.

Curious though, how were the dvd/bluray sales for season 2? Maybe that's why there hasn't been any news on season 3.

I started buying the Yen Press Spice and Wolf manga a while back, right now the manga is at the end of season 1. Since its based off the light novel, I'm hoping the manga will get past the anime in a year or two.

I've read all the Novels, and it's concluded a while after after the 17th volume.
In my opinion, they can very much wrap up the remaining 12 chapters with a simple two cour season, focusing on the later novels as well as perhaps a bonus OVA or a special regarding the epilogue 17. It's not impossible and I'm thinking that someone will eventually pull S&W out of the anime graveyard and animate the remaining arcs. The only pressing concern is that a sequel being released may not at all match the standards of its predecessors.

Well i'll show my support by buying the next novel, but i'm not holding out hope for another season. Also, it seems really really crazy to me that it takes 6 months to translate a 200 page book.

After watching this whole series, I really hope for a 3rd season. With the popularity of this anime, I'm surprised they haven't just animated the light novels for a 3rd season.

I guess I'm being overly optimistic, but I'm hoping for some new stuff for this series!

I would most definitely buy the novels. I found myself down after the series ended, and watched the episode 00 5 times to get more Holo. So many great series being discontinued...

I've accepted the fact that there will not be a season 3, at least any time soon.

I'm all caught up to the translated novels and have no problem waiting 6 or even 10 years for this story to finish. Hell, I don't want to even think about the ending, that defeats the whole purpose of Spice and Wolf for me in the first place.

I'll enjoy re-watching and re-reading it as much as I want and slowly wait for new content. I will not let Lawrence and Holo's journey end so easily. ^^

"The bustle and the scents of the world we have yet to see" A simple yet perfect quote from the end of season 1.

A never ending Journey with Lawrence and Holo, I'll choose that over a probable bitter-sweet ending any day.

But then again, that's just me.

Yen Press just announced they're stepping up the release schedule of the translated novels, so you can expect to see the series completed faster than previously expected. It's one of their more popular licenses and it's good to see that turning into a bigger windfall for the fans

As far as a season 3, the producers said in an interview that the possibility hinges greatly on the BD sales in Japan and in America, and since the BDs are still relatively new in America there's still hope on that front. It also need to be taken in to consideration what the lead voice actors are doing. I couldn't even imagine watching a season 3 without Fukuyama Jun and Koshimizu Ami reprising their roles.

One last thing to consider is that there have been many shows that didn't see a new release for many years and suddenly get a resurgence of popularity. Examples like Evangelion, Saint Seiya, Uchuu Senkan Yamato, Bubblegum Crisis, etc...

Sounds good. I wonder how many novels a year they will release now. It was 2 per year up until now, I'd be surprised if they released 4.

Anyway, this is very good news. Thanks for sharing :)

I've been holding off reading the novels in the hope that another season of Spice and Wolf will happen. I'm not sure how much longer I can wait. The good news is that it's not unheard of for a series to get a new season years later.

Sorry to crush your hope, but you really just need to look at other extremely popular light novel to anime adaptations to realize they won't release another sequel. I mean just look at Durarara and Baccano. Durarara had a petition going on and had around 13,000 signatures but didn't get another season and there were still a ton of things to tie up! Also, If we needed 25 episodes to cover 4 volumes of light novel (they skipped the fourth volume and went to the 5th volume) we'll need probably 75 more episodes unless the other volumes are uber short. And no anime company is going to spend that much budget money (unless it's low quality) to revive an anime series that wasn't nearly as popular or successful as Durarara (which didn't get another season). They even released an OVA which is pretty much the period on the end of a sentence. I really want some more Spice and Wolf, but it's really just not going to happen.

Pretty much this. I always jump onto the boat when S3 is mentioned but I already know deep down. I'll enjoy the first 2 seasons and the OVA/Specials for the rest of my life though.

At least the Novel translations are speeding up, I can't wait to own/read all of them. I'm fine with the way they ended anime S2 as well. It was a much better closure than the likes of anime Durarara!

Once again, I'm in no hurry to end this journey so I'm not disappointed. Post #25 sums it up, yep.

As long as Yen Press doesn't do the same thing that Tokyopop did to the Karin light novels and not print the last novel, I'll be happy to wait almost any length of time.

For someone who is out of the loop, what issue of the Manga/Light Novel does Spice and Wolf II continue from?

Thanks

Light Novel Vol. 6 is the legitimate continuation. It just got translated this June.

Side Note: Vol.4 was skipped entirely as it was what I would like to call, a "side story". You should also check that out if you want to get everything out of the universe, though it wont really affect your "following" of the story in any way if you don't.

Do you think they may have been waiting for the novels to finish so that they would know how to pace it? The last novel only came out last year.

The first two seasons only covered 5/17 Novels, 4/17 to be precise actually. They had more than enough content to go with but if they were waiting for the definite end before they tried anything for assessing pacing, profit and popularity purposes, then they might give it a second glance.

However, as someone brought up earlier in this thread, Durarara! is a far higher priority LN-wise and I'd say don't expect to see a Spice and Wolf season before the latter. Though I could be wrong.

Anyway, you all should just re-watch the current anime content infinitely ^^ (with minor breaks of course), it never gets old, in fact it gets better each time. Also, Yen-Press is speeding up translations on the Novels and I urge each major(like me ^^) or even casual Spice and Wolf fan to read them from the very first one.

They are not that slow.
For starters, you could read novel 4 and 6. Four was skipped entirely in the anime but is definetly worth reading. And six is what happens after the anime.
The anime is really good so it's probably not worth reading the other novels. Of course, if you want to go ahead, it's just that I'm kinda bored when reading something where I already know the story. I've read novel 5 and you can say that the anime isn't really missing anything out like it's often the case with some other animations.
They announced that they're going to release three novels each year (before 2).
Volume 7 is announced for december this year.

Even tho its been 3 years i will never give up hope. Season 2 just left me with this hole, This hole can not be filled with any other anime. They have like 400 + episodes of one peace and Naruto. I think they can make one more season of spice and wolf.

Many have said that the novels made more sense to them (in terms of the subtler parts like the schemes and the last arc of season 2), but as with anything YMMV.

Why wouldn't you want more Spice and Wolf? I re-watch the anime to the point of memorization and own all the translated Novels. What's the loss in more Spice and Wolf? If anything the anime made me like the novels more and the novels made me like the anime more, which in turn just increased my overall Spice and Wolf universe experience. So in the end, they only benefit each other. They both tell the same story but with a little different pacing, and a few minor detail/differences. They are definitely worth it, well, for a true fan at least. Spice and Wolf for life! ^^
